Can I ask exactly when the violinist plays during the ceremony? I'm trying to pick our ceremony music at the moment and am going by the planning kit. Does the violinist play Canon in D or is it played on CD? I'm confused:confused3
I understand I have to pick one for the bridal party which is my mother only and I have definately decided on Canon in D for that. I was hoping for 'When You Wish Upon a Star' instead of the bridal march. I have no idea what to pick for the recessional part or for the prelude/seating. Can anyone help?

The violinist starts playing when the groom/officiant start walking to the...well, I was going to say altar, but that isn't always the case:rotfl:...to where they will stand for the ceremony.

S/he will continue to play whatever pieces of music you have requested until the ceremony starts.

We chose all Disney songs for our wedding.

For example, she started playing our groom processional (Can you feel the love tonight) as DH and Rev. Kevin were walking to the center of SBP. My EM/WC kept me off to the side...then when I started walking, the violinist played the bride processional (Once upon a dream). When we were done, she played our recessional (Zip a Dee Doo Dah! :teeth:) and then as we were having cake and champagne and more pictures, she played a few other Disney songs I had requested.

I was unsure of the violinist at first, but after hearing it live...:cloud9: it was perfect.

Canon in D is a pretty popular wedding song, so I'm sure the violinist knows that one and will play it for you. I'm guessing they know nearly all the "traditional" wedding songs in addition to any Disney songs. If you want something really out of the ordinary, ask if you can provide sheet music, if they will play it.

Hope that helps!

Thank you highwaygal:thumbsup2 I was confused. I thought that the violinist played something else entirely. I thought that all the wedding songs you asked for were provided on CD or something. I wondered how one violinist could make Canon in D sound good. It makes more sense now.

So, you were married at SBP too, my DF wondered whether he needed any music as he figured he would just, well, be there:lmao: So you advise picking music for the groom and the rev to walk to the middle?

To be honest, I had no clue what to do and what to pick! I'd never been married before;) :rotfl:

As I said in my other post, I was really wondering how one violin could sound good too...but it really did! I was very pleasantly surprised.

When I was planning my wedding, I had found a website that had a PDF of an old intimate planning kit. I downloaded it and used it as a guideline for what I needed (they even used to include a list of traditional music and Disney songs you could have played). I can't seem to find that site now...it's probably gone. And I'm not sure if I still have that info on my computer at home. I can look for it later, if you like.

I only had three songs 'cause it was just DH and me. And in some cases, depending on how fast people walk...you might only hear a few snippets of the songs.

Do whatever feels right for you and your DH. I figured, it was cool to have something playing for him as well simply because at least there was music in the background, you know? I could barely hear it from where I was standing!

I let my DH pick the song he wanted to walk to, maybe if I can find that list, you can show it to your DH2B and he can pick a processional for himself!

Summer-Caitlin, Canon D is lovely - I think in the film "Father of the Bride" (I love that film) they have it played on violin - it's particularly suited to that instrument, I think :)

I enjoy this thread. I was worried about the violinist and when they played. I picked A Dream is a Wish your Heart Makes to walk down to and then When you Wish Upon a Star for us both to walk back up to. I've been trying to imagine them as just violin music... I'm sure it will be beautiful
