Welcome Foolish Mortals - I am your host, Your ghost host: Going to WDW in Oct '15 PTR-Updated 10/26

Love your last day plans, especially JIKO!!!!! Leaving is never fun but hopefully a little Jiko will make it better

I'm late to the pre-party but I'm following along.

We will be at CBR for the beginning of your trip. We arrive Sept 29 - Oct 5 then moving over to CSR for one last night before returning home. It is our first time for F&W AND MNSSHP! Congrats on becoming a gma soon....my daughter is also 24 years old but her and her bf aren't married yet. I expect that they will make that leap soon.

Where did you request your room assignment at CBR? Our last trip to WDW was in Dec 2012 during the Holiday season and MVMCP was a lot of fun. Lots of things to do during that time! We stayed at POR then and loved it!

I'm so excited for you!! Partly because you leave two days before I do to get there lol!! And we'll be there for part of the same time! We are going to MNSSHP on October 8th....I wish I had more tips for you but I've never been. So far, I'm thinking that we will be pretty laid back about costumes because I'm more concerned about comfort than anything else...yeah...wuss I know. I am not 100% sure, but I think my DD will probably wear this princess dress she has that looks princess-y enough, but feels more like pajamas. That's one option. Or I may dress her as Jesse from Toy Story which would be really cute and maybe not too hard. For myself...I really have no clue...I may try to find something better online but for now I will probably just wear one of my Disney shirts - although I saw a really cute Alice in Wonderland dress online that I may get - only it's really hard to tell how it would look on. Anyway...I am sure that doesn't help you much lol. I love all your plans though and I'm jealous that you have so many Disney days!!!

DiVine is so cool. Definitely on my list to see this year, missed her the last two years in a row. So my friend has never seen her.

Hope you enjoy Jiko, I've never been.
She definitely was cool and we probably would have missed her but my daughter noticed her! Hope you get to see her this year.

We are going October 11-17. I managed to snag one A&E FP so far, which is really useless when I need at least three. Can't exactly go meet them by myself without my two girls lol. I live in the Tulsa area, so not much chance I'll run into your daughter from OKC. Hope she likes Oklahoma, I grew up here and love it.
We will just miss you! I can't believe how difficult it is to get an A&E FP so that is why I got one just in case and if we don't go - I'll release so hopefully someone can grab at the last minute! You are probably right about not running into my daughter since she has only traveled south to see family in Texas and stays locally in OKC. She really does like it and loves her job - she works as a general manager for Loves.

I am really excited about Jiko and this is one of my most anticipated ADRs, so we will end our trip hopefully on a tasty note!

Love that you get to go for 10 days; that's a great amount of time to be there to really relax. I'm sure that you'll be ready to get your vacation on in less than one month - yay!!
This is the first time that we have done this long of a trip and we are excited about having the extra time so we can leave the parks when we feel like it and not feel that we have to do it all in a short amount of time. I really can't believe that it is already here. When I booked the bounce back last September it felt so far away and now I feel like I don't have enough time to get everything done!

Glad you are here and following along! :flower1: If you see us around CBR (you won't be able to miss my daughter - she looks like she swallowed a beach ball!) please say hey! I love F&W and will have a hard time going during another time, but I really want to go during when they have the christmas decorations up and do MVMCP! I hope you like it as much as we do. I really feel too young to be a gma but am really excited! If your daughter is like mine you may have little ones soon - once she got married she was pregnant within the first year and they definitely wanted to wait a while but things happen!
We called reservations and asked for requests to be put on our room. We requested adjoining rooms (which she said was already on there since our bookings are linked), 2nd floor, and close to OPR and a bus stop. I did not request a specific building since I originally wanted Jamaica or Aruba but with the bridge closed I'll take what they give me. I also did not put in any requests in when I did online check in. I will call back about 1 week prior to arrival to check to make sure they still have my requests. I really liked staying at POR last year because we could fax in room request and we got all the requests! Hope you have a great trip!

Well I'll make sure that I get there and get everything ready for you! LOL! I am getting very excited about MNSSHP and I have decided not to stress over how we will fit everything in - we will just have a few must dos/sees and the rest will be icing on the cake! We are still trying to decide on what to wear but one of the things we talked about is Bella wearing her comfy snow white dress (it is more like dressy pjs) and we could be some of the dwarves. Then we have also said we would just wear halloween t-shirts! I really want to dress up but I also want to be comfortable! I think you should go for the Alice in Wonderland costume if you like it! Hope you have a great trip and be sure to say hi if you see our motley crew!

Quick Update...
I hope everyone had a great Labor Day and either did something fun or at least relaxed. We had fun but didn't do much relaxing! We hosted Tori and Lawrence's baby shower at our house on Sunday. Even though Tori is not due until mid November, she was afraid that we wouldn't have enough time to pull everything together after our trip so we planned it before the trip! It was held outside and it was a gorgeous day - couldn't have asked for better weather. There was close to 50 people in attendance. Here are a few pictures of the shower...

Tori with Bella and one of Bella's friends. They helped with the gifts!

We also got a little something in the mail on Tuesday and Wednesday...

That's right we got our magic bands! Plus we got the new cute luggage tags! So if you are wondering why the bands are separated this way is because when I booked the bounce back last year I had to be on one room reservation and Lane on the other since we were the only adults last year. So when she asked who would be in the room, I put the guys in one and the girls in the other and now we have Skippie (which is Lane) and BabyDaddy (which is of course Lawrence) in the same room and if you look at their luggage tags it sums up how they feel about that situation! haha!

Anyway I can't believe we
are now just 3 weeks away and I feel that I still have a lot to do to get ready for our vacation - but it will all work out as it usually does! I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their week and I hope to have another update this weekend! Until then...

It looks like you had ammmmazing weather and a great event! We had okay weather, but it has been very humid these past weeks/month due to the incoming "Praying for" el nino rain system this winter. We definitely need it!

We also got a little something in the mail on Tuesday and Wednesday...

We got ours on Friday! So exciting!

That's right we got our magic bands! Plus we got the new cute luggage tags!

I'm definitely jealous with the luggage tags! We got the older mickey tags and they were the same :sad2: . But we got them and only a couple days away!!!:dogdance:

Tammy (Me): I work full time in the medical field which is stressful and am the planner of the family.
I had to go back to catch your first name....if we see you guys about the resort I didn't want to call you "Totebagg". :teeth: I just caught that you worked in the Medical Field as well.......I work in a hospital lab.

We did request Jamaica and I'm leaving it......we requested Jamaica 42 to be exact (through Touring plans....not sure how much of an impact that will leave and it probably not have an impact at all).....For you guys I'm guessing it's more important to have adjoining rooms so that's probably a safer bet to limit requests? We requested 2nd floor because I don't want crawly things anywhere near me.....plus it should give a better view (hopefully NOT of a parking lot, lol)! I will look for you guys....:beach: <-that's the closest I could get to a beach ball. It looks like our only overlap as far as parks go is Epcot on monday. We're lunching at Biergarten that day after doing 3 quick fast passes at DHS. Right now we have dinner ADRs at Tusker House but I'm not sure we'll feel like bussing to the resort then bussing to AK close to closing time for dinner. We'll see. This whole trip was about trying new places and other than BOG, every ADR has been new to us. Anyway, less than 3 weeks away :jumping1:

All caught up!! I can't believe your trip is so close!!!! I do hope you are planning on doing a TR when you get back ;)

As my day said, we couldn't have ordered better weather. I know you guys need the rain - my sister in law lives in Clovis and has said that everything is so dry so hope you guys get some rain soon!

We got ours on Friday! So exciting!
I love getting the magic bands because you know your trip is right around the corner!
I'm definitely jealous with the luggage tags! We got the older mickey tags and they were the same :sad2: . But we got them and only a couple days away!!!:dogdance:
We got the older luggage tags with our Mickey Mail and the new ones was with our magic bands underneath the section that holds the bands. If I hadn't been looking for them, I would have never found them!

I'll have to remember they're under there. Getting the magic bands and Mickey mail is always so exciting.

I would have answered to totebagg! I picked up that nickname from a coworker who said my girls were like two little tote bags and then everyone started calling me totebagg! I work on the physician practice side in administration and with all the healthcare changes it makes our jobs even more stressful!

We wanted to stay in either Jamaica or Aruba but we are fine with wherever they place us other than the pirate rooms. We had those the first year and really liked them but with Tori and Lawrence going - I'd rather stay in the regular rooms. We usually request the second floor because we like being higher but I hadn't thought about crawly things! :scared: Wow - that looks like a busy day on Monday. We really like Biergarten when we ate there a couple of years ago so we may see you in the World Showcase since we will be there in the afternoon! We really tried to incorporate several new places this trip so I am really excited! We haven't done Tusker House but I would like to do that on our next trip as I have heard really good things about it! Have a great trip!!!!

All caught up!! I can't believe your trip is so close!!!! I do hope you are planning on doing a TR when you get back ;)
I know I can't believe it either! I plan on doing a trip/dining report when I get back so I can relive the trip and all the glorious food!!!! :drinking1

:tigger:
It is and I really do love the new tags. A couple of us changed our magic band color based on the tags. I think the only ones I didn't have showing was - Pink is Daisy and Yellow is Mickey!

My friend told me the other day that she got a new luggage tag. I was like what'd you do that for? Lol. She forgot that I told her we'd be getting them.

AHH! Sadly - we do not have them :( But we did request 2 additional magic express tags last friday - so maybe we will get them!:rolleyes2

All About the Food

MickeyBar1.jpg

Food is a big part of the Disney experience for us (it's what keeps Lane coming back every year),so I started a list of must try snacks last year. While we have tried many of them, I want to see how many more I can check off my list! Here are some we would like to try this year:
  • Zebra Domes (not sure about this one now since I've heard that if you like tiramisu then you'll like this...well I don't like tiramasu!)
  • Kagori Ice – Japan (I know it is only shaved ice but it looks refreshing)
  • Brioche Ice Cream Sandwiches – France
  • Carrot Cake Cookie – HS Writer's Shop
  • Red Velvet Cupcake – HS Starring Rolls
  • Fish & Chips – Epcot Yorkshire County Fish Shop
  • Waffle Sandwiches – MK Sleepy Hollow
  • Churro - Anywhere (Can you believe I've never had a Churro!)
  • Kitchen Sink: Chocolate Lover's Edition – Beaches and Cream
  • Mickey's Kitchen Sink – Beaches and Cream or MK Plaza Ice Cream (because I want those Pants! :rolleyes1)
  • Milk Chocolate Caramel with Sea Salt (Tori wants the dark chocolate one) – Epcot Karamell Kuche
  • Pot Stickers – AK Yak & Yeti
  • Bread Service – Sanaa
  • Filet over White cheddar Macaroni – Jiko
I am worried about the food at Epcot since we are doing Food & Wine we tend not to want to try or eat anything else but I will persevere especially since there are 5 of us - we can share!

Our snacks every year are dole floats, sweet cream cheese pretzel, cinnamon bun @ Gastons, Le Fous Brew, Mickey Bars, Caramel Corn @ Karamell Kuche, and Mickey Rice Krispy Treats.

The only thing I've tried that was raved about but it was a once and one for me was School bread from Norway.

Do you guys have any favorite foods or snacks that you think we should try?

I had the Fish & Chips, a couple times. The fish was very good and I managed to eat all the fish. Batter was very crisp and light. Fish was moist and flakey.

I always get a churro for one of my snacks. :D I do enjoy them. Only time I ever eat them is WDW.

The waffle sandwiches always looked good, but unfortunately I don't think I'd be able to swallow them with my dysphagia.

Cannot say I've tried any of the rest, either. Hope you enjoy! :)
