Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

Y'all, I have been in denial over this, but I have to face the facts. We are leaving next Thursday, and my toe still hurts. I ingured it 10/24. It's way better than it was, and if I just sit there it doesn't usually hurt. However, it's still swollen and I can't bend it, and I hobble around. After walking around Target, it is throbbing. I have to come to terms with the fact that it won't be okay come disney. I honestly thought it would be fine by now. I just found out that my doc dropped me because I hadn't been in 3 years (pregnancies and not getting ill) so I have to get in for a new patient appointment first, so I guess I'll go to the urgent care type place and see if I can get a boot or something. Anyone ever have to deal with something like this at disney? Advice?
Think about getting an ECV while you are at the parks.

Which toe is it? Big toe? There's not a ton you can do for toes unless it is seriously displaced. I would still go to an urgent care to get an x ray. If it's like a turf toe injury there's steel inserts you can put in your shoes (amazon) to keep you from bending your toe joint. Feel free to message me and I'll send you the link for the insert. You can also try the buddy tape method to tape it to toe next to it to stabilize it..
I was walking and tripped
over my foot, my big toe went all the way under my foot, and I stepped with all my weight on it. I can't touch it. I will look at those inserts, thanks!

I'm sorry to hear about your toe! I hope the urgent care can help. I have a kind of similar problem. I was wearing in new tennis shoes and they began to hurt the arch of my right foot. I wore them longer than I should before I decided to abandon them. Now my right foot still hurts! I know it's too late to do anything now so I just have to push through it. It's not unbearable pain. Once I get going, I don't notice it. But when I stop and start again it's a reminder for sure.

It's so hard for foot issues to heal since you can't really avoid using them.
That's so true. Disney is always tough on my feet even when I'm okay. I hope your feet feel better!

When I first started reading I thought you were going to say you aren't able to go to Disney! I am so glad that isnt it but it sucks that you're dealing with a broken toe. When I broke my toe I had a boot because I broke it right in half. It took longer to get around but it wasn't too bad. Do you have a freezer in your room to take ice packs? Just plan on resting more but it will be disney and even resting can be enjoyable!
Oh man, not going at this point would be horrible! We have a villa, so I will definitely bring an ice pack. That's a great idea!

Back in 2014 my dad shattered some bones in his foot right before a Disney trip and had to be in a wheelchair the entire trip. I'd recommend renting a chair from an off-site property, because the day they did Magic Kingdom, all the ECVs were rented and dad had to use a standard wheelchair, and my mom and friend didn't like pushing him around all day. If you rent off-property you can get an ECV for the duration of your stay, I believe. Hope your toe feels better soon!!!
Thanks everyone! I am the type to be like "I'm fine", until I definitely am not. Tomorrow, I will go to urgent care and look into a boot or those inserts. I'll also look at ECVS, and have the info ready to go. If I just can't walk, I can always get one when I am down there. I am just mad at myself, it was so stupid and clumsy. I do need to contact OKW, because I know many of their building have no elevators, and I originally asked for third floor.
Oh well, it will be fabulous regardless. Time to get excited for the trip!!!

You have such a great attitude!! I hope you luck out and it heals up nicely for you. Either way you're right, it's Disney so it can't be bad!

I am doing an ADR clean up. I grabbed a lot of BOG ADRs until I could make something work. Time to let them go to new homes!

Oh no :( did you go in?? any update??

My best advice is REST, ice it, elevate it, and try "buddy taping" it to the next toe to help stabilize. And good socks and shoes.

Barring that, if you're still hobbling I think I'd try out a knee scooter for Disney. Enough to stay off the hurt foot, but smaller and easier to maneuver. and you don't have to use your arms to push yourself, rely on someone else to push you, or be confined to an ECV if you dont want to go that route...

I got clearance from my doctor on Thursday to stop my blood thinners...it was an AWFUL 3 months on those meds. Ugh. Crazy fatigue, dizziness, and let's just say my monthly "friend" was 10x worse. I was so glad to be done before the trip, and hoping to get some energy back before we leave. Yay!!

However now I am an anxious mess worrying about more clots. I know realistically my risk is fairly minimal now that I'm off the birth control that caused it. But in my head I'm panicking. I had a dream last night that I collapsed at the MK and had to be rushed to the hospital with lungs full of clots from the plane ride :( I've never been an anxious person, this is driving me crazy!! I need to channel this nervous energy into cleaning and packing...
