Week after Thanksgiving 2005

I'm sure there have been many threads on this before...but.... how crowded would it be to go to WDW the day after thanksgiving and that following week. We want to take DS and go to MVMCP, but we are trying to minimize time out of school. And since they have that Friday off...he would only miss one week. What do you think? I've always gone in either the fall or the spring!!

Thanksgiving weekend is very busy at WDW, because all of the local schools are out too, and most local businesses are off on that Friday. The Friday after Thanksgiving is VERY busy at MK, and it's not unusual for MK to close at capacity.

The rest of the weekend isn't as bad, but it is still quite crowded. Many people come down to Disney that weekend for the same reason you're thinking about it -- to minimize days off from school.

Still, if you're prepared and you plan, it can be a great weekend, as all the Christmas decorations are up and it's a very festive place to be.

Thanksgiving at all costs. Now if you can arrive that Monday after Thanksgiving, you will be there during one of the best weeks of the year! The crowds are light, the weather is usually great (we went swimming everyday two years ago) and the holiday decorations are already up. The only bad thing is that the MK usually has shortend hours with it closing at 6 or 7PM. It is not that bad in light of the small crowds. The dreaded Pop Warner cheerleaders are usually there during that time but can be pretty easily avoided. Just look for a large crowd of loud, hyper girls!

Seriously, the week after Thanksgiving is our favorite time to go!
