We're arriving around 5:30pm in Oct and are using ME. We'll be staying at SSR and may use wegoshop for grocery delivery. Do you think we would get to the resort, check in and have enough time to make wegoshop's evening delivery deadline of 9-9:30pm? We've only used ME twice, once in Dec when we walked right onto the bus and once in May when we waited for 1 hour in the airport before getting on a bus.

I don't want to spend any time the next morning waiting for them and I'm trying to avoid paying the 13% fees for credit card and bell services fees.

Speaking of which, does anyone know why they charge 10% gratuity to leave items with bell services? I'm assuming bell services doesn't get that money so I'm not sure what the fee is actually for.

WOW... they charge a lot more than they use to. I don't even think it is legal to charge extra for the credit card fee? 10% to leave it with bell hop and then, you have to tip bell hop when you get the groceries. Plus, you still paid the delivery fee. So, let me get this straight they are charging a grocery fee, delivery fee, a credit card fee and a bell hop fee. Sounds a little excessive to me. With all those fees, I wouldn't tip. Sounds like they are trying to guarantee their tip amound.

I was gonna use them on my next trip but those credit card fees and bell hop fees are too much. So, I will probably use gardengrocer.com instead.

It's not illegal to charge a credit card fee. Many places actually do this.

I would think the 10% fee for leaving the groceries with bell services is their tip and would not tip extra when the groceries are delivered. However, it would be good to clarify this before ordering.

I would think 9:30 would be plenty of time. If your flight lands at 5:30, it takes you an hour to get to ME, and hour to wait in line, and an hour to get to your resort (that's a lot of "cushion" time IMO), then you'd still be to your resort by 8:30. I would think a 9:30 delivery time would be fine. Of course, this is barring delayed flights or something which is impossible to predict. In that case, you'd probably just have to call them and make other last-minute arrangements.

It is in California. YOu cannot charge one price for cash customers and one price for credit card charges. Some companies did get grandfathered in but that was like 20 years ago. I know, some places charge an ATM fee but they were grandfathered in on this law passed in California...

So, speaking from experience in California it is against the law. Personally... I wouldn't do business with a company that feels they need to charge a credit card fee.

The fees seem high to me. Almost the same price of renting a car and buying the groceries yourself. I use a grocery service here in California every week and it is only $9.95. And the drivers aren't allowed to accept tips. So, I feel the fees are kinda high...

...So, let me get this straight they are charging a grocery fee, delivery fee, a credit card fee and a bell hop fee...

They charge the following:

1) The cost that they paid for your groceries
2) A flat $17 delivery fee

That's it, as long as you are in your room at the time of delivery and pay cash or check - plus any tip you would choose to provide the delivery person.

If you are not in your room at the time of delivery and they have to leave the groceries with bell services, wegoshop.com also charges

3) 10% gratuity
4) 3% credit card fee

I can understand charging a credit card fee since it does cost merchants to submit the payments to the credit card companies, but it should be a flat fee, not based on your order total. Depending on your order total, these extra fees could really add up! That's why I'm trying to make sure we're in the room when they arrive, but not miss out on any of my vacation to wait around for them.

I had a delivery last month and paid via credit card - no fee for that. Just the ticker price of the groceries plus the flat delivery fee.

What they'll do is schedule a delivery time based on when they expect you to be in your room, and ask you to call Marge or Amy on the cell phone when you are actually there. They do not really want to leave groceries with bell services, they want you to be there in your room and try to arrange it that way.

To the poster who said you could rent a car yourself for less - you are not going to get a one-day car rental in Orlando for $17.

Maybe they just charge the cc fee for groceries left at bell services. This is from their website:

Nope.. I was referring to if you paid all 4 fees... So. let's do the math on a $100 grocery bill. There is a $17 grocery fee, delivery fee, $3 credit card fee (100 X 3%), $10 ($100 X 10%) bell hop fee. You've spent $30 before delivery fee and tipping. So, let's say all the fees come to $50 after tipping and delivery fee. Wow... 50% of your total grocery bill is on fees. Doesn't sound worth it to me!!

It just wasn't worth the hassle on vacation to have to call them to get the order right, etc.. I just let it go. This was with the old owner so things might have changed. If it was EXCELLANT and ABOVE BEYOND service yes.. I'd pay the $45 fee but it isn't. I'm not cheap by any means... I'm usually very generous person and I tip well...

We used wegoshop last week. I scheduled the delivery for Sunday at 4pm. The delivery was a little delayed because I waited for the 2 bdrm to be ready rather have the groceries delivered to the studio. Amy came right to the room and unloaded the bins with me checking the list. I didn't have any frozen items, but did have milk, yogurt and eggs on the list. Paid the receipt price which was over $100 plus $22 delivery charge with cash. I added a little more over than because it was so quick and easy.

Schedule the latest time possible. If you schedule a 8:30pm delivery, you should be OK. Marge emailed me to call when we knew our room number. Also I told them to use Publix because I could check their weekly flyer online to get some weekly specials. This is the reason I chose wegoshop over gardengrocer, being able to view Publix's flyer and I also said to use Whole Foods (I know Whole Foods). I was able to add to my order 2 days before delivery. Also email Marge directly, she was very nice emailing and on the phone with my questions. Your cost should be taking delivery in your room and paying cash - grocery receipt plus delivery fee ($17 for under $100 and $22 for $100 - $200)

Maybe the delivery fee plus fees if you are paying by credit card might equal the cost of car rental for a day BUT for me I do not want to be grocery shopping on my vacation because I'm the only one doing the shopping while everyone else is out in the resort/parks. At least when I'm cooking, the family gathers together and I want to be with my family, not alone in the grocery store.

IF brought to your room at the time you request and pay with cash/check that is it and you may tip as you please.

IF you need to pay with credit card there is a 3% fee..... $3.
I understand this, it covers the expense of the credit card transaction.

IF you need to have bell services accept your groceries they will charge a 10% gratuity fee........ $10.
Which you would have given them anyway as a tip assuming decent service. You may also want to tip bell services for storing and delivering you items.

If you look at Garden Grocer you will notice that the items are marked up some degree. Not as much as Disney so it seems cheap but that is where they are making their money. They have to make it somewhere! I personally like the WeGoShop fee structure right out there in the open. Groceries at cost and all the fees outlined and reasonable. Over the years have have only heard good things about WeGoShop (with the exception of the ownership change a few years ago). Not so with Garden Grocer.

Let me start over... I would HAVE TO use the bell hop and the credit card because we WOULD not be there to receive the groceries and pay in cash. The reason you ask is that I live in California. Most likely I would be checking in around 10 pm or midnight by the time my flight arrived.

Maybe I tip too much. If it were me I'd give the bell hop $5 and Wegoshop an extra $10. So, if you add those on to all the fees that comes to $45 for ME... I find that TOO EXPENSIVE

Grocery prices in Florida are way less than California so, I don't think Garden Grocer is over priced.

HOw much is the delivery fee?

On a $220 grocery bill last month (we eat far more in the suite than dine out), I paid the $22 delivery fee, which included fresh food, frozen food, and wine. I paid via Amex and Amy did not charge me additional for that.

She was there within a half hour of check-in and as we went through my list, it was clear she had shopped with care, so I gladly tipped her $10 (which was probably low now that I think about it).

Total of $32. Completely worth it to me not to drag around the grocery store after a long flight with two hungry kids. Pizza was in the oven for them and wine uncorked for me 45 minutes after we got to our room.
