Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

I tried to do an ADR cancel transfer today and they didn't get it:(
How is it possible that in the 3 seconds they were looking for it someone else stole it??? I felt bad.

Did you pick up something that forced you to cancel or just cancel it? I've heard you should make the system force you to stop it and it will go directly back into the system. Otherwise, it might not be available immediately.

I just did this yesterday when transferring a CRT reservation. I picked up a Kona Cafe at the same time to have it tell me I had to cancel. After, I just dropped the kona.

Oh darn I wish I would have known that. I just cancelled it, didn't replace it. I also cancelled a coral reef and that one came up right away.
Thanks for letting me know. If I cancel another I will keep that in mind.

I think it was all on the other thread where I was talking about this, but we're looking at adding a 2nd MVMCP to our itinerary now. Of course, we haven't purchased any tickets to anything yet, but I digress...

Anyway, we're considering adding the 11/27 party. I know, I know... I already talked someone else out of it somewhere along the way because I'm pretty sure it'll be crazy crowded with Thanksgiving stragglers hanging on for one last hurrah before heading back to the "real world", but it's the night that would work the best for us. Anyone else going that night?
I had not thought about Sunday being left over crowds from Thanksgiving. Epcot/HS were definitely cleared out on Sunday last year. We are planning on the party 11/27 but haven't gotten my tickets yet... Procrastination. Tuesday we are planning on being at Epcot and can't change plans due to CP and FEA. We could always stay an extra night and go to the party on 12/1. I based going on 11/27 d/t Kenny the Pirate says Sundays are the best days to go to MVMCP. So many decisions.

I did a transfer a few weeks ago and it took 7 minutes after they cancelled for it to show up. I thought for sure it was stolen. I had nothing else to do so i kept refreshing and it finally popped up. A different transfer took about 3 min to show up in the system.

I'm really happy to hear that about Epcot/HS from last year! Last year was a busy year, for sure. We were there over Labor Day and the following week and many people were on the forums last September complaining about the crazy crowds all month. Then it stretched into October and November. 2016 doesn't seem to be trending the same way, thankfully for us!

I've only done a few transfers so far and been on both ends of it. All times the ADR was replaced and the transfer was successful. That and hearing others say that is all I am going on right now, but it sure doesn't hurt to try it that way. It did take a few minutes for me to find a replacement in my case because the CRT I was cancelling was 9:50pm so I had to find a replacement that late. Best chance is to check resort restaurants instead of park restaurants to find a replacement ADR. They have a lot more availability.

I'm about 50% on transfers working this time. Last year a bunch worked with no issues. I always feel so bad!

I didn't know that! Great tip to try for next time!

I feel SO BAD for people in Disney now, or are supposed to arrive this weekend. I can't imagine spending all this time and effort planning a vacation only to be thwarted the day before you leave. Ugh. Awful.

I have a friend in the Orlando area who posted pics of them putting up their hurrican shutters...preparing for potential evacuation, etc. so scary!

"Cleared" out is a relative term. Saturday last year was so packed. It took us 25 min just to get on the boat to HS from BC. Osborne lights was so packed you couldn't even get close. Sunday was manageable. That was our Epcot day and I felt comfortable wandering around. Illuminations was crowded but we had no problem finding a spot against a rail to watch. I didn't go to MK until Monday though. It was heavy crowds but we only went on rides that had less than 20 min wait. This year I'm avoiding MK on Monday bc of the predicted crowd levels. Wednesday is also EMH but that is the day we have CRT. Fingers crossed!!

The last reservation I cancelled didn't cancel until 2:30am according to the email. Guess I will only do the forced cancellation from now on.

Is there a park the recommend at all for Saturday? It is our first day there and I would like to go to a park. I was hoping MK but i don't want to freak the first timers in our group out.

We always check in on a Sunday and our first day is at Epcot on a Monday. We tried doing MK on a Tuesday after MLK weekend and it was insane because of the Holiday so I am expecting MK to be crowded that Monday still.

Us waiting for Nov/Dec hours to update...

I was tempted to add another park day since we will be there Friday afternoon, but I figure Saturday is going to be an absolute zoo so we will just hang at the resort/go putt putt/have an early DS dinner at T Rex and keep expectations low. If we didnt have 2 young kids I'd probably brave a park but the thought of a 10/10 anything with a double stroller has me saying NOPE haha

Me too!! I keep going back and forth on adding Saturday. Right now I don't have a day at AK. I am waiting to see if ROL opens. If it does I will be that crazy person to add Saturday despite it being a 10 crowd to go AK. Otherwise we may just hang out at the hotel on Saturday, go to Stormalong Bay and have nice dinner? I had planned on Friday monorail resort hopping and watching Wishes. I didn't want Saturday to be a really late night since we will probably still do EMM Sunday morning.

The two parks I would not even think of touching on Saturday are MK and Epcot. Beyond that, I don't know. MK will be crazy because it is ALWAYS busy on Saturdays and when you add the end of a holiday week on top of that I can't even imagine it. Epcot will be crazy because the Christmas stuff begins on Friday, so it's one of only a couple days for Thanksgiving travelers to catch some of that before they head home. Just my thoughts, I'm not very experienced with Disney travel, but that's the way I would reason through the park activity for that day.

We have EMH at HS sunday so we need an early ish night Saturday.

It just pains me to be there and not be in a park!

Well it depends on what site you look at. Kenny the pirate says MK: yellow, Epcot: red, HS: green, AK: red. TP says MK:9, Epcot: 9, HS: 10, AK: 9. WDW Prep MK: blue, Epcot: green, HS: green, AK: green.

I would just plan on it being busier in the parks on Saturday. DH looked at me with destain over the crowds Saturday but I reassured him Sunday would be better.

I feel so bad for everyone there or supposed to be going there. I'm watching the Hurricane thread and so many people are cancelling their long-awaited vacations. Must be devastating :(. I saw a few people rebooking for Thanksgiving so we might be getting some new members over on our thread.
