Weird password glitch torpedoes chances at 7 month window

My daughter generally gets to spend her birthday at WDW (I know; lucky girl!). We've owned DVC for a couple of years, and I always book at 7 months. Since we've stayed at bigger resorts during some slower DVC times, it hasn't been an issue. However, this year my daughter really wanted me to book a studio at either Beach Club, Grand Floridian, or both for a 2/2 day split. Her preference, though, is 4 nights at BCV.

My 7 month window opened yesterday morning for our dates. At 2 a.m. eastern (midnight my time) there was availability at BCV. So I logged back in at 6 a.m. and--gah-- I typed my password that I've had for three years in wrong? So I tried again and checked cap lock. No go. So for the third and last attempt I chicken-pecked my password in sloooowly, and-- I got locked out. I stayed calm, and I ordered a password reset email. Nothing. Over the next HOUR I never got a password reset email (I tried 3 times) and when my account was unlocked it still wouldn't recognize my password. So I had to wait for MS to open.

MS opens, so I call them. 8 minute hold. But I'm on my way to work and I get 6 min. in and the call drops. I call back. 16 min. hold. I wait 14 min. and a rep gets on the line, goes to check something, and I get cut off. So I call back. Expected 18 min. hold. The rep answers, and I explain what happened and of course 2 of the 4 nights at BCV are gone, and what's left are the first and last nights of our stay. She can see that there is something weird with my account. Just mine. No issues with anyone else's that she knows about after asking around. Her supervisor offered to put us first on the wait list for BCV, which I accepted. Our dates are pretty much fixed, so I didn't see another option.

The MS rep was so nice, but I am so bummed that a strange IT issue caused us to miss a good opportunity. I'm not sure if we would have gotten what we wanted, but our chances were infinitely better at 6 a.m. than nearly 3 hours later. Hopefully the wait list will come through. Anyway, just venting.
 
Sorry about that! The whims of the electronic world strike again! Can't blame you for being frustrated. Did you book the existing two days and just wait list on the other two? Seems like you might be able to get it.

Did you book an alternate?
 
Sorry that happened. Easy to see why you are disappointed.

Hope your account gets fixed so that you can check every so often yourself to see if BCV opens up. And it's good to have priority on the waitlist. Good luck!
 
I just got locked out a few days ago. The MDE login and password overrode our DVC password and login. According to tech support, this is happening to a lot of accounts.

The request for your info to be emailed can take a few days if at all per tech support.

We did a reset and now use the MDE info for DVC.

Yeah, mine was magically back to normal by that afternoon. I've been able to log in just fine since. I haven't really decided what we're going to do yet, so I'm just seeing how much things change if people are walking reservations, etc. I should probably call and book the two available nights, because I didn't do that. The thought of being on hold for what feels like a century isn't that appealing, though. ha ha.

The whole thing was pretty frustrating, but in the overall scheme of life's problems it qualifies as a pretty little one. ::yes::

Oh, and I have the same log-in already for DVC and MDE, and I know the accounts are somehow connected, but I don't usually access DVC from MDE? I didn't even know you could do that, I guess. Maybe I've just never tried.
 
Yesterday morning I also was having issues logging in but it was all starting at the point that it was getting errors loading the log in page. Finally on my tablet I was able to get in.

I also have the same login for both MDE and DVC although it used to be 2 different passwords. Magically it became the same approx a year or so ago. :rolleyes:

OP - just pointing out that since your login is working now you don't have to call in to book, you can do it online. However you wouldn't be able to book that 2nd night that was available until the 7 month mark opened up for it in 2 days but you can book the first if it's still available now.
 
Yeah, I just called (only a 4 min. wait) b/c I thought they'd be able to override the system to book that 4th night. Nope. I could have done it online as you said.
 
That stinks. I too had problems getting in the other day. My husband is also an owner so I had set up an account for him as a backup. The other day it told me I typed the wrong pw so I logged in with his account and got in. Op that was certainly a nightmare I've had in the past right before booking a hard to get reservation. Last year my daughter couldn't get a reservation for BCV for early May, but did waitlist and got it. That was at the 7 month window. Good luck.

See, that happened to me a couple weeks ago. I wasn't trying to book anything so I didn't call or do a reset. Especially since I KNEW I was typing it in correctly. I figured it was a glitch, left it alone, and the next time I checked (not that day but not sure how much later apart from that) it was all fine.

I"m sure we're all shocked to find out there's something wrong with their system.
 
I wasn't shocked, but was disappointed. Today was the day I was able to book my fourth night (since I had to waitlist the middle two nights I couldn't book the fourth until today). Was online at 6 a.m. and had no issues. I then called MS and asked them if they could drop my waitlist request from 4 days to the 2 I'm missing figuring it has a much better chance of being fulfilled that way. After speaking with a supervisor, the rep was able to keep us priority. So I'm hopeful it will work out.
