Week before Thanksgiving or week after?

I can tell you that we were originally going to go for (meaning the week of) Thanksgiving since we have never been this time of year but after reading so many threads on the crowds, we decided to change it to the week after. We arrive the Friday after Thanksgiving and stay until December 5 :) I heard there is a significant difference in the crowds. Happy planning :)

We went to Disney 11/16/02 - 11/23/02, which was the Sat-Sat BEFORE Thanksgiving. As far as crowds go, the parks were very light with literally no crowds by Disney standards. I think the longest wait time I saw was maybe 30 mins (ie, test track), but that wait was avoided by using fastpass. Weather was a little on the cooler side (mid 70's to low 80's), but that was to be expected. I must say though, from what I've read and heard, is that crowd levels increase from Thanksgiving week through the Christmas holiday. Therefore, if I had to choose I would choose the week before Thanksgiving.

PS - During our stay we even started to see Christmas decorations going up all over the resorts and parks !

After. Crowds are light and the Christmas decorations are up :) What you have read and heard is, I believe, incorrect. The first two weeks of December are historically two of the slowest of the year.

Blessings.

Week after for low crowds - weather is always iffy - could be hot could be cold could be just right could rain could but maybe not ALL IN THE SAME DAY!:D

But going into our 4th year of the 1st week of December annual trip to WDW - Best time of year to go - all the Holiday extras decorations MVMCP! Love this time of year!

We have been both, right before Thanksgiving week and the week right after..We prefer after because the decorations are up and all and the crowds are even a bit lower than in November.

Many years we have worn shorts and hardly worn jackets even at night in December..my favorite time of year to go..but I will go anytime I can get a chance....:sunny:

Alright..fair enough I guess I'll just have to book a DW vacation in December to really see which time has lower crowds. ::yes::

AFTER definitely.

You'll be amazed at how fast you get through the attractions--you'll never want to go during a busy time again!

One year hubby and I did all the major MK rides in like maybe 1-2 hours--that was all 3 mountains and travel time to each ride plus some minor stuff along the way.
