I am going to disneyland in 10 days.

But I am going for only one day.

I think that that is not enough time to finish Dl and DCA.

But my parents wont listen to me.

What should i do?

what rides should i hit?

and how long should i stay at each park to get a magical experience?

I would definately get fastpasses for the big major rides and try to hit those first like SM, Indy, Splash, and BTM. Since DL opens first, it would be easier to get those rides and when DCA opens, you can go on Soarin', Screamin', or GRR. It also depends if you want to hit the rides that have long lines and don't have fps like Matterhorn, Nemo, TSMM. Sometimes ppl would want to get there first thing, while others would rather go the last thing at night. I personally like to go at night.
So if you only get one day, I'd just park hop. If DL was overcrowded, then I'd go over to DCA.

Disneylvlr great plan.

Also check out Hydroguy, he has good ideas on maximum park usage.

If you have MM early entry, and want to hit Fantasyland, that is the time for Peter Pan, Dumbo, etc.

Otherwise, Space, Indy, Splash, and BTMRR THEN POTC and HM.

Afternoons are good times for DCA! We hit DL in the First AM, afternoons DCA, and nappytime.

But still, one day is better than no days, or as I always embarass my daughter by saying...

Better than a kick in the pants!

Your day also depends on what type of visit do you want to have. Do you want to just hit the headliners? Do you want to savor some of the smaller things? How quickly do you want to walk? Do you want to go from 8 a.m. until midnight?

We just got back a few weeks ago and had three days there. That seemed to be a good amount of time and we saw both parks. It is summertime so the crowds are a bit larger. This will increase waits and also slow down movement along walkways. If you planned to go into DL first thing and hit the biggies as someone just mentioned, move over to DCA and then return to DL to get to some more rides you can see quite a bit, but you will be tired.

Here is what we observed though at DCA recently. Toy Story Midway Mania just opened in mid-June. There was a long line at the main gates 1 hour prior to park opening. We got in line and stood in the sun - no shade there. When the gates opened 30 minutes early we figured that we would head straight to Soarin'. A few people went that way, but the masses kept going around the bend. I asked a CM where everyone was going and he said that they were going to go line up at another barrier to be able to be one of the first to ride Toy Story. I asked if it would be a long line if we rode Saorin' first and he said that if you are not in the initial group we would have a 2 hour wait for Toy Story. There are no FPs for that ride. He suggested going to Toy Story about an hour after lunch and it would drop to 1 1/2 hours. That's what we did and we ended up waiting in Toy Story for 55 minutes. The line builds again in late afternoon. After Soarin' we did Tower of Terror, Aladdin Musical, Monsters Inc, Animation, ate lunch, got FPs for California Screamin' and then did a few midway rides before going on Toy Story. By the time that was done it was about 3 p.m. It took from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. at DCA to see some of the major rides. We then headed over to DL until 9 p.m., caught a parade, had dinner and rode a bunch of stuff.
