Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

There's a current trip report going on where they went mini golfing on Black Friday, I think

ooooh, which one?

I mean, those vouchers are a $40 value for my family. It's definitely worth a shot and my kids/hubby would like that more than shopping in an overcrowded disney springs haha

Ariane37-Giving Thanksgiving a Whirl

Haha yeah good call!

Consulted with DH last night. Finally informed him I bought our airfare and that we will be there an extra night. He is requesting HS for that Saturday. I am thinking of trying to get H&V Play n Dine ressie for breakfast/lunch. We did that last year and all the Disney Junior characters were a hit. Felt bad about not doing it this year but wanted to use my FD for new experiences. Anyway then we can just use our 3 fast passes and leave. Go back to room for a break and then head to DS that night, eat at Trex OOP.

Actually now I am just rethinking our whole itinerary. Haha! I guess I have one week to decide!

Yeah us too - I know for sure we will do MK on party days since we don't stay too lat anyway with the 2yo. But beyond that I keep changing things. Add a park day, nah lets go golfing. No, HS for the morning then swim in the afternoon. But what if the Star Wars fireworks are only certain nights?

Rinse, repeat. I'll be that jerk hoarding adrs for 2 difference scenarios until hours are released :ssst:

Same here. I need to know when Star Wars fireworks will be. I will definitely be hoarding ADRs. Heck, I have two resorts currently booked, and can't decide which one I want!!

I blame Disney for this. If they could release hours and stick to them (including fireworks, Fantasmic!, parades, dessert parties, emh days, etc....) we wouldn't have to build in various contingencies. I don't mind when they extend hours (like park was going to close at 10, now it's closing at 11) but I hate it when they move emh or open an hour earlier than originally scheduled.

Well we can help each other out after ADR day and keep an eye out for whatever people are looking for! :)
Sounds like a lot of people are having success with the touringplans reservation finder. Hopefully I don't have to find out how that works, but I'm glad it's there if I need it!

I used it several times for our trip and a neighbors trip. Getting that text was such a rush haha! Who needs drugs :P

I know what you mean! I don't have plans to book any of the most popular ADR's for our upcoming trip and that makes me sad because I won't get the rush of having "scored" the big ones! No PPO BOG or BOG dinners (no BOG at all, actually), no PPO Akershus, no PPO meals at all, no 'Ohana, no Chef Mickey's, etc... Kinda makes me think I can sleep in on our ADR day and just book everything when I get up. ;)

Question- You guys all feel pretty confident that ROL (not the JB show) will be up and running by our trip dates? I've assumed so but I don't have much experience with Disney postponing stuff.

Ah I might need help as we will be camping on ADR day. Yikes! I am afraid I will miss everything on my phone. What is everyone's plan for which parks on what day? I can't decide with 4 Christmas party days out of 6. Will every park have do not miss night time shows? Not sure my kids or I can handle all late nights either, they are early risers.

They are speculating it will, but I don't know. If the JB show is successful I can see Disney just waiting until next spring to roll out ROL.

My kids like fantasmic, but DH and I agreed we won't be doing it again this year. We never made it to illuminations, and my 6yo (at the time) didn't want to stop and watch Wishes either - he and I hopped to MK on a non party night specifically for it but he decided space mountain was more important haha.

One day I'll get to the nighttime shows. This year the only fireworks we are for sure attempting will be Star Wars.

I'm annoyed that I have a week to figure out my plans, based on Disney's nonexistent schedule, before I have to make my ADRs. I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for evening entertainment at AK. I'm going to make that my least priority. However, we really want to see the Start Wars fireworks at HS. Here's my tentative schedule:
Fri 11/25 - POR and maybe Disney Springs
Sat 11/26 CBR or Poly? (not knowing whether the monorail will be running on schedule or will still be under construction is making me nervous about shelling out an extra $300+ per night to stay at Poly) HS day (Minnie's H&V dinner)
Sun 11/27 - MK (Ohana dinner or Pirates & Pals cruise)
Mon 11/28 - EP or AK am / EP pm (thinking Chefs de France or Garden Grill dinner)
Tues - MK (Crystal Palace or maybe The Wave dinner)
Wed - AK or MK if we park hop on Mon.

Any advice?

Are you currently booked at CBR? I can't remember...I want to stay at the Poly someday, but I'm so cheap and we are still at the point we spend all day in the parks so spending all that money just to sleep and get ready isn't worth it for us. One day! I promised DH I wouldn't ask to go back for a few more years after doing 2 years in a row (ha!)

Is the monorail not running at all during construction? That makes the Poly FAR less desirable. Why stay so close if you still have to bus! That would make my decision for me :)

We haven't done most of your dinner choices, but we did love Ohana!

  • Monorail -The monorail is under refurbishment and may have modified service or routes. You should check on the day of travel the best option to use. Alternative transportation options may be available.
    • Express Beam Overnight Closures- 11:30 PM Sundays - 9:30 AM Mondays, 11:30 PM Mondays - 9:30 AM Tuesdays
    • Monorail Shutdown- 11:30 AM - 6:00 PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Starting 4/12/2016 on Thursdays
    • Resort Beam Overnight Closures - 12:00 AM - 8:30 AM Mondays, 12:00 AM - 8:30 AM Tuesdays

This is the current info I can find. Doesn't say how long it will be happening, so I don't even know if it will be an issue in November. But, if I want to go back to the room midday or make it to a PPO ADR, it's going to be very difficult on this schedule. And one of the main reasons for staying at the Poly would be the ease of hopping on the monorail.

I currently have both CBR and Poly booked. We stayed at CBR last year, and enjoyed it and spending time at the pool looks fun. I guess I have time to decide, but some of my plans would depend on the option of hopping on the monorail. Kind of frustrating.
