Week before Easter?

Has anyone been the week before Easter? I'm thinking of planning a trip to DL for my DB's 16th birthday. It would be April 7-11th, Easter is April 12th. I know it will be busy as some schools will be on Spring Break but is it crazy to want to go then? Am I looking at 90 minute waits?

Yes, DLR will most likely be incredibly busy that week.

Both the week before and the week after Easter are blockout dates for So. Calif. Annual Passholders -- which is usually a good indicator that the Park expects huge crowds.

I avoid the week before and after like the plague. We went for our daughters' spring breaks for four straight years and finally gave up last year. We just can't handle the crowds. Yes, the major rides will have 60-90 minute waits but FPs will be helpful.

The week before and the week after Easter are commonly considered to be one of the very busiest times of the year in the parks.

We went the week after Easter last spring, and there were record crowds. You could hardly move around by midafternoon. The big FP rides (Indy, Space, Splash) commonly had 75 minute waits.

That said, if you follow Hydroguy's tips and get there first thing in the morning, go with a plan, and collect FPs, you can get around ok and still do lots of stuff.

But there were times when we stood in line for 15 minutes just to get a FP for later! I found the crowds suffocating.

Thanks for your help and opinions. I'm still going to debate it with myself. I really wanted to take him on his birthday (not for the free ticket,we'll have 4 day ph's) because in addition to DL I wanted to take him to see his team play the Angels.

Most likely I'll go then but when I'm waiting in crazy lines I think back to this thread and wonder...why didn't I listen?
