weird hrs for Epcot on Oct. 9??

We're planning a trip for Oct 5-11 and I was checking park hrs. (This is very late planning for an obsessive/compulsive person like me!!) Why is Epcot (both FW and WS) only open from 9 to 3 on Oct 9? I'm sure it's something I should know, but I'm stumped.

That's the media event for Mission: SPACE and (hopefully) Soarin' over California.

Media event. You know...big, fancy grand opening event with invited guests and people from television, newspapers, etc. Closed to the general public.
