Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

I have a standard CBR room. My friend got one too but not until a while after FD came out - we were stalking the site daily for like a week.

I had just been looking at CBR rooms and wondered if anyone had gotten a standard room w/ fd during this week. Glad to know someone did!

I got it 45 minutes after the special offer dropped online. 30 minutes after took a standard king room for prefers dats of 11/28 - 12/6 for about $250 more. 15 minutes later decided to change dates and see if the standard 2 queen room was available and switched.

I've seen about a handful of other people on here who have a standard room for very similar dates to what I have. I didn't see anything left after I scooped up my room. Standard room availability for that week went very quickly.

I think part of the problem is that some people from Pop Warner football and the associated cheer and dance teams will be checking in during the second half of my stay. They probably have a block of rooms reserved for use by those groups, even if people haven't actually booked the rooms yet. Most of Pop Warner seems to stay in the values, but it seems that a good number of the dance groups stay at the moderates.

Now there are no standard rooms at all for the night of 12/5. The other categories seem to come and go as people change and cancel. The Thanksgiving people should be checking out on 11/27, so you may eventually see availability beginning that day. Then try various checkout dats to see if you can find something.

In a moment of total insanity I just checked into the cost of going to Universal for one day and well, so much for that!

$460 for 1 day park to park tickets for the family. Add in the cost of butterbeer, souvenirs, and eating at the leaky cauldron and we're looking at one hell of an expensive add on. Wahhhhhhhh

Waiting impatiently for December hours to be released. Where's the foot-tapping emoticon when you need it?

On a side note, flight prices for the September trip I need to cancel are really low right now! I suppose there is zero chance that will translate to lower prices for our Nov/Dec trip, but I'm still hoping. I've heard flight prices are supposed to be low right now compared to the same time last year.

We got a great deal on our flights, but we are leaving Thanksgiving day, couldnt believe the cost for flights out on the day before.

Also I just realized if I turn my phone sideways I can see signatures on here! I've been using it in portrait orientation and getting annoyed I couldn't see them. Apparently I need to lay in bed on the Dis more often :rolleyes1
I can't believe I never realized that! LoL

Yes, our dates at CBR are 11/26-12/4

Nikki from Poland, Maine here! DH, 15yo, 16yo and myself will be at Disney 11/28-12/5 staying at All Star Sports. We were originally planning 12/1 as our arrival date but when free dining came out I moved us up a little. We are planning to do Universal for 3 days during our visit and I like MEEKO was shocked by the prices! Cost us an extra $1,000 just for tickets then add a car rental and food for the day and WOW, glad I got free dining at Disney because that just about covers it!

I did the same thing! I think we are going to put off Universal for a year or two (or until my boys are both tall enough to ride all rides) and combine that with a trip to Disneyland instead. It's tough to wait for Harry Potter though!!

Is anyone else going to have to work their Memorial Day weekend plans around making ADRs? We're going camping that weekend about 45 minutes from home, my ADR day is Monday the 31st - so I'm going to leave my family after they go to bed on Sunday night to drive home so I can take care of my ADRs with a reliable Internet connection. Hopefully I'll be back at the campsite for breakfast.

Now that is devotion to the Disney trip!

My husband will be working all weekend so I'll be home and ready to make the ADRs at 6am :surfweb:

My ADR date isn't until June 1, so I guess I'm lucky. Except all of you will get the jump on the good reservations ahead of me! Actually, I'm having second thoughts about all of my restaurant ideas so I'm glad I have time to re-evaluate.

Well...it does get me a night in my bed vs a camper mattress. So there's that. :) Hopefully it pays off. There are quite a few of us who have that Monday as an ADR day, right?

What's your current list of hopefuls?

I am excited, all 3 families are getting together to pick our ADR this Sunday coming up. I have been so patiently waiting for this. We can finally make some plans, nothing like waiting until the last minute.

I've been over mine a few times too and then made the mistake of letting the husband look at menus. That will be the last time I let him have input in MY Disney vacation:p

Well, we all like breakfast, so I was planning to do breakfast at Crystal Palace, Hollywood & Vine, Tusker House, and Garden Grill. But now I'm having second thoughts about H&V because I know the Disney Junior characters will have zero appeal to our group.

I was also planning to do all of those for dinner except Tusker House (we ate lunch there last time and most of our group didn't care for it). We're just looking to do buffets for the vast majority of our meals because we have picky eaters. I did just hear that Trail's End will be offering a new brunch buffet on the weekends so maybe we'll find time to check that one out. I don't know... the family doesn't want to leave the parks to eat so I'm a bit limited that way. Part of me just wants to downgrade our plan back to quick service and give up on ADR's altogether.

Ha! I can hardly get mine to have an opinion on anything and whenever he finally DOES have one, it is the exact opposite of what I feel we should do. For example, he does NOT want to leave the park and come back. He wants us to just stay there until we're done for the day. He also does NOT want to park hop, at least not very much. He's willing to do something like leave Epcot before Illuminations to go to DHS for fireworks (none of us liked Illuminations last time), but otherwise he just wants to stay put. He also doesn't want to criss-cross the park to avoid lines. He'd rather wait 45 minutes at Space Mountain than walk to BTMRR for a 15 minute wait. So yeah, I guess he has a few opinions, but I don't really like his opinions! lol
