We drove last year. The worst part was the hotel stops along the way. Everyone is hoping to avoid driving, but I think there are a few things we could do to make it better.
I downloaded the Hopper app but I see they don't have Delta (nor SW, but I knew that) right now so it's kind of worthless, but I'll keep it for now and see what happens. I have a flight tracker in my spreadsheet as well and I'm tracking flight prices from 3 airports so I can see how frequently the prices change and where they bottom out. If there's a sudden price drop, I'll be well-poised to grab it!
I also have H&V on 11/29 at 430 pm! And planning MK on 11/30, BOG at 430 that night.Plans are shaping up...
11/27-- Drive from Tampa from visiting family to arrive for 3p checkin. Nap for LO. Dinner at California Grill for 9p to catch the fireworks from the party. hopefully LO will handle alright. I keep telling myself its 8 back home
11/28-- MK, Lunch at Jungle Canteen, Fantasy Parade so LO can see her beloved Dragon, Nap, MK, Dinner at The Wave
11/29-- HS, early dinner 320 for Minnie's Dine + F!, nap, F!
11/30-- MK, CRT lunch, nap, MK (would love BoG for dinner)
12/1-- Epcot, hopefully get early dinner for the 630 Candlelight
12/2--??AK vs MK, no ADR, ?Christmas Party
12/3--?Epcot we need to be back at BC for Magic Express by 3 or just sleep in after party and eat brunch at Trattoria al Forno. Leaning on latter. TaF is amazing for breakfast if you haven't tried it yet!!
I just remembered that I actually paid for the tickets because we otherwise would have had basic economy - which I would have been ok with if it was just me, but with DD, we need to make sure we can sit together. I think we paid just over $400/ticket. I used my FlexPerks rewards to get some cash back to offset that. I was assuming so close to Thanksgiving (we fly out on 11/26), they would get expensive. Guess I was right!!Yep 2:20 - we're flying down on Sunday and flying home on Saturday - luckily, my FLEX account (NorthWest which merged with Delta WAY back when) had enough miles for 1st class...we're old ladies now and have a hard time in those tiny main cabin seats! When we booked, it was 40,000 miles each and over $800 if paying cash - now it's 50,000 and over $900 for the same tickets. I figured that if we had converted those 40,000 miles to a cash back type of reward, it would be $400....so in essence, we got 1st class round trip for about $400 each...which is less that the "basic economy" is now!
You are lucky you got seats on that 2:20 flight...there aren't many left!! Will be interesting so see just WHO is flying home with us! I keep checking just to see how high the price goes!
H&V was so much fun last year. You will enjoy it!! Still keeping hopes up about BoG though!! I've been trying to see if Beast comes out at the Christmas party since we will probably go this year.
Is anyone here hoping for a RO discount after Thanksgiving? I was looking back and it appears those typically come out near the end of July, so I guess I have something new to wait for (assuming we fly down on Saturday).
Ok so I am feeling really dumb but I have tried several times and I can't figure out how to sign up with out needing a credit card. Help?!
Other reports are indicating that it is a glitch, so I would wait to hear more on this one.
Touring Plans itself is not free. I think I paid $10.95 for a 1 year subscription last October. The reservation finder within touring plans is free. They have an app that also shows real time waits for the rides and if you did touring plan ahead of time it is loaded onto your app. When you are in the park you can just follow the plans. I ended up not utilizing it very much bc my husband is anti tech and bothered him how much families were on their phones not enjoying their families. Never a truer statement but I had looked at my plans enough ahead of time that I pretty much had them memorized. lol. That being said if the reservation finder comes through it will be will worth the money I spent last year!!
