I voted Sm Mnts too.....never been and I have seen some beautiful photos of the waterfalls and landscape....gotta do it sometime soon.

PPix posted some pics a few months back of somewhere they went a couple of years ago, I cant remember the destination though, Ami, do you remember what Im talking about? The photos were awesome, and I had written down the destination, but apparently I must have deleted it sometime along the way

BTW, I voted for Stone Mountain because that is the only place I've never been on the list.

I'd also like to visit the Dakotas. They are 2 of the states I've never been to.

I voted Yosemite because that's the only one I've never been to. I'll also comment on the others:

Smoky Mountains - Cherokee, North Carolina - beautiful. Camped here way before DS was ever born. I'll take him there when I think he can handle the bears.

Stone Mountain - Currently, our second favorite place to camp (of course the Fort is #1)

Florida Keys - Been to Key West many times but some of the people there are just way too scary. I don't think I could camp there. Maybe I could at some of the other parts of the Keys.

I voted for Yosemite. We hope to make a trip to the Northwest in 2009 or 2010 (hoping diesel comes down some). I want to see Mt Rushmore, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons and Yosemite. We spent last summer in the southwest. We saw Grand Canyon (my fav), Zion, Bryce, Rocky Mtn and more. It was an awsome trip! This summer we going to the Fort with stops at Smoky Mtn and Williamsburg.

stacktester - here is a link with info about Smoky Mtn NP campgrounds NPS campgrounds. There are a few that allow longer trailers. Last time we were there we stayed in Gatlinburg at twincreekrvresort. It was a convenient location just outside of the tourist area but kind of pricey. Pigeon Forge has some campgrounds too, but it was very crowded - outlets and mini golf everywhere! I have heard Townsend is nice quiet place to camp but we have not been there. This summer I am looking for a place near Cherokee because I think it will be easier than pulling the camper to the other side of the park.

Anyway, I used to/still do love Smokey Mountains but we were there last June and it was a little depressing because it is so overcrowded, they still smoke in restaurants in some (most) places and I'm a smoker but it was really gross going into a restaurant that allowed smoking.

Then we took the "drive" through the national park and that depressed me further because of all the cars going through the mountains emitting their smoke.

I think If we go again, it will be on the Carolina side too.

While you're planning, remember Pigeon Forge is DRY

We stayed at the Park Vista hotel, which allowed us to bring our small dog Daisy. This was a great place for us. They have a trolley to take you to town and it's more fun to walk around anyway while in Gatlinburg.

My DH highly recommends the Pancake Pantry on the main strip in town. In fact, we have to drive through Gatlinburg whenever near by to stop there for breakfast.

I know this is a mixed review and now that I'm about finished I guess I haven't been helpful at all. I think it's become a love/hate destination.

I had an entire Western trip planned for Utah and then up into Yellowstone. 3 weeks of real estate I have never seen, then this pesky $4 gal dieslel fuel came around and stole my trip.

I saw the ads for the ghost tours when we were there last year. We did the self guided driving tour over the same days of the year as the battle. I have stood on many battlefields and felt a presence on EVERY one.

I voted other. We will probably go to Myrtle Beach camping in June then FW in August. If June doesn't work out we will do Dollywood and Pigeon Forge for a few days and stay 2 weeks or so at FW in August. Trying to avoid the crowds....................... Can't avoid the price of GAS

DFamily and I did an amazing trip in Aug/02. We started in Albuquerque, NM, where we rented a class C. From Albuquerque, we went north through Santa Fe NM, Colorado Springs CO, Denver CO, Cheyenne WY, Casper WY, Cody WY (through Shoshone National Forest) to Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone was amazing. Pictures don't even do it justice. From Yellowstone to Gallatin National Forest in Montana then down to Grand Teton National Park (my favorite - it is absolutely breathtaking ~ again, pics don't do it justice) to Jackson WY. From Jackson WY across and down to Bear Lake in Idaho then on to Salt Lake City UT then to Zion National Park, then to Las Vegas NV. From Vegas, across the Hoover Dam then on to Grand Canyon (AWESOME). From the Grand Canyon down through Flagstaff and into Sedona AZ (beautiful). From Sedona, through Cibola National Forest and then back to Albuquerque.
It was the most amazing trip - definitely the trip of my lifetime so far. We did 8 states, approximately 3000 miles in just over 3 weeks, and I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I tried for about 2 hrs this AM to get ressies in MB for June, No luck. If you find a nice place, let me know. You would think that a guy who runs a camping website would have know to get ressies earlier.

We love Pirateland but it is full. We have stayed at Lakewood and it is our 2nd choice. They "said" they have plenty of sites, but I haven't reserved one yet. I have a feeling that more and more people will cancel because of gas. Most of the people around here have had Pirateland for 8-12 months...before gas prices went CRAZY!
I know a few that will cancel soon, it's just not the week I need!
I really like Pirateland best because of the pool area and the covered shelters but I'll stay anywhere to be at the beach! Lakewood is a very family oriented campground and you can even have campfires there!

Our fav is the Trav-l-park, we love the lazy rivers and pools as well as the AMAZING bath houses, plus my family went there alot when I was a kid. But the said full for all 3 months....

Not quite, almost, it is right behind the wal-mart, just before barefoot landing. It is really nice and clean, and lots to do. We stayed at pirate land when I was a kid, it was run down and dirty, has it changed? Their website looks really nice.
