Weirdest names for people...(Inspired by the cat name thread)

I worked at the credit bureau when I was in high school - it was amazing to see some of the names - and these were on legal documents.

The one that stuck out most was:

Fairie Finks

A relative named her twin sons Terry and Jerry - sounds like cartoon characters to me.

There's a VERY prominent family in England who's last name is Hoare - pronounced just like that other word that starts with a W.

I had a client whose first name is Bridalveil. My stepfather had a speech therapist whose name is Remle (pronounced Rem lee). When my mom asked her where the name came from, she told her that she was supposed to be a boy named Elmer, but when she was born a girl her parents spelled Elmer backwards and got Remle! I once represented a Dad on a stepparent adoption and the child's name is Heaven Leigh.

Boyfriend asked me to add:
He used to have a guy that worked with him whose name was
Sheethead (except, replace the two e's with an i!!!)
They used to call him that at it was pronounced, and one day his mother was there and started screaming at them "It's pronounced Sha-heed!!!"

(edited to add: I know this sounds like a complete lie, but I promise it's true! I saw his name on the schedule and everything...)

I really hope that my SIL doesn't have a boy because while Connor as a first name is fine, Connor Norad just makes me want to cry for the kid.

There were identical twins that I knew of in college that were named Carolin and Caroline. I guess their mom's name is Carol.

Apparently, their class registration would get screwed up all the time - professors would think there was a typo on the class list and skip over it, or one of them wouldn't get added to the list at all.

Some of these made me laugh out loud..... and Tamie was giggling so hard she couldn't even tell me about some of them. :p

I went to school with a set of twins (girls): Rusty and Pearly Gates.

A friend of my mom and dad's name is Jack Goff. (WHAT WERE HIS PARENTS THINKING??????) No matter how you say it........

And my brother's in-laws have three boys: Trapper, Hunter & Fisher.

My ex- BIL had a little girl named Cleo Helen. Now those are normal names (I guess if youre a disney fish) but they simply do not roll off the tongue. Their older daughter is Ella Rose.. slightly better, but Ella (not short for anything) would not be the first name I would choose.

My adopted dads name on his birth certificate is Billy. How many times he got mail addressed to William.. he hated that.

Oh yeah and I have a girlfriend with 4 kids: Michael, Malcolm, Meridith and Morgan. The parents are Matt and Margaret.
By the time she got the 4th kid she said she had to name it an M name or else he would feel left out....

Just remembered...

I have an aunt Carol. She married a guy with the last name Carroll. So, she's Carol Carroll. Confused the heck out of me as a kid!! Always just thought they were repeating her name, kinda like a nickname...but no. And she was married ages ago, so "not taking his name" was pretty much unheard of then.

my Dd has a friend who is Autumn ( not bad ) but this girl has sisters named Summer ( again not too bad ) and Spring !! ( HUH ) and if there is another child then the mom has said it will be Winter - boy or girl !!

I have a Megan she is 10.. nice easy for a kid to spell and pronounce but I have a 2nd cousin ( 6 weeks older then my meg ) who is MEAGHANN !!!!! can I tell you how mad I was when I found out they choose the same name - since we had been telling everyone for months of our choicein name and then about 2 weeks before MEAGHANN was born my cousin and wife announce they were using that name !! oh i cried for days .. but we do not see them often ( maybe once a year ) so the only tricky time is Christmas - we have to read the tags carefully - DD is now 10 and we had to hand back some packages as she read the tags and noticed her name spelled funny !!

I also have a DEVON - he is rather a devil too in our family I have uncle named BUB ( real name is harold but he signs every thing BUB )

my son has the same name ..spelled DeVaughn:teeth: my other one is Dante....my name is Calandra and my father's name is Monserrate....

I went to high school with a Swen Swenson

Dante I get. Great Italian poet. Had to read The Inferno in high school.

However, just can't see mangling it by spelling it "Dontay" like one of my preschoolers was named.

A girl here is Gypsy. Seemed an unfortunate choice to me, but as my MIL said when we told her our child's name, "I guess the parents can choose whatever name they want??"

When I was in the hospital for delivery, the OB nurse was talking about crazy names. She once had a woman who had decided on some combination of sounds to make a name, but didn't know how to spell it because she couldn't read. The nurse said she was tempted to write down Michael or John or something like that, just to give the kid a break, but instead the patient just said the name and the nurse had to spell it phonetically for the birth certificate.

Just remembered two more:

Richard Peadick

Dusty Rhoades

Thanks for the laughs everyone, this has been a blast!

I laughed out loud when I read that!!! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_102.gif' border=0></a> I love all these names I'm reading. Especially "Sh*thead". That's just awfull!! The craziest name I can think of is my friend's professor, Prof. Snotgrass. And I once met a kid whose name was Freedom.
Tell me more funny names! :p
What WERE some of these parents thinking??

I went to high school with Rusty Hammer... had a college class with Passionella Jones... Passionella? Really!

I remembered one more family. I went to college with two brothers whose family was from Taiwan. The one who was my age was Gate, and the other one was Hapi (pronounced Happy). Their last name was Dong. No lie! Hapi officially changed his name when he got out of college.

My first boyfriend had sisters named Buffy and Jody. People used to tease him that he should have been named Sissy.

Thought of a few more.

A gynocologist in my area is named, I kid you not: Dr. Clapp.

A surgeon, now retired, was Dr. Cutter.

And then a friend of my husband's told this story about a woman who named her baby boy Sh*thead (trying to avoid filter: *=i). Pronounced shuh-THEED. Apparently the doctor was unsuccessful in trying to get her to at least change the spelling, 'cuz nobody was gonna say shuh-THEED. I'm not kidding, either.

hmmmmmmmm kind of ironic..since any woman who would name her child that,,must be an A**HOLE

I bet I can top all of you with this one (but I'm sure the spelling will be sensored...) We had a patient come into our office & signed in & we had to call her name out loud when it was time for her to fill out new patient paper work. Well, we all kept pushing it off on each other & then some of us took off for the restroom because her name was too embarrassing to call out. We left the supervisor out there to do our dirty work & we all died laughing when we heard her call out "******" nice & loud! ::yes:: This person approached the window & said "it's pronounced VA-GEENA." It was spelled "******" though! :rotfl:  As I said, the rest of the office staff was just dying hiding behind the reception wall & laughing! (Sorry for the sensored word!)

Do I win a prize???? :hyper:
did anyone think of calling her MS. and her last name.....would have been too easy...

Wow.. I'm surprised at how many I was reminded of as I read this thread.

Nephew's name is Quinn... all I can think is Dr Quinn...

In Wichita there is a chiropracter named Dr. BoneBreak... no kidding!

I taught a girl named Destiny gymnastics.

And a girl in my daughters class is named Silver short for some god-awful 34 charachter hispanic name. :)

I knew a family who named their daughter Amber Coon. (Coon (middle name) was a family name they said... but what a terrible name!)

Also knew a black boy whose mom named him Simian. Now I may be wrong but I can't imagine being a black parent and naming my child after a monkey! I'm not being racist or any such thing but it was always weird to me that someone wouldnt think that the kid might not want be associated that. Maybe kids today do not know that Simians are monkeys so they wouldnt make fun of him, but when he grew up...

Coon, Simian Monkeys? Not being racist? Black People never thought of themselves as being monkeys, that was some other people's stereotype. Therefore, it would be no problem to name their child that. The spelling of that name is usually "Simeon" (as in Simeon Rice- NFL Player). It seems to me that name would only concern some ignorant person who thought of Black People as monkeys.
