I know that many DVCers move to other accomodations on the weekends. I have rented a studio reservation at HHI for July 1-6 and am staying two more nights (Friday and Saturday) to round out the week. I had both those nights on the DVC member discount. This morning I endeavored to find less expensive digs for those two nights as the total for staying at Disney HHI for those two nights was rounding out to 540 approx.
For a studio! I guess I am just cheap but that was a bit much for me to swallow.
Well, someone on the Tug board (pm me for the website) suggested trying to get those two nights using priceline. I wanted a top quality resort, and it is only 11 days away from the beginning of my trip and 17 days away from the date in which I would be checking into this weekend reservation.
I searched only resorts, and I tried 100 per night, no dice...
I tried 110, no help...
I tried 125 per night, success!! I got the Hilton Head beach and tennis resort. What is that? I went to the website provided by priceline and it is the Marriott! The regular price for this room through expedia is 299 per night!
It is an oceanfront resort and next to both the george and tom fazio golf courses.
This is my first successful bidding with priceline and if the room is okay, I will be pleased. I saved about 250 over what I would have paid with disney to stay in the studio that I have rented and so I am sure it will be worth it.
The reviews for this resort have been spotty and so I have my fingers crossed that we will get a decent room. I have confirmed by reservation with the hotel and have my fingers crossed. After all, it is non-refundable.
Just wanted to share my bidding experience with all my dvc friends.
