We're planning leaving (driving) from Texas on Thanksgiving day. We will pack lots of sandwiches and snacks, but I'm just curious about what will be open while we're on the road on Thanksgiving day.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much,

I don't know about the route that you are taking but we have traveled on Thanksgiving before. Very little was open. If fast food restaurants were open, they closed very early. Like after breakfast. One year we were hungry and got beef jerky and candy bars for lunch! We travel in the midwest but I have found that in the south even less is open.

The good thing about traveling on Thanksgiving is that there is not much traffic. All the semi's are home and the traveling is easy.

Gretchen...we are also leaving on Thanksgiving Day (from Ohio). We were also wondering the same thing. Guess it looks like the cooler will have a few more things in it besides drinks...LOL May I ask where you are staying and are you doing MVMCP?

Hey, Gina! I'm from Ohio too (I've been in TX since 1994)! We're planning on getting to Tallahassee on Thanksgiving Day. We'll be staying at ASSp the 28th-30th, and then POR the 30th-7th. I bought tickets for MVMCP on the 2nd. What are your plans? Great to talk to a fellow Buckeye!

Gretchen

We traveled last year on Thanksgiving only went a different route... We found that most fast food, etc were open as long as you stay close to the interstates... Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for the tip! Every bit of info helps me to feel more secure in my plans.

Take care,
Gretchen

Try any nicer hotels along the way if you all want a Turkey dinner. Have a great time. We went last year during Thanksgiving and all the decorations were up. Have fun

We traveled to Disney one year with 3 families so I was worried, seemed most everything was open and we lucked out stopping at a Shoneys at around 11:30 am and got a turkey bufffet dinner. If your on the Interstates, I don't think you'll have much trouble.
