Welcome aboard buffet

Could someone give me an idea what is included in this buffet? I read in another post someone mention that there wasn't anything that interested her kids and was wondering if I should make sure I bring some type of snack for my very picky kids. Thank you.

I seem to remember that Pluto's Dog house may be open too. (Please correct me if I am wrong). It is just outside the buffet area and serves chicken fingers, hot dogs and hamburgers.

We usually eat at the buffet and Matt (from age 4 to 7) has always found something he likes.

What type of food is on the welcome aboard buffet? Mine are relatively picky eaters so I'm hoping there are some chicken fingers or something.

I'm the one who posted about there not being much on the buffet for my kids. There were no kid friendly foods like you find at Pluto's or at dinner-chicken fingers, french fries, hot dogs, etc. If I remember there were cold cuts, fruit, cold shrimp and I really can't remember what else, but I know my kids couldn't find anything they liked. Don't get me wrong, otherwise my kids were in Kid Food Heaven-all of the above and all the chocolate milk and Mickey Bars they could stuff themselves with.

After we sat down in Parrot Cay, the server offered to get our kids some "kid food" if they didn't like anything on the buffet. They didn't find much that they liked, so the waiter gave them a couple of choices. Both kids had corn dogs, but were too excited to eat much.

That's really cool that he offered to get them some "kid" stuff. I know my picky kids and I think that I would want to do the same. Did you "ask" him to do it or did he see they weren't eating or how did that happen? I don't want to ask for it if it isn't normally done but I think it would work for us.

Last time, we boarded around 1:30pm and just checked out the ship....I don't think we even knew there was a lunch buffet. I know we ate before hand because our tickets said you couldn't get on before 1pm. Now we know better.

Our kids weren't thrilled with the buffet, but they did ok - especially my DD, who loves breads so she went crazy for all the different kinds of rolls. Don't worry, RIDISNEYLOVER, there's lots of fruits! I really enjoyed the chilled shrimp and the mango soup.
I ate quick though so I could do the ressie scramble. Later that afternoon both of our kids could be found at Pluto's eating pizza!

We didn't have to ask. The waiter told us this right as we were sitting down with our carry-on bags (before we went through the buffet line). It was great, because we didn't have to hunt for things the kids "might" eat.

when we went on our last cruise all my son would eat was peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. They even made him a club pb & j. Even at Triton's he ordered pb & j. So I think that they will accomodate as much as possible if the kids can't find anything on the menu.

When we boarded around 12:30 we went to Pluto's and had hamburgers and fries. We skipped the buffett and enjoyed not having to wait in line to eat. The Pizza place was also serving around 1:00.

I just need some clarification about the buffet. Are there two? One in Parrot Cay and the other in Topsiders? If so, what is different about them?

Thanks,

That's what DS and I did! Went to the buffet, took one look at the offerings, made a collective horrible face, and headed straight for Pluto's where we had nice, normal cheeseburgers and french fries. ;)

PiperG,
Yes, there are 2 buffetts. They offer the same food. They will direct you to Parrott Cay or Topsiders when you board.

Every time I read one these posts about picky eaters, I thank my lucky stars that both DD8 and DH eat just about anything. I told DD about the shrimp and the mango soup, and her response was "WOW! Now that's good eats!". Too much FoodTv for her, I think. :D

My DH, DS and DD will all be happy that they can get a burger and fries at Plutos! They are not buffet fans!

However, I am a buffet fanatic so I was wondering if they could pick up their meals, I could pick up my meal at the buffet, and we meet outside for a nice outdoor lunch. Is there somewhere we can do this and meet up at?

thanks!

My DD is not that picky, but her plate in the buffet looked kinda sad. Some fruit, a little salad and a couple of cold cuts. Of course, she would have eaten three deserts if we would have let her. I love these boards...now I know we can get her kid food there. Still, since we've done the buffet before, we'll probably head for Plutos because we really like the chicken strips (dad too!). The opening buffet is the only meal that I think is not very kid-friendly, and I can't figure out why they don't fix it. Throw out some chicken and mac and cheese and be done with it.

Marely--that wouldn't be a problem at all if you get your food from Topsiders and the kids get theirs from Plutos.....there's lots of outside seating right around Topsiders and some around Plutos :)

Last week on the Magic they had Mac&cheese on the buffet. My picky 5yo DD was happy. They had lots of cold cuts, cheese, fruit. Most of the hot dishes were a little "fancy" for a kids taste.

We were on the 8-17 cruise with a 2 year old, and the only kid friendly food was lunch meat and mac and cheese. I don't remember if Plutos was open, I don't recall seeing people walking around with food. They always had a ton of fruit at every buffet and they have a fruit bar at Scoops.

Have fun!

Kelly
