Leaving in 6 days and I am on WW. I lost 36 lbs already and really am concerned about the eating at Disney (because everything is so darn good!!!!) What has anyone eaten anywhere in WDW that is good and alittle lower calorie?....

Great job!!! I am lifetime but am over my goal- when we were at Disney years ago and I was at Disney I lost 3 lbs- We walked so much i really didn't stay on plan- just eat lots of salads and drink the water and I bet you'll lose-I am always terrible in the summer and usually gain 5 or more lbs. We go in July and I hope I won't gain alot!! My problem is I like to have a cocktails at night- which equal too many calories!!! anyway Congrats and you'll do fine!!!

The Land is excellent for counting calories, and a lot of the CS restaurants are now selling some excellent wraps. Keep in mind you're going to probably be getting a workout every bit as good from any gym with all the walking you'll be doing, and don't forget the good ol' big drink of water before eating and you'll do great! Congrats and good luck!

Congrats to you for losing the weight... What I think is great w/ WW is that you can eat anything... with that said... Imo: I think great options for snacks would be fruit, popcorn, ice pops, and the great selections of lowfat/ sugar free bakery items they have. When your in the restaurants you can eat a bunch of things, just skip out on all the carbs and replace the bad choices w/ good. Disney restaurants are great in accomidating to your needs and your constantly walking so that takes some points away for you to use on other "needed" things....
Good luck w/ your choices and I hope this helped..... Again, wtg on losing ur weight !:) :) :)

There is a website called Dottie's Weight Loss Zone (dwlz.com)
where they share good ideas on weight loss, especially Weight
Watchers. They have great suggestions for travel.

Congratulations on your loss. That is just wonderful!

Way to go! As a bit of peer pressure, we're going to insist you come back on after your trip and post about what a great job you did :)

i would recommend NOT to do any of the "dining plans" - you'll save money and calories if you are trying to stay on plan.

there are plenty of good options for staying "on plan" throughout the parks, resorts and downtown disney.

it's the same common sense you've exhibited so far -
hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
fruit, veggies, lean protein, dairy

you'll be doing a lot of walking - try to walk even more!

my mom is a weight watchers life member (22 yrs and counting) and she does just fine in disney - she's been going once or twice a year in all of those 22 years and she always comes back either not gaining or losing weight!

you can do it - have fun!

You CAN go to Disney and totally enjoy yourself. Every trip we have had the DP and I can honestly say that I ONLY gained a max of 4 pounds (that was the Christmas trip). The past trip was in May 06 we were there 7 days and I gained 1 pound. I did have appetizers, desserts, AND bakery items. I am a 'recovering' 2 total knee replacements patient (1 yr) struggling with my own weight issues and I can totally relate to great weight loss and the fear of gaining it back. There are plenty of options to be 'healthy' even on the dining plan. Just because the appetizers / desserts are offered doesn't mean you have to get them. If you really want them....share. Also, I was told by CM's that they WILL substitute veges for carbs (ie...more green beans instead of mashed potatoes, etc.). So, go...have a great time...and if you do gain a few...don't sweat it. Just work a bit harder AFTER the vacation. Another great tip....which I am sure you know....drink PLENTY of water.

Congratulations! I lost 27.4 pounds on WW, and have gone to Disney and gained 1.4 back, but I enjoyed myself, did lots of walking ...should have drank more water! I ate what I wanted, was on the meal plan, however, I really was conscious of the fattier foods, and tried to stay away from them...I did however have fish and chips one day, and a few bites of DD's funnel cake. Also had a few cocktails, so all in all, only gaining the 1.4 lbs. was good. First week back from vacation stuck to program and lost the 1.4 plus another .6!!!!!
Go, enjoy, and get back on program the day you return!

My honey was working really hard to avoid gaining too many pounds, but still enjoy our vacation in December. While we certainly ate several meals that were not low calorie, there were lots of great meals that were much more sensible. If you check out the menus over at AllEarsNet.com you will find that there are some really good choices out there, even at the CS locations. You just need to do some researching and planning. Gabby says that two excellent salads still stand out in her mind....the Colony Salad, served at lunch at LTT in the MK and the Tusker House Chicken Salad over at AK. Both were not your average salads, but were very fresh and a nice sensible choice when you are surrounded by lots of no so sensible low call options and opportunities to totally trash your diet at carts nearly every 30 feet. Happy meal planning! Maggie

More power to you if you want to stay on your diet...hope you achieve your goals :) I'm sure you can do it, there looks to be lots of chicken and fish, and im sure the chefs are very accomadating at the restaurants. Buffets are always a good bet to as you can sort of control your eating there.

but...as for me (cuz its always about me lol...j/k)

i'm on a diet right now...low carb, and losing well. But...and i have to say its just me..I do not intend to stay on my diet while on vacation, and i do plan to gain 10lbs ! lol :rotfl:

I can lose it when i get home, i dont get vacations like this one very often if ever and by gosh im going to enjoy it to the fullest no food holds bar!

Thanks to you all for the words of encouragement. This is my 4th (and last) time I plan on losing this much weight. I have another 30lbs to go.
**Thanks about the DWLZ web site but I am already a regular on that. We love to eat out and that site really helps to figure out what I am going to order before I get to a restaurant.
*** I guess what I will do is make sure I have my water....ask for veggies instead of carbs....and watch to sweets. Does anyone know how many points those icees are at POP?....(looking forward to a couple of them)

...I will let everyone know how I did when I return.... Thanks for all the support..... I am 44 years old and can't wait to feel like 14 again at WDW!!

Do let us know, I'm 3.6 lbs from my goal (96.4 gone!!!) We go to WDW in December, on the Dining plan, I am already a little worried, however, I do know NOW how to make good choices, and that 10 days does not my whole life make. I will be walking walking walking and pushing DH's manual powered wheelchair when his arms need a break. It will be all good. And if by chance I bring home a few souveneer pounds, I know what to do to get them off.

I've lost exactly 30 pounds and hope to have about 25-30 more off before we go to Disney in September.

That being said though I don't plan on trying to stick exactly to plan. Its just one week and its vacation. Plus with all the walking and all the water I don't think I could possibly gain more than a few pounds.

I went off program for the entire month of March and when I say I was off program I was OFF program. Ate anything and everything. When I finally beat myself up and went back I had only gained 9 pounds. Thats for a month being totally off plan! So I'm not going to worry about Disney. I'm going to enjoy myself and since I paid for a year when I joined I'll be sure to get right back on program after vacation.

That's great! COngrats! That said I had lost 11 pounds before our trip last year and didn't give diet one bit of thought and managed to lose another 2 pounds in Disney. All the walking is great. I did avoid the funnel cake and ice cream push carts.
I ate my regular breakfast in the room daily but for lunch and dinner I ate what I wanted. It was vacation and that is the time to enjoy yourself.
I say keep diet in mind but don't forget to live a little. Life awaits you when you get home!

I had stayed faithfully OP until our April trip and then that week I ate EVERYthing - and I do mean everything - that came my way. Ok....maybe not everything but for lunch and dinner and dessert I had whatever I wanted. I lost 2 lbs somehow - from all the walking?

If you plan to walk a lot I wouldn't worry.

I found that I do better ordering what I want and just eating a limited amount of it. So at LeCellier for example I ordered the cheese soup and was perfectly happy eating about 5 bites, half my steak, and half of my dessert. Buffets were very easy with all the salad stuff and things like steamed shrimp.

Yvonne

I'm down about 13 pounds on WW, too, and I don't intend to go totally overboard on our vacation, but I am going to indulge a bit and ENJOY every bite! I will be ordering lots of salads - and they're SO good on a hot summer afternoon in Disney. I'll be drinking at LEAST 10 8oz. servings of water each day, and with all the walking I'm hoping to stay the same. But even if I gain, it's no big deal to me. I know how to take it off after we're back.

Good luck and enjoy your trip and CONGRATS on the weight loss so far!!!

I'm on WW, also, and I just got back from a 10-day trip, 6 of those on the dining plan. I didn't think about WW one time while gone, and I lost 2 pounds! I was perfectly OP up until the day before I left, and back OP the day after I got back. And I enjoyed myself while I was there!

Hey, none of us ended up on WW because of what we ate on vacation (unless you vacation 4+ times a year, I guess), it's what we ate in between. The worst thing you could do is say, "Hey, I'm going to blow it on vacation so I'll eat _____ (insert garbage here) now." or "Hey, I gained __ over vacation, so I might as well just do what I want for another week/month/year before I go back to WW."

Good luck and have fun whatever you decide to do! And congratulations on your fantastic loss! :woohoo:

DH and I are both overweight and we love our food! We always indulge more than usual while at WDW. My secret is that I always start with a healthy serving of fresh fruit at breakfast (especially the buffets!) and a nice, tasty, healthy salad at dinner. This fills me enough so that I don't stuff myself with the entree (or the buffet offerings), and I even have dessert after dinner almost every night. We skip lunch because we usually have a hearty breakfast (although DD needs to have lunch because she's usually too excited to eat much at mealtime in WDW). We do so much walking (I brought a pedometer along this May and we walked 6 - 7 miles per day) that DH lost 1 pound and I maintained my weight! And let me tell ya, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and did not feel deprived at all - you can do it, too!

Have a great time!

:sunny:
