Hi all! We just got home from a quick 3 nighter at The Fort. Our son was out of school for fall break, I kept checking for cancellations and finally got 3 nights for this past weekend! (I had to book 5 nights and when I called to cancel the extra 2, 10 days before our trip, the nice cast member told me that she would do it this time, but for future reference, the "new policy" will not allow this anymore, guess it's to keep us locals from booking last minute weekend trips
.)
We checked in Thursday morning...I was actually surprised that there were quite a few empty spots...we had our pick of about 5 of them in the 800 loop. We got set up, went looping on our bikes, and fired up the grill. There were about 10 empty sites in the 700 loop and a few in 600 also. I was surprised at the number of tent campers in the 800 loop this time, about 5 sites were tents.
Friday we spent the day at the pool and following the railroad tracks (or the "ghost train" tracks as my kids call them). Chip and Dale campfire and movie that night, then we rode our bikes around loops 100-1,000 looking at all the Halloween decorations...soooo awesome!
More biking and pony rides Saturday. My son, 8, was very upset that he is now too tall for the ponies, even though he is 48 lbs he is 50" so no more pony rides for him. My daughter, 2, however LOVED it! (FYI...they are now $8 for a pony ride...I had a $5 in my pocket, that doesn't cut it anymore...magic band to the rescue!) Before we left to go back to the site to fire up the charcoal we grabbed a loaf of corn bread and some mac n cheese to go with our supper...yummy!
It was a nice little trip and great weather. The only downside was the neighbor that pulled in next to us Friday. Nice folks, but they put a tent up out in the pet walk area about 30-40 feet off there site (directly behind our site). Well...they were playing the radio in the tent until 5am. We have a hybrid so the canvas did not block the noise unfortunatley, not much fun for my daughter and I who were in the back bed. So, the next morning I did something that I have never done at Disney in all my years, I went to the front desk to complain
. The nice man told me he would "take care of it right away, they are not allowed to have a tent there." I said thank you and was happy that they were so nice about it. Well....the tent was still there when we left Sunday afternoon. Oh well, I tried. My husband said I need to work as the "Fort police" because I am always saying "look at that...they are breaking the rules." But, I've been around Disney long enough to know that they are not always enforced.
Anyway...enough venting...the Fort is still the best! There is nothing like sitting in a rocking chair on the porch at Crockett's Tavern watching the kids on the playground.
I am going to try to post some pics, but they are saying the file is too big, so need to figure that one out
