Can anyone confirm if you have to book at a DVC resort for the Welcome Home future booked trip incentive? I am finding varying information where some say they stayed at a moderate whereas others stated dvc resorts only.
Is there a minimum number of nights and also what happens if you end up having to cancel said trip? Thank you!

thank you I kept getting responses elsewhere saying that it Has to be a DVC resort but if I am not a current member, how would I book a DVC resort if I haven’t closed yet

You can book DVC resorts with cash like other Disney hotels:

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/

You can just book something for several months away with no park tickets - cancel policy is no penalty if you cancel with a few days advance notice, in case your plans change... And you can book any WDW hotel - not just DVC resorts.

I THINK current members get 1500? I THINK i read that
Correct. I recently added-on as an existing member, and received $1500 discount for Welcome Home incentive.

For Welcome Home, my DVC guide asked me for my resort, check-in, and check-out dates; I assume he verified our existing reservation with that. Then in the paperwork, the $1500 is lumped together with the other summer incentives as a single line item of "developer credits". I don't know of the minimum length stay that's required. After the contract has closed, I don't know of anything binding you to keep the reservation you used for the Welcome Home incentive, but I assume they expect you to keep it. But sometimes things come up and plans change.

oh yes! I have stayed at dvc resorts before 😃 but I wasn’t sure if the welcome home incentive required that that future stay i book be ONLY at a dvc resort or can it be a value or moderate. My plan is this - book something out in oct or nov. for one night. ( we live in NJ so we can get cheap quick flights) Decide if I’m buying direct in August. Get a closing date and then TRY to move my reservation to the day of closing and fly down for that 😄

I never received a Welcome Home stay. I have been a member for years with both retail and resale points.

They are offering a welcome home incentive right now which is simply an extra amount for having any WDW stay booked.

It’s not the same as the welcome home trip they will help new buyers who buy direct secure.

it’s just a current incentive I’ve heard it’s 1500 for current members buying more

It does not have to be at a DVC. Our cruise in November Qualified. It was a Disney Cruise. They will not consider good neighbor hotels or even the Swan and Dolphin. It must be a Disney owned and operated property.

It ends September 11 with the current promotions is my understanding. Magical Beginnings (a different promotion) has no published end date.

The amount is $1500. I assume you are supposed to keep the reservation. We are keeping ours. I saw nothing in the contract that obligated us to keep our trip to maintain current pricing.

i’d be a new member so it’s only $1000 for us

They're not talking about a Welcome Home Stay (an unofficial gesture where DVC simply attempts to secure a reservation for first time owners on their first contract only, if purchased directly from DVC). They're talking about a special promotional purchase incentive currently being offered by DVC for direct purchases to those who already have a current WDW hotel reservation.

Thanks for this info- I’m not going back to WDW until January and we’ve already rented points. We will be at Disneyland in a couple months but staying off site. I suppose I could book a reservation I intend to keep for the Princess Weekend but will that be too far away in terms of dates?
