I know this has been posted before.

Who counts points while at WDW?
Is it worth it to try?

Even with foods we THINK are healthy, I'm sure they are not prepared healthy - butter, oil, etc.

Any tips?

I am not worried because of all the exercise, just curious to see how others do.

I can tell you, I just started WW 3 weeks ago, and am trying to lose some "extra" weight for our upcoming trip in September, because I can tell you for sure, I will NOT be counting any points during vacation! Diet is off at that time. That's just me. However, I would think it would be very difficult, unless you plan on eating just salads, fruit, veggies and steamed fish or broiled meats. It would be too hard to know for sure, so I say, just walk a little more (Lord knows, there's plenty of that to do there), and have a good time!

I agree. With all of the walking, sweating and swimming you do, you are bound to break even. I pig out when I am on the cruises and still do not manage to gain weight. And trust me, I am a person who gains very easily. What is nice about these boards is that you know where you can go to see the menus and plan ahead of time what you are going to order at each restaurant. :thumbsup2

I do WW too and on my last two trips I actually lost weight :) I find I don't want to eat as much because it's so hot. I don't count points but I do pay attention to what I eat. For example, for lunch I might split an order of fries with DFi instead of us having two orders of fries. I also try to get salad and fruit as much as I can. Water is much easier to drink in Florida because it's so hot... as long as its the bottled variety :goodvibes

I'm on WW and went for Free Dining last year and going again this year. I tried to be good at breakfast and lunch. I had fruit, salads or split some meals for lunch. For dinner I had what I wanted, but no bread. I did eat a dessert every meal. For snacks I had fruit and popcorn. It was so hot that I really wasn't that hungry. Of course I drank my water and walked miles each day. I didn't gain any weight. When I was home, I did find it a little hard to get back on program. I was craving sweets more after dinner. It took me about a month to get back on track.

I am on weight watchers and when i went in sept 06 for free dinning i was on weight watchers. i thought for all of the walking i was doing for 7 days i would be ok. but i gained 3 pounds. i ate like crazy though. coke, dessert i was bad, this time i will do better. good luck:cool1:

I'm not on WW, but I've lost 80 pounds and do watch what I eat when I'm at Disney much of the time. I'll have dessert, but I try to ask to have my foods not cooked in not so much butter, etc. I do wish they'd put nutritional information on all their menus. I plan to do reviews on my site in September about eating healthier on the dining plan at Disney.

I do walk plenty - I'm not just worried about losing/gaining weight, I want to put decent food into my body most of the time. Let the junk food be junk food, and try to make better choices the rest of the time.

I too am on WW. While at Disney I eat mostly whatever I want. I usually gain about five pounds during the week, but if I get right back on track when I get home, I can usually shed that by my next weigh-in day. I have done this successfully for the past three vacations.

I found that doing WW I got used to eating less during a day and tried to keep it that way while at WDW. I tried to watch out what I was eating and tried to keep it somewhat healthy. I still ate many more points than I was supposed to and I did gain weight. I do not believe that just by walking around you will work of all the hidden fat in the food. However, because I tried to keep my mind set on it, it was much easier to get back to living with my points when I returned than after a holiday where I did not do that.

That is how I feel about calories. I was just in Europe for 10 days, I ate quite a bit more than I normally would. Not all bad food, just more calories. In my case, I was extremely active so it wasn't a problem. I did have a pastry in France each day (as well as fruit and applesauce - to have something healthier), and ice cream twice at Berthillon.

I didn't gain weight. I actually did watch what I ate - had I not, I'd probably have been taking in another 1000 calories than I already was. I prefer to keep on a similar track as normal, keeping an eye on calories and foods. And if I am exercising more than the norm, I especially need the healthier foods for fuel.

I didn't count while at WDW but I sort of watched what I ate. I tried to make good choices and lord knows I walked a gazillion times more than I do than at home. I still gained 3 pounds. I was able to be back at my WI before I went on vacation in less than a week. I think a lot of the 3 pounds had a lot to do with just eating more in general. Good luck - it's difficult to make good choices at WDW, unless you exclusively eat at TS restaurants and make special requests.

It'd be nice if they had more steamed veggies and such, instead of soaking so much in butter. :)

I think it's extremely difficult to even attempt to count points. We are going in September and I am just going to try to stick with as many natural foods as I can -- salads, fruit, etc. And of course, will be walking a ton! So, hopefully it will all balance out.
