Wednesday morning: Live from Howard Johnson

That's fabulous! I'm so glad the character breakfast went so well. I'm sure the rest of your trip will be magical! Say hi to Mickey for us!!

It's so fun to read your TR as it's happening, practically! Thanks for sharing and I am glad your dd is enjoying her time with you! Make sure you're taking lots of pics to show us later!

Mulholland closed several times while were in DCA last Wednesday. A couple of times my DD and our neighbor were in line for it and had to turn around and come out.

You know what's really fun? When (after a full day of fun at the parks) you just got off Splash Mountain at 7:45 p.m., drenched to the bone (because DD13 said, 'eh, let's not get out the ponchos, I don't mind getting wet" and then I happened to get the first seat  ) and your DD13 is razzing you about being old and creaky, and then slinging her arm around your neck and telling you she loves you... then you wander over to French Market because she's got to be hungry by now, talking her into chowder in a bread bowl.. suddenly she's ravenous and the brownie bottom chocolate mousse "dreams" cake looks good... so you sit there in the mostly deserted French Market outside tables, watching the lights on the ROA, happy tired people walking by because the park is getting ready to close... lamps shining in the darkness overhead... sharing (scarfing) down some delicious chowder and chocolate mousse cake. DD13 sighs contentedly and says, "This is the best day EVER."

That's what it's all about, people.

That is so wonderful!! I am so glad that you and DD are having a great time together and that no one is sick. Again, thanks for keeping us posted!

Oh Yeah! Avalon that got the tears going. I love moments like that because you can pull them out and remember them later when you wonder how in the world you could be the parent of someone so exasperating! What a sweet and tender memory. So glad your do-over is so great!

Perfect day!

Avalon,

I am so glad you are having a wonderful trip!

I'm delighted her here your DD loved the character breakfast. I remember your post asking for advice...and i replied that my dd who is now 16 insisted that we do a character breakfast this past summer. The first one we did was when she was 13.

Enjoy every moment with your daughter....really and truly those memories are PRICELESS and worth every hard earned penny!

I've found that I don't get sick on the Teacups if I just look at the "steering wheel" instead of at the world spinning around me :rotfl:

Did you have to specially request a skylight room?

Have fun on your trip!

OK, that did 2 things, brought tears to my eyes and made me decide to do a trip with each of my girls solo! Just the 2 of us.....what a GREAT thing!! Now, I just need to decide which big birthday to do that Mom & Daughter trip on.....if I do the 15th birthday I have a couple years to plan and save for the first one. :) I could do the 13th birthday, then I only have to wait until July but I'd have to save faster....hmmmm.....

Awww thats sweet!!!!!!!!! thats awsome ur having such a great time!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to add that I am really enjoying reading your trip updates. I'm looking forward to staying at the Hojo next month, too!

It sounds like you're having a lovely time with your DD, that's how every trip should be, shouldn't it?

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and I hope to read a full TR with pics when you get back!

That is so cool - and why I love the idea of a solo trip, I am so glad you had a wonderful day together, and so glad you daughter appreciated it. :goodvibes

DS and I did DL Paris a few years back almost Solo, just my bf to tag along and she adores DS and kept buying him pressies! But just that one-on-one interaction, just the 2 of you to satisfy - would make it all wonderful.

Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Oh Avalon, I sure did love reading your sweet post!!! Your dd will always remember this, too.

I was one of those that recommended against the character breakfast. So glad you didn't listen to me!!!!! I may have to give it another try myself. Our only experience (outside of the princess dinner, which we do every year) was not a very good one. I was never one to really like the full-body-costume characters like Goofy and Donald. Shhhhhh....they kind of freak me out:scared1:

<sniff sniff> That is so sweet. :cloud9: What a joy to be able to have that time just to your selves! Of course now you'll have to do solo trips with your other children too! When they each reach 13.

I am so glad you two get to spend this time together.

The only thing better would be if you could stay a couple days longer and hang with us!!!! DH wouldn't mind would he???

:rotfl: You know my DH, 'Lyn, he'd let us do whatever we want, he spoils us! However, our bank account would be screaming bloody murder! (I think I'm hearing a few groans from that direction already...)

I hope you guys have a wonderful time next week!

Glad you guys are having a great time...Sounds really magical it reminds of when Ds first got off space Mountain last year

"Thank you guys for liking Space..." it was too cute...and it sounds like you were just a few rooms down from where we stayed...awesome rooms.
