Welcome To The Caribbean, Love ~ Updated 5-27 P52

Just wanted to let you know that I am still here just haven't had a lot of time to post.

That is a beautiful memory. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Real Life Update -

We closed on the house on Friday. Today we went to Home Depot for the first time.

It won't be the last. :lmao:

Everything's going really well, but between the house and packing and renovations and everything...well, it's crazy here. I'd love to post another update tonight but I just don't have the energy so for now I'll leave you with one of my favorite Disney memories.

Get out the kleenex.

My mother's birthday was this week, and I was feeling a little sad. Not sad enough to break down, but just a little melancholy. Really, she was a royal pita about planning her birthday, and honestly, I was missing that!

Tink said something great to me that really got me through the day. She said, just imagine the tizzy your mother has all the angels in planning her party! I laughed and thought about it, and I'm sure she's right. Wherever my mother was, she was having a good time planning a party, that's for sure!

And I got to thinking, because one of the hardest things for me has been getting rid of the image of my mother in the hospital, and replacing it with something happy. And although the hospital isn't out of my head completely...because let's face it, who can completely forget something like that...I really have replaced it with something else.

This isn't necessarily my favorite memory of my mother, but when I think of my mother, and when I think of her in heaven, this is what I picture.

The Garden View Lounge, the Grand Floridian. Mom is sitting across from me wearing her signature teal/turquoise, a black blazer, her favorite pin on the lapel, holding a glass of champagne. It's an image in my head from our last trip together, and whenever I think of what heaven is for my mother, that's what I picture.

It may not be what her heaven is, but it's the heaven I picture her in. And to think of her having tea with all the people who have passed, including her father...well, even if I can't have her here, that thought actually made me happy, because she's with him now, and more importantly, she's happy.

And you know what? I am too. I'm at a really good place in my life right now. I have my very own Jack Sparrow for a husband ;). I have two beautiful, healthy boys. We just closed on our first home which I love and am so looking forward to renovating. I get to stay at home with my children and spend time with my family. Honestly? It doesn't get much better than this.

Unless you count the fact that there's only two months and one day until my trip. That feels pretty good too! :goodvibes

Kat, congratulations on closing on the house. Home Depot is a favorite of ours (while you are there, get your Lime Mickey's.

What a lovely story about your Mom; I think it is a wonderful way to remember her.

I've always thought of heaven as being all of our very favorite things never ending. For me, Disney World with my family is heaven on Earth, so heaven will be that - no charge ;) and never finding that naughty envelope on our door telling us we have to go home. :) I'm sure your mom is having a blast where she is doing all of her favorite things. ::yes::

On our trip last month, I was sitting on a lounge chair on the beach at the Polynesian watching my oldest granddaughter play in the sand. The sun was shining, the breeze was blowing the palm trees, the water was lapping up on the beach, and I felt like that moment was pretty heavenly. :goodvibes It was truly hard to get up and walk away from that when it was time to go.

Seems like we are all painting these days!
Are you guys getting Disney paint, too? :rolleyes1

Yes, even my real life updates end up being Disney related. :lmao:

That sounds amazing.

But of course! There's at least 3-4 Disney colors going in my house. :thumbsup2

Most of you would think that my favorite memory with MJS would be a Halloween Party with us dressed in costume. And although getting our picture taken in front of Cinderella's coach with all the pumpkins as Jack and Elizabeth ranks pretty high on the memory list, not to mention the last time we went as Jack and a wench and he dipped me unexpectedly and kissed me in front of the big POTC sign as the photographer was snapping our picture, my favorite memory is actually from our honeymoon.

And it doesn't involve anything so much as a little rain.

I'm going to cop out here and quote myself, because I had a feeling I'd told this story before, and I had. It was part of an old pre trip report, and here you go.

"I specifically remember that the day we went to the AK and went on Kali River Rapids, it started raining. Since we were already wet, we thought, what they hey, and stayed to watch the parade. As we were making our way out of the park to our bus to the Grand Flo, it got heavier and heavier. When we got out of the bus, it was pouring! It was so bad that it was flooding in front of our building and ducks were waddling through the walkway like they were happy as pie. DH and I were hysterical, trying to run through the water to get to our building, and eventually he looked at me and said, take off your sandals, woman! :lmao:

They were those big chunky platform Mickey sandals, anyone remember those? Not good for running. So I did, and we made it so much faster. DH always, always knows how to make me laugh. That is without a doubt one of my favorite honeymoon moments, because into everyone's life a little rain must fall. It's all what you do with it.

I remember how much money we saved on dining by staying concierge, because they always had wonderful, decadent gourmet snack items out. And I remember the night we went to Gasparilla Grill and Games and got my favorite chicken strips ever for dinner, and happened upon the Magic Kingdom fireworks outside. I could go on and on, but you get the idea.

I've had some really good trips with DH, just the two of us.

But then we became three...."

Can anyone get over the bolded quote? I'm have some pretty good perspective in my life. I feel like recently I lost that, and now it's back.

Into everyone's life a little rain must fall. It's all what you do with it. :thumbsup2

Congrats on closing the house!!!

Two BEAUTIFUL memories and updates Miss TK!!! :) Thanks for the kleenex warnings though!!! ;)

LOVE the bolded quote, and it often reminds me of another great one.....

"And after even the heaviest of downpours, what we are often left with, are the most beautiful of RAINBOWS!"

You're welcome.

That is beautiful. I'm filing that one away in my memory bank of quotes I love!

WOOT WOOT Congrats on the house TK!! That is excellent news!! Good luck with all the repairs and updates!!!!! Hope that much love and joy fills your new home!!

Love your MJS memory!! TOO FABULOUS!! :yay:

Thanks for sharing the memories TK! So beautiful, yet they prove that it really the little moments that matter so much.

And congrats on the closing! Home Depot and Lowes are horribly addictive. I swear it's something in the air in those places. I've been finding myself drawn in there lately myself, and my desire to change everything grows when I enter.

The advertisement I heard today says you should have gone to Parr Lumber. Do you have those there- I hope so. :lmao:

I am so loving your memories- each one unique to the person you shared them with, and yet, the thing they all have in common is that you love each of them deeply.

We need good luck with all the repairs and updates, let me tell you! When I get through my memory posts, I'll do a house update and regale you all with terrifying tales of wallpaper removal.

Thanks!

You said it! And that's actually pretty much the theme going here. I didn't intend it that way, but when I think of my absolute favorite moments, they aren't big things. They're chance occurences, things that happened when we weren't planning, or things that happened when we just sat and enjoyed. The beauty of Disney vacations isn't always those big things, it's the in betweens.

OMG. It's something in the air, you're so right! We're having a really hard time because, I kid you not, there's not one room in our house that doesn't need something.

Never heard of them. :lmao:

I love your favorite memory of MJS! I can just see him saying that!

I know, right? It was so funny.

Kat, I love your MJS memory and I am going to keep that quote in bold in my heart and mind for the next rainy day. Heading off to Florida on Saturday, but am going to try to keep up with the DIS while we're gone.

Thank you. I try to keep those kinds of quotes in mind for my rainy days, too. :goodvibes Is this your trip for which I've totally fallen behind on the ptr? I hope you have a great time!
