Hello everybody and how are you all? I am doing great and I am looking forward to nice afternoon with DH and Stephanie (6yr old DD). We are going into Chicago to see Disney On Ice and go out to dinner. We are leaving Katie at home with Grandma. I think it is important that Stephanie has some alone time with us.

Anyway, I was doing a little research and I found the following that I am thinking about posting near the M&M pool.
**********************************************************************************************

When were "M&M's"® Chocolate Candies introduced?

"M&M's"® Plain Chocolate Candies were first introduced to the general public in 1941 and the candies earned a solid reputation from American GIs serving in World War II who first enjoyed the candies in their food rations. "M&M's"® Plain Chocolate Candies were an excellent choice for the military since they were a convenient snack that traveled well in any climate and were packaged in paper tubes. The packaging changed from a paper tube to the characteristic brown packaging known today. In the summer of 2000 it was decided that "M&M's"® Plain Chocolate Candies were too good to be called "Plain" and therefore the packaging name was changed to "M&M's"® Milk Chocolate Candies.

How do you make "M&M's"® Chocolate Candies?

The making of "M&M's"® Milk Chocolate Candies begins with milk chocolate centers, which are formed in a machine and then "tumbled" in order to obtain a smooth, rounded center. For "M&M's"® Peanut Chocolate Candies and "M&M's"® Almond Chocolate Candies either a whole peanut or a whole almond forms the center, which is first roasted, then surrounded with milk chocolate. For "M&M's"® Peanut Butter Chocolate Candies, a center made with real, creamy peanut butter is first formed and then surrounded with milk chocolate. The process for "M&M's"® Crispy Chocolate Candies begins with a crisp rice center which is then covered with chocolate. What follows is a process known as "panning". Panning involves coating candies by rotating them in a coating material in a revolving pan. Panning can be done using syrups and other materials such as chocolate, fats, etc. The principle, briefly, is to coat the center with a layer of materials, which on evaporation leaves an even layer or shell of dry substance. The chocolate (or chocolate-covered peanut, peanut butter, almond and crispy) centers are color-coated by rotating them in a revolving pan, while a sugar and corn syrup mixture is added. This process is repeated several times until "M&M's"® have a thin, smooth shell with the desired thickness. Then, the machine specially designed for the purpose gently imprints an "m" on the surface of the fragile candy shell without cracking the thin sugar shell.

What are the colors of "M&M's"® Chocolate Candies?

When the original "M&M's"® Milk Chocolate Candies mix was introduced in 1941, the colors were red, yellow, green, brown, orange and violet. In 1949 tan replaced violet. The color Blue replaced Tan in 1995. "M&M's"® Peanut Chocolate Candies were introduced in 1954 in all brown and in 1960 red, green, and yellow were added. Orange was added to the "M&M's"® Peanut Chocolate Candies package in 1976 and replaced with blue in 1995. "M&M's"® Peanut Butter Chocolate Candies and "M&M's"® Almond Chocolate Candies, are red, yellow, blue, green, and brown. "M&M's"® Crispy Chocolate Candies include red, yellow, green, blue, orange, and brown.
top

What is the percent of each color in "M&M's"® packages?

"M&M's"® Milk Chocolate Candies: 30% brown, 20% each of yellow and red and 10% each of orange, green and blue. "M&M's"® Peanut Chocolate Candies: 20% each of brown, yellow, red and blue and 10% each of green and orange. "M&M's"® Peanut Butter and Almond Chocolate Candies: 20% each of brown, red, yellow, green and blue. "M&M's"® Crispy Chocolate Candies: 16.6% each of brown, red, yellow, green, orange and blue.

What does "M&M's"® stand for?

"M&M's"® stand for Mars and Murrie, the founders of the company.
top

How do you put the "m's" on the "M&M's"® Chocolate Candies?

The trademark "m" is put on the "M&M's"® Chocolate Candies with a machine designed especially for us, calibrated so the candy shell will not crack during the process. The process is very similar to offset printing. The "m" was first imprinted on "M&M's"® Milk Chocolate Candies in black. And, in 1954 the imprinted "m" on each candy piece was changed from black to white.
top

Do the different "M&M's"® colors taste different?

The color from the candy shells has no taste. It's the delicious milk chocolate (and inclusions like peanuts and crisped rice) inside, with the crisp sugar shells outside, that provide all the taste and texture of "M&M's"® Chocolate Candies. While there is no difference in taste due to the different colors, consumers do eat their "M&M's"® in a variety of different ways, i.e., sorting the colors out separately and eating one color at a time, allowing the color to dissolve from the candy shell in their mouths prior to chewing the candy, and of course just enjoying them one by one.
top

How many "M&M's"® are consumed and produced each day?

As you can imagine, there are millions of "M&M's"® Chocolate Candies made every day as well as consumed by our valued consumers. There are over 400 million produced each day and "M&M's"® Chocolate Candies are made all over the world, however, in the U.S. they are made in New Jersey and Tennessee.

Where can I get different colored "M&M's"® Chocolate Candies?

Hi everybody!!!!! Welcome new members!!!

I don't think I have ever posted my bio here before, but here goes...

This whole vault used to be mine before we deserted the island. There is lots of space here, and I missed the island so I invited everyone to come back here with me. I think that the Castle is well on it's way to being rebuilt.

My Story? Well, my sister Nieceosaurus and I were born in the Bacho swamp somewhere in California near San-Fransisco. There was a really bad storm and we lost our parents. We never really knew them. One day Nieceosaurus was on the internet looking up something called Haroldry (or some such) and she found our uncle's tour agency website. We called our uncle Bachosaurus up and since he had no family, he invited us to live with him. I think he is our closest relative. On April2nd, 2001 He maried Babadon, our new aunt. She now goes by Babeosaurus (unless she is mad at our uncle, then it is Babeadon-osaurus). We live in a house with three humans (ohanafamily, RRBB, and TagBabyIan.

My first trip to WDW was on 10/14/2000 when ohanafamily proposed to RRBB.

OK, enough bio; it's the weekend, Let's go swimming!!!!!!!!
Cannonball!!!

Can someone turn on the heat on Island's pools---its freezing tonight. :cold:

Good morning guys,

I see we have been giving info about ourselves so I guess I should too.
My name is Karen, I am 28 and I live with my husband in the middle of England. We have been married for 6 1/2 years. I live with my 2 cats and 3 bunnies. We don't have any children, but I joke that I have 29 kids aged 9-11 asI am a teacher and so is my DH (except he teaches music and computers in high school.) I also love chocolate and am fortunate to be able to supply the island with its real Cadburys chocolate. I also love to do garden projects in the warmer months (hence the artifact) and I love the theatre and music (I play quite a few instruments but mainly the trumpet). In my spare time I volunteer at the local arts centre and I also take part in shows on the stage as I also help to run a drama group who perform musical plays.

So what does everyone have planned today? I ended up getting up later that I planned as I went to bed late and then I was woken up at 5am by my neighbours screaming at one another, slamming doors etc. They really must have been yelling as we our bedroom is at the oposite end of the house to the wall that joins with theirs. Then it took ages to get back to sleep!
This afternoon I have my first rehearsal for our next show. We are doing Me and My Girl. This afternoon we are starting to learn some of the songs and doing a bit of dancing. Then this evening I get to relax and not do my usual Sunday evening school work as we have next week off school. In England most of the school systems works on what we call a 6 term year. We have 6 or 7 weeks of school then we have a week off. Then we have another 6 or 7 weeks and get 2 weeks off (for Christmas). Then we do the same again and get 2 weeks off around Easter. Then we do the same again but this time get 5 weeks off for the summer (usually the last week of July until the 1st week of September.)

Oh well, I guess I should be going to get ready for the theatre.

Danauk, love your place. Welcome new members dive right into the chocolate pool.

Well, I'm Geraldine, married for almost 15 years to DH, two kids, Sam who is 8 and Kerry who is 3 going on 30. K has been to WDW 3x and S has been twice. We live in Mass, you know home of the championship Red Sox and Patriots!!!! I am a self admitted chocoholic. You know I belong to chocoholics anonymous. Admitted I was powerless over chocolate.

As a family we love to go to the beach and watch movies.

Bio?

Hmmm... okay. Here it goes! My name is Jessica and I'm a sophomore at my HS. I'm on the dance team at my school, and that (as well as homework!) takes up pretty much all of my time! I'm Sweet 16 and live with my parents and my brother is in college. I am OBSESSED!!!!!!!!!!! with WDW. I'll find any excuse to take another trip (this will be my 17th in less than 3 weeks!) there and any excuse to watch the Disney shows on the Travel Channel.

Yeah, that's about it without giving away too much info! ;)
