My granddaughter is getting married soon. Her colors are fuchsia and black. Her bridesmaids are wearing fuchsia. She has requested that her guests wear black. I will be wearing a black chiffon skirt with a black sequined blouse, black shoes with rhinestone buckles, and Swarovski black swan dangle earrings. My nails and lipstick will be bright pink. I will be dressed in all black but I will certainly not be drab!
I think black is OK for a wedding if it is dressed up a bit. Of course, black and white is always right, so that would be OK too.

Black is regal, but the Crocs stay home, or go to Goodwill, or into the trash. Yes, I know that was going to be the next question.
Ooops... I wore crocs at DD's wedding. In my defense, I have serious orthopedic issues and crocs are about all I can wear without experiencing leg cramps and pain. I wore my dress shoes for the ceremony, fell walking up the aisle after the ceremony, and swapped to my crocs... but they are shiny, silvery glitter crocs, so very fancy! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I got married in a black wedding dress and my MoH wore red as my colors were red and black. We got married in November on the beach. The woman in the white and blue was the person who married us. I honestly didn’t even remember what she was wearing but it didn’t matter to me then either. LOL. I feel that black is fine, but if the bride and groom don’t want it, that’s their choice. I have no feelings one way or another. Just want them to be happy.

Just noticed this is a zombie threat.

My choice isn't listed. I don't have an opinion.

I think the 'little black dress" is probably more appropriate for a wedding then a funeral, though.
Oh my! I just went backwards and didn’t notice until I got to your thread that it was… 😊

I often wear black to weddings. I don’t want to stand out and usually 50 -70% of woman are in black. I went to a wedding in September and the bride requested guests wear black. It really made her and the wedding party pop. She also did a lot of artistic black and white photos and they came out great with everyone in black.

I have never heard of people not wearing black to a wedding. Is this an older generation thing? I am not young but in my 20s I (and every one else) was wearing black to weddings. The only color I have ever heard of anyone not wearing is white.

We were on a months vacation and stopped by St Anthony's Sand Dunes in Dakota for the total eclipse.
A couple was going to get married on the dunes came by our camp asked our girls if they would be in their wedding ceremony.

These kinda weddings could either be casual in sweatshirts and shorts, or like this time the bride goes the full wedding dress.
Because of that our girls dressed nicer "because pictures are forever" and wore black with tart makeup.
Worked fine.

NASA stopped by our camp put on a really neat show and and set up telescopes for the Eclipse.
Dressed in black for the wedding
