Our family FINALLY had our first DVC stay - long delayed thanks to 'rona - by squeaking in a few days at Aulani for spring break. While we were there we received some notifications about a "Welcome Home Gift" and stopped by the DVC office to receive... a couple of DVC lanyards and referral cards to snag more DVC members. We're not complaining but as a welcome gift, it seemed curiously underwhelming, like we didn't flash the right hand signal or use the secret password or something.

Is this a typical welcome home gift or have services like this been downgraded in the wake of COVID?

Other than the backpack, I don't think there is anything right now. We didn't even get lanyards, so look at lucky you! :-). But it does change over time - they used to give extra fast passes.

They really have not given much at all. We never got anything for our first stay. The only time we got the lanyards was for attending the presentation to buy more points. Sounds like since they are not doing those right now, they simply used the items from that.

They do send the backpack and the magnet when you buy, so that is really the big thank you gift

Yeah, I love the backpack and magnets - just wanted to make sure we weren't missing something :) The lanyards actually became useful for carrying around the room key and some tipping cash since they don't use magic bands at Aulani. (and I guess soon no resort will either :( )

I just got my magnets and backpack and the glue dot that they used to stick the magnet to the paper was so stuck on the magnet that I couldn’t get it off and ended up throwing it away since it was so sticky. Maybe the lanyards are specific to aulani like the lanyards for DVC members on the cruises.

Actually,.at WDW magicbands are in full swing, they just aren't free with resort stay anymore.

Back in the day when I signed my VGC contracts at DL my guide wouldn't even let me keep the pen I signed with!

ie - no, no magic password or great gift that you missed out on.
Funny, ours have us hats, lanyards and all of the pens we wanted. We also got a $500 gift card as I recall as part of our incentives. Then on a cruise, we earned another $500 gift card by referring someone to DVC. We also won the onboard credit on that cruise during the presentation........I miss the days of.all.of the extras like that.

Yep. I've gotten more purchase "gifts" from a resale than I ever did from DVC direct purchase. I have of course gotten items from the member gatherings like the old Welcome Home Wednesdays and their hats, the Christmas parties and their ornaments and also at Aulani with their morning member get togethers that they had. And prints over the years when touring a new resort or even just walking by the SSR sales center.

No, ours was direct, just a big difference in what they used to offer vs. now.

I had heard they were recently giving DVC toiletry bags at Aulani, but bummer to hear that they’re back to the lanyards. We’ll be there in a few weeks and were hoping they still had the bags!

My "can't keep the pen" purchase was 2009. My 1st direct was 2008. My little box of goodies from a resale broker was a surprise though. Very nice surprise and kind of ironic in comparison.

I went to the RIV tour and didn't even get the postcard, sorry, lithograph.

Really? I was there end of March and they offered every room we went to. They had them in a pile. Again, inconsistent if nothing else!!!

I didn't see them, but then I wasn't really looking for them. Now that I think about it, I didn't see any brochures or anything, and he didn't offer us anything.
