Weird Dining Workaround

I recently booked a 3-night Dream cruise for November, only 50 days away. Most of the advance reservation dining is already booked up. Interestingly, when I tried to book what initially showed as available for the two of us, it gave a message that the dining was unavailable. Then I went in and booked it separately for myself and for him at the same times, and that worked. Weird, as there are no tables that only fit one at Palo and Remy, so it doesn't make sense that they could accommodate two singles at the same time, but not one couple. Seems to be a glitch. Has anyone booked this way, and then had them put the reservations together upon boarding? Usually in this situation I would just wait to board to book the restaurants as I know they have extra availability for that, but we'll be boarding on the later side and my travel companion is taking his first and probably only Disney cruise, and will really enjoy the restaurants, so I don't want to take any chances of not dining there on the days we want.

You should be fine. I can't explain the glitch (I understand why it won't let two people book a 4-top, but only allowing singles when the smallest tables are 2-tops makes no sense). One time when I cruised concierge, I didn't book my Palo reservations myself and was surprised that they only showed one guest (my name and not my travel companion). Worried, I called guest services and they explained that Palo 2-tops can be booked as one guest/one guest name because as you mentioned, the smallest tables are 2-tops. So right now, you and your friend have reservations that can accommodate up to four guests between your two reservations. I'd say leave both reservations and just ask when you board. Palo will likely be able to cancel one of the two without penalty because of the glitch.

You should have no problem combining the reservations once you’re onboard. You can stop by the location for dining changes on embarkation day, or stop by Palo the first evening and talk to the castmember at the check-in desk.

I agree that booking in advance was the right decision, because now you know you and your companion have reservations.

On my last cruise I had to call to book any Palo res due to a glitch. The CM booked two individual reservations for me and my friend (or at least it showed that way on the app.)

When we got on board they had magically been combined into one res.

Very interesting.
Good to know.
I am sailing 11/4 on the Dream.
I was able to get Palo and Remy for dinner, but Palo for brunch. Maybe I will need to try the single guest way.

Thanks🚢👍🏻😎🌴

We had to book for two and one in both Remy and Palo multiple times to get reservations for three on our June Dream cruise. We were all seated together when I checked after embarkation.
