The crowds begin to pick-up about the 10th of December, and yeah the week before Christmas is going to be very busy.
Weather is a crap shoot. BUT,
usually..., it doesn't get cold until Jan or early Feb, if at all. Last year I washed the cars on Xmas eve. Long pants and a light jacket or sweater at night would be advisable, but you can get away with shorts and T's in the daytime if you're from a cold climate. If it gets cold, buy a sweatshirt!
I've always thought the second week in Dec is very rainy, or at least it is everytime my buddy and his wife come in from southern CA then (heehee...).
We live about 12 miles from MK, but we still look forward to our week at the Beach Club DVC every Dec. The family all gets together and I really look forward to our Xmas week.
But if you've never been to WDW during the Christmas season, it's worth whatever it takes. Be sure to do the Candlelight Processional package with dinner at your favorite place (early ressies need to be made!). We've attended the CLP for many years and it's nice just to remember the true meaning of Christmas (if you are emotional, tissues in pocket are recommended)! Make the rounds of ALL the hotels to see the decorations. Make sure you see the singers at the American Pavilion, several short shows daily, and be sure to sit inside the columns, on the floor! Search the radio on your rental car for the FM ALL CHRISTMAS MUSIC Station!
Before we moved to FL permanently, we'd always do a lot of Christmas shopping for the family on our annual trek. We'd take an empty suitcase going down- no guarantee shipping from the park would make it during the holiday rush. And you can always find something unique at the Christmas shop at DTD during the season.
Everybody should go to the
MVMCP at MK at least once, even if you are not interested. Wife drags me every year; I complain about the cost and being charged extra for parking, but I secretly have a good time. And I wouldn't want her to miss it. She's always loved Christmas at Disney, and I know you will too!
