Week Before Labor Day

From what I've been reading online, yes. The first half of that week should be 'quieter' and as people arrive in town for the Marathon the crowds start to pick up on Thursday (which would be Sept 1st this year).

Thanks. Good guide for next summer (assuming the marathon is similar time). Enjoy your trip.

Yes we have been to DW that week and we are going for that week again this year. By far the parks are less crowded than at any other time of year we have gone. After all, even people who don't think twice about kids missing school won't plan for their kids to miss the first week of school.

As a new resident of Canada, I do have to chuckle a bit at the "melt your face off heat" comments. I suppose in another few years I'll have adjusted to the climate up here and then perhaps we'll feel differently, but for us as long as we dress appropriately and stay inside for mid-day the heat really isn't so bad.

Have heard WDW is great that week, and for cost too (cheaper hotels, usually free dining). Very true...I personally hate our winters here and love the heat. But my DH hates it, so don't think I'd ever convince him to return to WDW in the summer.

This will be our 3rd trip to DisneyWorld the week before labour day (Aug 27-Sept 03 this year).

We never find the heat unbearable, there are a lot of air conditioned areas and we wonder to them when we start to warm up. Plus the rain showers that occur each day, lol we use them as a built in splash pad. Cool off/play in the rain than dry within what seems like minutes and continue on.

Crowds have not been an issue either, I do use fastpass for major rides. Our last trip though even without them the only ride that had over 30min while we were there was the Seven Dwarfs mine train and that was because it had just opened. Oh and I guess if we had wanted to see Anna and Elsa. Many times we passed a ride, kids wanted to try it so we walked on within 10min.

Except me. I love booking my trip after Labour Day. My sister doesn't mind my nieces missing the first week or two of school since they don't really do much. In elementary school they don't even know who their teacher is going to be for the first two weeks. Not at all like it was when we were little.

Going again this year and doing US/IoA and Sea World. I do think a lot of people don't travel at that time. For some reason I have not found DL to follow the low crowds like WDW.

Wow - that is not at all what it is like here. We know classroom assignments well before school starts and they jump right in. Which is actually just like it was when I was in grade school many years ago (in the US). The school year ended at the very end of June and we never started up again until after Labor Day. Now it seems many US schools end much earlier in June and they quite often start before Labor Day.

Not sure if it's just this area or the particular school but it is very strange for us. We would look forward to the last week of summer so we could see the class lists posted on the school door.

I will have to ask a friend who I know her son goes to a different school and see if it's a similar situation as my niece's school. The oldest is now in middle school so she can't miss any school. Plan on doing the same trip next year only two weeks earlier so I can take her.

That's our fav time to go to Wdw. We always go the last 2 weeks before Labour Day. Low crowds. I work in a school. Sadly this year I have to be back to start the week before Labour Day so had to push up vacay by a week.
Another good time for low crowds is late January. Avoid US holiday MLK day.

We survive in August by getting to the parks early and leave by lunch for swim break. Then return to park after dinner.

DL crowds are very different, as it is more of a local park so I think they are generally more crowded.
