Weird question about KTTW cards...

How thick are they? Are they as thick as a regular credit card or thinner.. more like a gift card??

I know, crazy question! LOL I'm buying a hole punch to attach the card to our lanyards and want to know just how heavy duty I need that hole punch to be! ;)

It is about the same as a standard credit card.

Note that if you are going to punch a hole in it, be sure that the hole is away from both the magnetic stripe and the bar code.

Oh, thank you! I will!! I tried using our household hole punch on a regular (exp) credit card and it won't work, so I was trying to judge to see if I needed to buy a heavy duty hole punch or if the KTTW cards are maybe thinner or something.

But, thanks to you, I now know!! :)

Why not just get a puch to put it in and hang the pouch from the lanyard? They have them at Staples for 99 cents. if you dont want to purchase a Disney one.

I would be afraid to do this. Won't it mess with it going through the thing at the turnstile or the fast pass machines? It would have to be a clean smooth cut.

Hmmmm, that's a good question. I saw it as a tip someone posted here and it seemed like a great idea for showing our tags to everyone during all of our EMHs, but I guess we'd have to take it off to go through the turn styles.. we won't be doing any fast passes, so I wasn't even thinking of that.. but the turn styles, for sure. I tested it out on a regular credit card a few minutes ago and it came out perfectly smooth and clean cut. I don't see why there would be a problem and evidently, the person with the tip didn't have one. He said everyone kept commenting on what a great idea it was because he didn't (nor any of his kids) have to keep taking it out of the plastic case thing in order to swipe it at the restaurants and countless places he used the card.

Maybe I'll ask at the front desk before I do any hole punching! LOL

Good idea. I'd just do it and if it doesn't work that day in the turnstile just get a new one from the front desk when you go back to your resort.

And if Cheshire Figment didn't say anything bad about it, I think it'd be okay. Cheshire is the Ticket King here on the boards.

I bought a pouch for the end of a lanyard during our last trip and had no problems. This trip, I bought a 12 pack from walmart and lanyards from the dollar store for everyone in our party and I still didn't spend as much as the one pouch from disney!

I'm confused.. a punch for your lanyard? What do you mean? I'm punching a small hole through the corner of my KTTW card so that I can slide it on to the j hook thing on the end of the lanyard for the kids and I to all wear. I THOUGHT it would make taking it out and showing it or using it at the countless places we will, infinitely easier.. as long as that works.

That's not what you meant, right?

I'm not sure how well it would work. You have to slide the KTTW card though the turnstile machine at the park entrance. You put it in the front and then it slides through and out the back. You will have to take it off the lanyard at that point. A lanyard with pinch would work much better and far easier.

I think the word everyone is looking for is "pouch" not pinch or punch, lol. They're suggesting you get a lanyard with a pouch, and just slide the card out of the pouch to put it through the turnstile.

Yes! For the turn style (only that one time in the morning) I would have to take it off the j-hook thing and run it through.. no big deal. But that's it for the rest of the day.. from that point on, it can stay on the lanyard to be swiped or looked at all day.

I mean, I'm not going to do it if this is going to be a problem.. the whole point was to make life simpler, not harder!! LOL

LOL!!! Okay, I get it now!!

You're not doing fastpasses? At all? How come?

None of my business of course, just curious. :flower3:

You'd have to take them all off for the fast pass machines too, and if you used them for charging to the room, don't they slide them for that too?

NM, you said you weren't doing FPs(can't imagine not using them) and I guess you slide the card with it around your neck.

I just use the clear pouch. The CMs should be able to see it without you taking it out of there.

I was wondering the same thing.

OP, you are aware that there is no cost to use FP and it's open to everybody, right?
It is nothing less than awesome, IMHO. ;)

Not the OP, but I seldom use FP. I travel during slower times of year when they sometimes don't even have the FP operating. Most of the times I've gotten a FP, I haven't used it, so I just don't bother unless I happen to be traveling with someone instead of going solo, and they want to see something specific that we need a FP for.

I will be at WDW for 10 days starting Tuesday, and I doubt if I'll get one FP the entire time I'm there. Most of the attractions I enjoy will probably be walk ons, and when it's really hot outside it's not so bad to wait a half hour or so for Soarin in the A/C.

Of course, I have an AP and I visit often, so there's a big difference between me and someone taking their once a year, or even once in a lifetime, trip. I have nothing against FP, I just don't seem to need it much.
