My DH and I have been on WW since August 1 using some old materials I had lying around. I've lost 44 lbs. and he's lost 34 (he cheats!). I've read about the newest program, but the older one is working fine for us so we're going to stick with it.
Here are some points-friendly foods we like:
Breakfast - Sandwich thin (1 pt), 1/2 cup egg sub. or 3 egg whites (1 pt), 1 serving Canadian bacon (1 pt), 1 slice low-fat American cheese (1 pt). This makes a very tasty and filling breakfast sandwich. We alternate with 1 cup cooked oatmeal (2 pts) topped with 1 cup bran flakes (2 pts). I add Splenda and cinnamon to mine. DH adds brown sugar and milk to his.
Lunch - We eat Boca Burgers almost everyday. If you get the Original Vegan kind, they're 1 pt. Use a sandwich thin (1 pt) or an 80 calorie bun (1 pt) with 1 slice of low-fat American cheese (1 pt). I add a little ketchup but not enough to count. The whole burger is only 3 points. I have this at work with a bag of pretzels (2 pts).
Dinner - I load up on veggies at dinner since it's hard to eat them at work (I usually eat standing up in a preschool room and need portable foods). We have chicken or turkey breast (3 pts), baked potatoes (3 pts) or brown rice (4pts a cup). I almost always have a big salad at dinner with low or non-fat dressing. I like to add 1 point worth of croutons to make it crunchy. I also make broccoli, green beans or whatever else we have around.
Snacks - We both like air-popped popcorn. You can make a huge bowl with 6 tablespoons of popcorn for 4 points. We use a little I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray and salt. Sometimes I have an apple or pear (1 pt each) with 1/2 cup of low-fat cottage cheese (2 pts).
We still eat at our share of restaurants. Many have light menus and nutritional guides on the tables. We know what we can have at our old stand-by restaurants. Before we go to new ones, we look up the menu online and figure out what would be best. Last night, my sister picked up take-out for my b-day from a non-chain pizza place. They didn't have a nutritional guide on their website so we had to guess. I got a house salad w/ranch and used just a tiny bit of dressing and an individual veggie pizza with no cheese. I sprinkled on a little grated parmesean and it was fine. For my b-day cake, I asked my mom to make an angel food cake which is fat free. I was down almost 1/2 a pound this morning so I think I did fine!
Hope this info. helps people with their WW food choices!
