What time should you get there so you are before it actually starts? We always miss most of it and since it's our DDs' first visit we really want to make sure we get there.

The show begins about 8:45am, but if you want a good view and to be in front of the mass of people pushing for rope drop, I would recommend arriving at the MK (after parking, and monorail over and security) no later than 8:15am. The center will be the best view for the show, but the sides will get you into the park quicker.

I would by there 30 minutes before park opening. It should give you plenty of time to get in the gates and get situated. If you're using the bus system I'd make sure I was in line plenty early. Say if park opens at 9 I'd be in the bus line around quarter till 8. Give yourself a 15-20 minute bus wait with. 25-30 minute bus ride and walk to entrance.

Thanks. How long does it normally take to get to parking than monorail over and through security? We normally stay on site and use buses but this time we are about 15 minutes away. We going in June so I know it will be a little busy, lol.

If you get there early enough (on a regular 9am opening day before 8:30 or so) you should be parked in Aladdin (which is the closest MK parking.) At that time the trams aren't running yet, but from Aladdin it is a short walk to the TTC center. From there, the monorails won't be busy, so as long as they are up and running and all of that, it should only take 10 mins max to get on the monorail and ride over to MK. After getting off the monorail (again, if you are early enough) it should only take a few minutes to get through security.

Just remember at that time of morning, 10 minutes can make a HUGE difference with the amount of people packing the monorails and getting through security and what not, so the earlier you get there, the easier it will be.

If you are a rope drop freak like me, 8:00 am. I need that much time to get there, mull around, and build up anticipation!

We used to be rope drop freaks but now with a 4 and 1 year old, we want them to to take everything in slowly. We know there will be plenty of trips for the rope drop experience. I'm secretly already in early planning for our next trip

Not trying to be "Debbie Downer"lol,but there is always a chance Magic Kingdom Welcome may not be performed on any given Morning or it could be a smaller "version" of the show or no show at all.

For example,I went 3 times during my last trip-2 times it was the full show,but the other time nothing but the Train pulling into the Station and then they opend the Park-there wasn't even a Countdown or Characters on the Train or anything.

Chances are you will get the whole show,but be prepared just in case.

I think before 8:30 or so, would have been good before the Anna and Elsa morning run madness started. Now I think you might need to get there earlier than that to be sure to get over to MK and get close enough where you can actually see the rope drop show. Here is the photographic evidence of what 8:30 has been looking like at MK recently with the A&E crowd, you can see the difference between 8:25, 8:30 and 8:35. Ferd is absolutely right that currently 10 minutes can make a huge difference as you can see in the photos:

My family took our first trip to the Magic Kingdom on May 4th for our 7 year old daughter's birthday. To this day I'm not sure how, but our family was selected to help open the park that day. I know it's a long shot, but if anyone has video of the opening show at Magic Kingdom on Sunday May 4th, 2014, please reply. I'd love to arrange to get a copy of the video.

- We were staying at the Arts of Animation Resort. Park opening was at 9:00am. We were in line for the bus to Magic Kingdom at 7:20am. I believe a bus came around at 7:30 or 7:45, so I'd say we were in line close to 8:00am.
