Wedding thread- Rehearsal dinner?

OP here; a little off topic, but...
For DD's first marriage, finances were supposed to be an even split between bride's parents, groom's parents, wedding couple. Additionally, DD/xSIL paid for each other's rings and the honeymoon. Groom's parents paid for the rehearsal lunch, we paid for everything else. They never ponied up with anything they said they'd cover (they said they were good for 1/3 of the wedding, up to $10K on their part). It DIDN't cost that much, but DH and I paid for it all (DD paid her $3K, we paid her back because we wanted to). Rehearsal lunch was just odd... No tablecloths, no place settings, everything strictly buffet (including utensils, water glasses, etc), guests were wedding party (B&G, MOH, 3 bridesmaids, BM/SO, three groomsmen w/SO), my teen nieces (reader and singer) and their mom, Bride's parents, groom's parents, groom's grandparents (mother's side), groom's two aunts and uncles on mother's side, groom's cousin/SO (he was doing the ceremony), groom's aunt and uncle (father's side, aunt was the legal officiant). I'd hoped my sister/BIL from NOLA could be invited but was told sorry, no. Big surprise for the wedding couple; they'd planned (with the groom's parents) a brunch (mix of b'fast and lunch offerings) with mimosas and strawberry shortcake, they got roast sirloin, chicken (both on the wedding reception menu), fish, no dessert, and a cash bar- and everything had either gluten and/or dairy, no vegetarian option, making it a real challenge for bride&bridesmaids with dietary concerns (yes, they knew about this). Just Plain Odd.

This time around, not sure what what'll happen. Wedding party is bride/groom, MOH/BM (who are married), and ring bearer (groom's 5yo son). Groom's parents have made it abundantly clear that they will ONLY pay for a hotel room for the wedding night, up to $150. This is a smaller, more relaxed wedding than last time. Maybe we'll just all go out to dinner (and not sure I'll invite the groom's parents).

For MY wedding (lord, can I remember back that far?) all our attendants were family members- my 2 sisters, his 3 sisters from Ohio, his college roommate (BM), his 3 brothers, my brother, nephew as ring bearer, BIL (MOH's DH) as singer, 2 nieces as readers. Since everyone was family (and they brought their invited kids) we just had a big ol' clambake after the rehearsal; we would've all had supper together anyhow, my mom, his mom, his dad came too (of course). It was $10 per person and included lobster or chicken, steamers, corn on the cob, roasted potato, rolls, salad, watermelon, blueberry pie, beer and wine. (Can you guess where we live :thumbsup2). It rocked!!
