Wedding dresses

i've just heard a lot of negative stories about DB... what were your experiences like there?

I heard negative stories as well but I didn't ever have a problem. The store I went to was more than accomodating.... we had a flower girl crisis 4 days before my wedding and they took care of it in better ways than I could have ever asked for. My consultant was extremely nice and I had no problems getting my dress. Mine was one of their "designer" dresses so maybe that is why I didn't have to take the one off the rack?

I have heard that it isn't a good experience trying to find bridesmaid dresses though.

I finally finished my ceremony gown and jacket last week! Our wedding has a 1930s feel to it, so it's meant to be "vintage" in appearance. The gown is silk charmeuse while the jacket is silk velvet. I'm so glad to have it done (so I can put it in the closet and not have to worry about it for three months!)

OMG that dress is stunning, beautiful, beautiful job I am in awe! :worship:

Elegant, simple, chick and vintage all at once, from your invitations to the dress it all says you.

From a part time costume designer and full time graphic designer you have my very high thumbs up my lady! Wonderful job!!!

thanks everyone! I appreciate all of your posts. I guess it doesn't hurt to go look. We are planning a shopping day Oct 17th. I'm excited. I do have a couple smaller stores I will probably go to as well. Do you know how far in advance you need to make the reservations for DB?

I've made reservations for the day before. I know my friend made hers the day of. I've only gone during the week though. I know weekends are a bit busier. I checked with my friend she made her Saturday appointment about a week early.

Another designer married to an engineer?? We keep popping up all over the place, I'm beginning to think we should start a club! :rotfl: And thank you for the compliment!

I know! I belong to a large group of designers and the ratio of female designers married to either mechanical, civic, aeronautical engineers or scientists in other disciplines is off the charts :lmao:

I have at least 4 close friends who have the very same combo going on. I think it is a right brain- left brain chemistry that we can't deny ;) What is funny is that the odds of each of us finding our other (slightly more nerdy :lovestruc) half isn't something most people would think as high, right?

Hey, it works! DH and I have been together nearly 10 years now and each year we get stronger. We make a great team!

This is a picture of my daughter's dress from her July wedding. It is from Demetrio's Bridal.

All of you ladies look beautiful on your wedding dresses (or your daughters by that matter!).

I soooo hope I can find a dress that suits me half as well!
I am getting dress anxiety the closest I get to my picked date to start looking.
I am starting a year before our vow renewal. I am nervous since I really haven't done this before properly, all of you are a great source of inspiration.

Please do keep them coming! :thumbsup2

...and this is my daughter-in-law's dress from their wedding just over 2 weeks ago. Hers is from David's Bridal.

Mine is also from DB and I have gone several times. They are fabulous each and every time. I know there is a wide range of opinions but I love it! My moh got her dress there as well.

I agree that this dress is made for you. Only thing is they need to fit it to your waist and then it will be perfect!!! :bride: :lovestruc
