This is the 1st time I'm trying a Poll.. so Please bare with me..

I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon to attend a Weekend Wedding.. This is for my Brother.. Neither him nor his Fiance have ever been married before.. But I am at a loss, I dunno what to give..

How Much would you give as a Money wedding gift?????
DH said $500. and I thought it was a little high, even for my Brother's wedding.. I was thinking $300.

Any advice??? :confused3

Thank You

For my brother I would probably give something in the $300 or so range, but it really just depends on what you can afford and what the going rate is in your area. Standard rate in my circles is about $75/couple, so it would be quadruple the normal gift.

Congrats to your brother!

If it was me and my husband attending I would give about 400.00. Usually its 200-250 a couple so 400 is good.

I give $75 to my friends when they marry, because I am a single girl in my mid-twenties and they know i am broke! my parents cover it when it's a family member, i do know that they gave my cousins (dad's nephews) $500 (!) each which I thought was a little steep.
That being said, I think since it is your brother, if you can swing $500, then that's appropriate. But if that's going to hurt you financially, then don't do it! If I had the money and a sibling, I'd be comfortable with anything over $300 methinks.

Half of whatever your parents give.

I would think 250-400 would be all right.

I didn't answer your poll. It wouldn't go over well at all if I gave a sibling money for a wedding gift. It's probably increased from when I got married, but around here it's not that common to give money.

I'm bored tonight, so I just looked at my wedding scrapbook. I counted the gifts listed in the gift section and looked at what we received. We got 106 gifts, 13 of which were money.
