Weekend or Weekday in the summer?

Hi all - I'm putting together a trip to SoCal for the first week of August. We'd like to do three days at DR, but can position those days anywhere during the week - weekdays, weekends, or a combination.

I know the shows and fireworks tend to run every day of the week in August. So, my question is, are crowds generally lighter on weekends or weekdays in the summer?

Originally I assumed that weekends would always be more crowded. But then I noticed that in the summer, the non-soCal APs are blacked out on the weekends but not the weekdays. Does that throw everything off? Or is it only those pesky soCal APs that really affect the crowds?

We went end of July into the first part of August. Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday were awesome days to be in the parks. The key in going during the busy times is to get there at opening & start gathering those FP's to use later in the day when it gets busy!!! The entertainment during the summer will be in full swing.....so if you can go during the week....then do so......avoid the weekends!

We always do August and weekdays, no more weekend. More of the locals are out and about if not blocked out. More managable during the weekdays.
