I know that many DVCers move to other accomodations on the weekends. I have rented a studio reservation at HHI for July 1-6 and am staying two more nights (Friday and Saturday) to round out the week. I had both those nights on the DVC member discount. This morning I endeavored to find less expensive digs for those two nights as the total for staying at Disney HHI for those two nights was rounding out to 540 approx. :scared1: For a studio! I guess I am just cheap but that was a bit much for me to swallow.

Well, someone on the Tug board (pm me for the website) suggested trying to get those two nights using priceline. I wanted a top quality resort, and it is only 11 days away from the beginning of my trip and 17 days away from the date in which I would be checking into this weekend reservation.

I searched only resorts, and I tried 100 per night, no dice...

I tried 110, no help...

I tried 125 per night, success!! I got the Hilton Head beach and tennis resort. What is that? I went to the website provided by priceline and it is the Marriott! The regular price for this room through expedia is 299 per night!:scared1:

It is an oceanfront resort and next to both the george and tom fazio golf courses.

This is my first successful bidding with priceline and if the room is okay, I will be pleased. I saved about 250 over what I would have paid with disney to stay in the studio that I have rented and so I am sure it will be worth it.

The reviews for this resort have been spotty and so I have my fingers crossed that we will get a decent room. I have confirmed by reservation with the hotel and have my fingers crossed. After all, it is non-refundable.

Just wanted to share my bidding experience with all my dvc friends.

Hey Tammy, I used priceline to book a hotel room in Washington DC last year(went to see the Royal Ballet at Kennedy Center). Paid $90 a night for the Hyatt at Metro Center that goes for $300.

Would use again for hotels, but I would skip the airfare.

Not only that, but the Marriott is only 1 condo building away from the DVC-HH beach house.

Hopefully Dean will come by but I am pretty sure the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis is not Marriott??

Marriott shows the following at Hilton Head.

Heritage Club and Harbour Town
Barony Beach
Grand Ocean
Monarch at Sea Pines
Harbour Point and Sunset Point
Surf Watch

This is the website I have for the hotel you listed.

I am sure it will be OK, but make sure you know WHERE you are going!

Go to the bidding for travel website and they should be able to show you what the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis resort is. This website is a wonderful resource of information on how and what to bid on Priceline, as well as potentially what hotels you could get for certain areas. That being said, we used Priceline for an early June of 2005 stay and "won" the Marriott. It has a beautiful location - right on the ocean. The grounds are very nice . . . BUT they truly do give the Priceline people the less than stellar rooms (at least in our case.) I wasn't disappointed with the hotel for the price ($150. less a night than their website), but after that, I decided to no longer priceline for hotels - in certain locales.

Oh, I just remembered it was only for 2 nights before you move over to Disney - no problem - if it's really the Marriott. :thumbsup2

Edited to Add: bidding for travel is showing Marriott as the Marriott Beach and Golf Club.

Hope my post wasn't a downer. I think you got a great deal and did a wise thing. Please let us know when you get back what you thought . . .

Hi, I took another look and the HH beach and tennis resort has an address of 40 Folly field road and the hotel I booked is at one hotel circle. I looked it up on the marriott website and confirmed my reservation at the hotel.

It said "hilton head beach and golf resort" not "hilton head beach and tennis resort" as I put in my original post. My bad! I am sure that it is the Marriott. But when I first got the reservation it didn't say Marriott, so I didn't know what I got, till my went to the website they provided and confirmed that it was indeed the Marriott.

I am sure that either way I would be pleased, aren't they close to one another?

You are on Hilton Head Island... you must be close... I am sure you will be pleased... Have a great time :thumbsup2

We just got back and although the Marriott is nice and is right on the ocean, I LOVED the HHI resort through DVC. I think this will be a repeat trip for our family for sure.

We love priceline and travelzoo - I got spoiled on 4 and 5 star hotels really fast via. priceline.

Here's another fabulous HHI deal from travelzoo, it was almost good enough for me to want to book a weekend getaway:

The travelzoo top 20 is really worth subscribing to.

Enjoy your pricelined resort!!!!!!

Congrats. Priceline has usually worked very well for us. Most negative reviews on sites like tripadvisor should be taken with a grain of salt.
