Weirdest names for people...(Inspired by the cat name thread)

I watch a little boy named DeVaughn after school. His sister's name is Ijah. Personally, I think they are very nice names :D . They do tend to get them mispronounced and misspelled at school though. If ds had been a girl, he would have been an Autumn. I also really like the name Raven too but I don't think I would use it. I do know a family where the dad's name is Bob, the son's name is Joe and the daughter's name is Bobby-joe. Kind of strange ;) .

The ones I know seem rather tame after some of the ones I've read....

Gunnar - nephew
Autumn - neice
Dr. Dye - vet
Dr. Smart - optomatrist
Camille Sophia - neice, she's only 2, and to be saddled with an "old lady" name (IMHO) is :( . It doesn't quite roll off the tongue).

I'll try hard not to take offense at someone thinking that "Gunnar" is a weird name. It happens to be my son's middle name and what his father calls him (I usually just call him Buddy). It is a nice, wholesome, Swedish name. But I'm sure lots of people have seen names on this thread that they thought were perfectly acceptable!:p ................P

Some of these names are just awful!!!

I've always hated the ones where the men really, really wanted boys...
Freddia (yes, Dad was Fred)
Bobbette (she was named Bobbette the 2nd since she couldn't be a Junior)

But the all-time worst name I've ever heard was Lavoris - spelled & pronounced exactly like the mouthwash!

Actually, that reminds me..... when I was a kid my Grandfather got a cat and named him "Lavoris". Remember the commercial for that product, and the people would walk around the house, searching and calling "Lavoris?" My Grandfather thought it would be funny if he had to walk around and look for the cat, calling "Lavoris"!........................P

I don't know, but, I think you win! BOOGER! Did his mother actually name him that or did he change his name as a joke?

I have had people ask me if my son is named after presidents.
I didn't even realize until someone pointed it out to me that all 3 of his names (first, middle & last) are last names of former presidents (well, of course I knew the last name was!!)
Actually I did know his first & middle name were too, but just really never thought about it like that...just really liked the names.
BTW his first & middle name is Jackson Adam (Andrew Jackson & John Adam(s) are the presidents)
And then our last name is the same as a former president also!

jacksonsmom, at least you are using presidents names for a boy and not a girl!! Of course, some people think my daughter's name is weird Mariessa (pronounced just as it looks Marie - ssa) Chyanne ( I believe someone mentioned here that they thought it was weird). Of course, everyone pronounces it Marissa ( I guess they just don't see or choose to ignore the e). What's more confusing is that I am Melissa so people switch our names all the time.

"I believe in Random Acts of Mickey, how about you?"

My last name used to be Beaver, when I was pregnant with my oldest who is named Tommy, my mom wanted me to name him after her father, his name was Harry - can you imagine -

Harry Beaver??

He would have killed me!

Now he and his wife are expecting my first grandchild, a girl and her name is going to be Cheyenne, I don't think it is that unusal, I think it is beautiful.

They did tease about naming her Ima Beaver, but decided against it!!

Thought of a few more.

A gynocologist in my area is named, I kid you not: Dr. Clapp.

A surgeon, now retired, was Dr. Cutter.
This reminded me.
The house we lived in before this one, we used to get phone calls for a Dr Ho. (our phone #'s were almost the same) We found out he was a gynocologist.

His mother named him that. They were from the side of the family that had been more or less disowned. My SIL only met this second cousin and her then beau (before the got married) once at a funeral. She said she didn't really care to run into them again LOL!

Anne

Thought of a few more:
Jaqueline Danielle (jack Daniel)
Brandi Alexandra (they are sisters)
Boniface (??)
Sunshine
Sunny
Burdette
Izzak (pronounced I-Zack)
Drittany

DH has a niece whose maiden last name is Hicks. She named her son Braxton. I kid you not!!! Fortunately the middle name is some traditional boy's name and the last name is that of her DH (not Hicks) ! ;)

ACKK! Umm, did she realize what she was doing?? Or did she just not know what Braxton Hicks are??

I know a family who has 2 boys and their names are Yohan and Ukon???? Isn't that strange!

I have a friend that wanted to name her little girl Heavenly because it took her 16 years to get pregnant with her .
The problem was their last name is Gates.
Everyone tried talking her out of it . I only had to say one thing "TOPLESS DANCER"

BTW I got to pick the her name and it is Kennedy:teeth:

She knew what Braxton Hicks contractions were.....I remember there were a bunch of giggles at her shower about it....I guess they just liked the name Braxton and figured since Hicks wasn't in the name at all, it was OK  go figure ;)

My cousin's name is Barry Picker.

The young mom of one of Isabella's classmates is named Tangee after a makeup her mother loved in the 70's. One of her daughters is named Tiara. Unusual and pretty, I think.

The doctor who took care of my entire family was Dr. Butts. We used to tease his son in high school and call him Seymour. Poor kid.

I also know a Brooke who's middle name is Lynn and her last name is ............you guessed it ........Bridges.

Boniface (??)

Boniface is a very old (Catholic) church name. There were several Popes named Boniface, in fact. But WOW!! Not something I'd want to saddle my kid with!! I thought Walter was old-fashioned when we named my son that (we call him Walt, like Disney, but the Walter is after his grandfather). Not weird, but old-fashioned ....one you don't hear used much any more. But Boniface...wonder if they were devout Catholics or something...

There is a HUGE billboard out on the interstate not far from my house advertising the services of an attorney. His name? Dick Longing. Try seeing that in gigantic red letters every time you head out to the Wal-Mart Super Center . . . :p
