Welcome Home Stay for April? Any chance?

We just bought direct points at Riviera last week, and I scheduled our Welcome Home Call for next Wednesday. Since we bought my husband found out about a conference that he has at the Swan/Dolphin April 22-26. Unfortunately the room block for the conference is sold out. Of course there are no DVC studios available at all for that time, I was wondering if there would be any chance they could get us either BCV or BWV studios for those nights? I guess it won't hurt to ask, but I was wondering if there was any precedence for such a close stay at high demand resorts actually happening for the Welcome Home Stay?

If Disney has their inventory of room available then it could happen but I would not count on it. More likely would be Riviera as Disney owns a lot of inventory there.

I would ask but be open to any resort! We bought CCV in late September 2018 and had a cash room for first week of December (peak DVC time) and they found us a welcome home studio at poly!

Thanks for the input. I guess the thing is we would rather just pay cash to stay somewhere near the Swan/Dolphin or at the Swan Dolphin than stay anywhere else so my DH could get to the conference easily by walking, the idea of using DVC was just an idea based on timing. In reality we had planned to bank this years points and take a big trip in summer 2021 anyway, and using points now would mean we might have to borrow some points to do that next year. The Riveria might be a consideration, though, because of the skyliner, I'll have to find out the hours it runs and when the conference starts in the AM before our call next week. All things to consider. I just hated to not use something we only get once, the special booking for a welcome home stay, if it would have actually worked out.

I think chances of BCV or BWV are weak, but higher at RIV or SSR.

They cannot get blood from turnips.

Your husband could always call a Minnie Van or Lyft to get to his conference on time if he can't use other transportation. And then use Disney transportation to get back at the end of the day. Or he could catch a bus to DHS and walk or boat to S/D.
