How are the crowds the week leading right up to Christmas and what kind of temperature/weather should we expect.

We're used to going July4th week, and just need a little advise for December.

Thanks,
kim

Subscribing... we'll be there Dec 17-22. It's been a long while since we've been in Dec.

The crowds will get bigger each day of the week the closer you get to Christmas.

Orlando winter weather is completely unpredictable. You could have warm days with cool mornings, or you could have mornings near freezing with afternoons in the 50s. And you could have both of those scenarios in the four or five days you are there.

We've been to MVMCP a few times. We go the 2nd week of December because it's the last week of value season and the POP Warner kids are gone. The weather has always been great....mid 80's for the high temperature and upper 60's/lower 70's for lows. Last year was the only exception with highs in the 70's and low's in the upper 50's/lower 60's. We'll be going back 12/10 through 12/16 so hope it's as nice as it's previously been. :wizard:

How about the crowds?

The crowds begin to pick-up about the 10th of December, and yeah the week before Christmas is going to be very busy.

Weather is a crap shoot. BUT, usually..., it doesn't get cold until Jan or early Feb, if at all. Last year I washed the cars on Xmas eve. Long pants and a light jacket or sweater at night would be advisable, but you can get away with shorts and T's in the daytime if you're from a cold climate. If it gets cold, buy a sweatshirt!

I've always thought the second week in Dec is very rainy, or at least it is everytime my buddy and his wife come in from southern CA then (heehee...).

We live about 12 miles from MK, but we still look forward to our week at the Beach Club DVC every Dec. The family all gets together and I really look forward to our Xmas week.

But if you've never been to WDW during the Christmas season, it's worth whatever it takes. Be sure to do the Candlelight Processional package with dinner at your favorite place (early ressies need to be made!). We've attended the CLP for many years and it's nice just to remember the true meaning of Christmas (if you are emotional, tissues in pocket are recommended)! Make the rounds of ALL the hotels to see the decorations. Make sure you see the singers at the American Pavilion, several short shows daily, and be sure to sit inside the columns, on the floor! Search the radio on your rental car for the FM ALL CHRISTMAS MUSIC Station!

Before we moved to FL permanently, we'd always do a lot of Christmas shopping for the family on our annual trek. We'd take an empty suitcase going down- no guarantee shipping from the park would make it during the holiday rush. And you can always find something unique at the Christmas shop at DTD during the season.

Everybody should go to the MVMCP at MK at least once, even if you are not interested. Wife drags me every year; I complain about the cost and being charged extra for parking, but I secretly have a good time. And I wouldn't want her to miss it. She's always loved Christmas at Disney, and I know you will too!

We'll be at Pop Dec 15-22 and really looking forward to it!

Allyson :)

Last year my family flew to WDW on 12/17 and flew home 12/27.

It was great. I loved the Candlelight Processional, and the decorations at the resorts and the EPCOT tree lighting and more.

We found the parks to be reasonable from the 18th - 23rd. For us, the strategy we used was to be at the parks at opening, use FP wisely, and we followed Tour Guide Mikes ideas for which parks to go to which days (we didn't follow his strategies within each day as well, but it worked out fine.......we had definite ideas about what we wanted to see and do, from previous trips.......like ride Rockin Rollercoaster 6 times one day!)

The crowds really picked up the 24th, and we sneaked into the Magic Kingdom on the 25th (after dinner) just to see the parade, and it was a nightmare.

For the 26th, we were at the park at opening, and it was extremely crowded by noon and we left,

The week before Xmas is much better than the week after!
