Week before Memorial Day

Can someone tell me what the attendance is like during the week up to and including Memorial Day? WE are planning to go 5/18-5/27 and have never been there during that time.

Also, do they have anything special that goes on for Memorial Day weekend?

Curious as well. We will be there 5/16-26. I expect the parks will be crowded on the holiday weekend so plan on hitting them early and then retreating to the resort pool in the afternoon.

I believe I can help the both of you out a bit. I was in the "world" last May the week before Memorial Day specifically the 20-26. The beginning of the week was great. Pleasant weather and no rain. The crowds were very light and manageable. Then on Friday running into Memorial Day the place became a mad house. We chose to visit the Magic Kingdom on that Friday and I think everyone coming down for the weekend had the same idea. That Saturday was pretty manageable at the Animal Kingdom though. This year I have opted to leave a weekend early and leave out on the Friday when the crowds arrive. I really enjoy this time of year and look forward to some nice weather. Also then only thing I know that will be going on is the Star Wars weekends. They will be held every weekend mid May through June. I don't think this will have an effect on the crowds. MGM is the host for this event. Hope this helps!!!

Not to mention they released two MYSTERY pins the week before Memorial Day last year! (weep)
We were at WDW the week of Memorial Day. And if I was planning again, I would want the week before too.
Fllower & Garden festival was winding down too. Still very nice. But had that *at the end* feel to it.
That's one thing you might to look into if you can. See who is on the Flower Power schedule, if that means anything to you at all.

We're going the week b/f Memorial Day, too. We have done that for two or three years now and generally had good experiences. Crowds really p/u on Friday b/f Mem. Day so we normally leave then.

DW, DS and I are going 5/10-5/16 at OKW, hope the crowds stay low and the weather holds.

Thanks for the helpful responses!! As we will arrive the weekend prio sounds like we should have a good head start on the crowds. We typically avoid high crowd times, but coudn't resist staying through the holiday weekend to give us a full 10 nights!
