Hey all! This is my first time ever joining a forum or posting anything on a forum. I got engaged in November and my fiance and I decided we wanted a Disney Wedding. I was wondering if anyone has had experiences to share about their Escape Wedding at Sea Breeze Point, especially mid-May? We are also staying for our honeymoon at Disney. (we are staying 8 days total)
I'm also curious about what people did about the marriage license, the info I have found is kind of overwhelming!
I am in school to be a school teacher and my fiance is a social worker so we don't have a ton of money, I was wondering what moderate Disney resort would be the best for our honeymoon? Or if the borrowed points could be used and still count towards our 4-night required stay?

Thank you for your help!

Ps I only need info on Disney World!

As far as moderate resorts, port Orleans, either one, are very nice & popular!

Welcome, and congratulations!

I just interviewed a bride who had an Escape event at Sea Breeze Point: http://disneyweddingpodcast.com/2014/05/21/escape-wedding-spotlight-kari-joe/

You can find other podcast episodes about Escape weddings here: http://disneyweddingpodcast.com/category/walt-disney-world/escape-collection/

You're gonna laugh, but I have a show about how to get your marriage license too! http://disneyweddingpodcast.com/2013/04/10/how-to-get-your-marriage-license/

You can either drive to one of the two nearby courthouses (addresses are in the packet Disney sent you) and apply in person or send away for the license by mail. The courthouses are each about 30 minutes away from WDW, in opposite directions, and once you get there it takes just 10 or 15 minutes.

We didn't want to waste any of pre-wedding time tracking down a license, though, so we applied by mail. If you go through Brevard County, all you pay is the same cost of the license you'd pay if you applied in person. If you use the service Disney lists in their packet, you will pay an extra $100 for somebody to do nothing more than act as a mail clearing house for your license — you still have to get it notarized and send documents back and forth yourself.

Disney Vacation Club stays also count toward the 4-night requirement, and the best way to save money on your hotel is to rent/borrow points for your stay. :thumbsup2

Has anyone purchased an Alfred Angelo disney princess dress? I found one that I absolutely love. A friend of mine asked me of they can be haggled down in the price at all since they are a corporate company. Has anyone had any luck with this? If so, what tips do you have?

I'm a SBP Escape bride and we got married May 1. Not mid-May but close. I would say either rent DVC points (which as Carrie says does count towards the min) or Port Orleans French Quarter.

I can't help with the marriage license question as we were officially married before our wedding, but if you have any other Escape SBP questions, I'd be glad to help! :goodvibes

I bought an Alfred Angelo Disney dress. I got $100 off. I am in love with my dress. They give you discounts on accessories and bridesmaid dresses as well. There is no middle man in that company so its easy to work with.

Hey! I just got married on May 19th at the wilderness lodge! We went thru licensetomarry dot com. They were really helpful...I was so overwhelmed at first too, but their site spells out step by step what you need to do :)

In regards to resorts and stuff, we stayed at the wilderness lodge....so I don't know much about other resorts and their prices. Let me know if u need any more help!

Thanks so much for all your help! A family friend requested a Disney Travel Agent from Destinations to Explore who is also very helpful, she's really good at finding discounts! My fiance and I are considering splurging on a Deluxe Resort but cant really decide if its worth it or not. I am being obsessed with finding out as much info as possible before we go!

I saw your response to my wedding post, my fiance and I are planning for May 18th, 2015.

I was wondering how the crowds and weather was? And how your wedding planning process went, any tips? pros and cons?

Also who did you use for hair and make-up?

We had amazing weather. Didn't rain once. The crowds were busy....but we got to the parks when they opened and went on the most popular rides first. No major lines :) there is also fast passes you can sign up for.

I didn't want anything extra or special added to my package so the planning was a breeze - which is why we wanted a Disney wedding, you basically just show up and everything is done for you :)

I went with beaute Speciale for hair and makeup. They were great and so reasonably priced!

There is nothing I would have done differently now that it's over with. WE did upgrade our photo package deal so that we get a disc of all of the pics taken that are NOT copyrighted. Otherwise with the package it comes with you would have to busy copies of pics thru Disney , since you would be given a copyrighted disc.

Since you didn't add much on did the price of the package stay around the same? I am afraid of hidden costs because we are on a tight budget

No hidden charges at all. Only add on that we knew would cost us was photo upgrade :) the cake is great, flowers were gorgeous, limo for 4 hours, champagne, photographer....!

You know - I never even asked if we could do that. We booked everything through AAA so we lumped together airfare, hotel, meal plan and hopper passes altogether. Where did you say you want to have your ceremony?

Sea Breeze Point, if it isn't already booked
In the Escape package you get 2 annual passes and we are going a few days before the wedding and we are hoping to be able to use them!

If it goes according to normal you'll get AP vouchers in the mail ahead of your date. You'll need to activate them at guest services at any of the parks or Downtown Disney when you arrive. I haven't been to Disney since the Magic Bands started but I think I've read that you can link the bands with your voucher ahead of activation. There's plenty of threads about this to confirm. Back when I had my vow renewal I got my voucher well in advance of my wedding. It was in May 2005 and I activated it when I came for my planning session in Oct 2004 and I'm pretty sure it came right after I signed my contract. I had 2 other short trips planned in between that trip and my vr so it made sense to activate then.

They will send you the annual pass vouchers shortly after you send your contract in, and they can be activated any time :)

I actually just purchased a Disney gown from Alfred Angelo two days ago. My grandmother, who helped me pay for the gown, asked the girl who was helping us if since we were buying the gown, slip, bra, veil, jewelry, and a Disney flower girl dress all from them on the same day if we could get some sort of discount. The girl said that while she could possibly discount the slip, bra or jewelry which were not Disney items, there was no way she could discount the veil, flower girl dress, or my wedding gown since they are Disney items. She said "Disney prices are Disney prices." Which we all know far to well is true :) Good luck!
