Hi all! We just got home from a quick 3 nighter at The Fort. Our son was out of school for fall break, I kept checking for cancellations and finally got 3 nights for this past weekend! (I had to book 5 nights and when I called to cancel the extra 2, 10 days before our trip, the nice cast member told me that she would do it this time, but for future reference, the "new policy" will not allow this anymore, guess it's to keep us locals from booking last minute weekend trips:smooth:.)

We checked in Thursday morning...I was actually surprised that there were quite a few empty spots...we had our pick of about 5 of them in the 800 loop. We got set up, went looping on our bikes, and fired up the grill. There were about 10 empty sites in the 700 loop and a few in 600 also. I was surprised at the number of tent campers in the 800 loop this time, about 5 sites were tents.

Friday we spent the day at the pool and following the railroad tracks (or the "ghost train" tracks as my kids call them). Chip and Dale campfire and movie that night, then we rode our bikes around loops 100-1,000 looking at all the Halloween decorations...soooo awesome!

More biking and pony rides Saturday. My son, 8, was very upset that he is now too tall for the ponies, even though he is 48 lbs he is 50" so no more pony rides for him. My daughter, 2, however LOVED it! (FYI...they are now $8 for a pony ride...I had a $5 in my pocket, that doesn't cut it anymore...magic band to the rescue!) Before we left to go back to the site to fire up the charcoal we grabbed a loaf of corn bread and some mac n cheese to go with our supper...yummy!

It was a nice little trip and great weather. The only downside was the neighbor that pulled in next to us Friday. Nice folks, but they put a tent up out in the pet walk area about 30-40 feet off there site (directly behind our site). Well...they were playing the radio in the tent until 5am. We have a hybrid so the canvas did not block the noise unfortunatley, not much fun for my daughter and I who were in the back bed. So, the next morning I did something that I have never done at Disney in all my years, I went to the front desk to complain:scared:. The nice man told me he would "take care of it right away, they are not allowed to have a tent there." I said thank you and was happy that they were so nice about it. Well....the tent was still there when we left Sunday afternoon. Oh well, I tried. My husband said I need to work as the "Fort police" because I am always saying "look at that...they are breaking the rules." But, I've been around Disney long enough to know that they are not always enforced.

Anyway...enough venting...the Fort is still the best! There is nothing like sitting in a rocking chair on the porch at Crockett's Tavern watching the kids on the playground.

I am going to try to post some pics, but they are saying the file is too big, so need to figure that one out:)

Nice little weekend. Sorry about the tent/radio. From the pic, it looks pretty conspicuous. I'm surprised the Fort Police didn't do something about that without the notice.

And I love the Mickey hop scotch.

Stacey, can I make a special request for a supersized version of the picture with the new campfire benches? My eyes are old and tired.

Oh, and what's this about changes to the policy about dropping unneeded days from a reservation? Is there a new policy change that they let you slide on?

Looks like it was a happy fambly weekend.

PS - oh, there was something on your tank top there in another picture that you probably want to try to wash out. Keep trying till it fades....:rolleyes1

Ha ha. I didn't even notice... I started to say when you have a 'real' football team, and then I remembered we have the Rams. :worship:

Great pictures...cute kids! That tent was definitely conspicuously "out of bounds" IMO. Glad you had a fun weekend...(l enjoy my summer weekend camping up here, but still wishes could hop to the Fort like that.

Looks like an awesome weekend! Was it crowded at the pony rides? Or pretty much walk on?

Thanks for sharing and a big thank you on the heads up about the change in price for the pony rides! My 2 year old LOVES horses and we plan to stop by and do this. I'm wondering if my older DD will be allowed, she is exactly at 48 inches, but it won't be a big deal if she doesn't get to, she'll understand.

Hi Ed! Here is a larger pic of the benches...

The cast member I talked to when I called to drop the extra days told me that the "new policy" is that you have to book only the dates that come up as available, she said we will not be able to drop extra days anymore once the "new system is fully in place, but I will do it this time since you have been here before." It sounds to me like they are trying to get people to stay longer than 2-3 nights. I tried asking her questions, but she was not very informative on what exactly the new policy is.

Now about my tank top...it is probably a very good thing that the Fort does not get SEC network because no one would have wanted to hear me Saturday afternoon with how that quadruple overtime ended. But, I'm an Auburn girl win or lose:)

The pony rides were actually busy this time. Every other time we have gone we have either walked right up or only waited a minute or two. This time we waited about 20 minutes, there were 8 kids in line in front of us when we got there. We usually go right when they open at 10:00 or mid afternoon, this time we got there about noon so it might have been busier just because it was lunch time and the settlement was busy.

Staceyrhood,
thanks for the posts and especially the pics. I really love pics...well, except maybe that shirt, but since you did a good job with the pics I'll leave it alone.

Hmmm, about this new booking policy. I wonder how this is going to play out in the end and affect people's booking strategies.

Again, thank you for the pics. I hate it about that tent. They are actually very loose with the rules. I saw kids all over the place the 9 days I was there on skateboards, and nobody said a thing. A group of kids were using the sidewalk from the Meadows down to the entrance of 900 loop for a racetrack. Again, nothing said.

WHAT!?!? No SEC Network?? We hoped to watch Carolina over Florida on Nov 14, (could be Florida over Carolina), but still!!!
Looks like we will have to spend the entire day at the parks :charac2:

Only a day at Disney could keep us from our SEC football.

I watched 2 games this month in an Ohio state park (one game being Arky-Bama) using the WatchESPN website streamed over 2 bars of a 4G LTE signal onto a 17" Dell laptop. It was pretty smooth - that was my first attempt at the ESPN app and I was impressed with the quality. The games came out to be about 2.5gb per game so watch your data plan usage. Of course, with that high speed, screaming fast cable modem checked out from the Meadow Trading Post, you could do the Watch ESPN method over the wired network and it will probably be blazing fast. (lol)

Many local cable providers have the relationship with WatchESPN (I use my email id and password to log into it) so there may be a way to watch the game. Unfortunately it will be mostly likely Florida over SCar.

But hey, you're at Disney!

We are coming to the fort tomorrow for 4 nights and when I called about 2 months ago to drop a few days that I had booked the cast member talked to a supervisor but they never told me anything about a new policy.

Thanks Ryan

Thanks for sharing on your trip and all the pics!

If that were me, I would not have been so nice. I probably would have marched over to their ten prior to the music and requested them to move from your "personal space". If it was directly behind your site then that most certainly is to close for comfort.

I would have also called Disney to inform them of their set up. Then probably moved it if they didn't! Then probably done something best left out had they kept it there and played music. THE NERVE! This has me all hot and bothered just thinking about it.

My complain list record is probably a mile long and my Disney folder 3 inches thick.
