agree 100% on the dress and the tux. I wasnt comparing the two, just making the comment that from what I've read, even on formal night, most people seem to dress down -- It's not a room full of tuxs
My first impression was why would she want to risk having some food or drink spilled on the dress and ruin it?
Me personally, I'd rather my wife not cart the dress around, but this seems to be one of those subjects where the different genders will see it differently.
Many people do wear their military uniforms onboard on formal nights. I have seen lots of them, but I do agree that if the vow renewal was not onboard then leave the dress at home. We also do see quite a bit of tuxes on formal nights.
We cruised once and there was a newlywed couple who kept telling everyone they were married 2 weeks ago but she wore her dress both formal nights...it was definately a "look at us" scenario and seemed out of place, especially since she was telling everyone they encountered that the wedding was 2 weeks ago.
10 year Anniversary is a big one and I say go for it!!

PS We'll be celebrating our 10 Year in 2006 and my kids will be 9 and 6 also!! We plan on renewing our vows and you can bet I'm wearing my wedding dress!!!!
Well, I surely don't want to be in the doghouse( I'm already in it enough!!) If you are going to be on the August 28th western, look for the beautiful bride in her wedding dress!! We are looking forward to it very much!!!!!!
In January my DH and I cruised for our anniversary. I wore my wedding dress (it was a mid calf length 3/4 sleve beaded ivory dress not a traditonal gown) for formal night and DH wore his fancy suit . We now have a wonderful anniversary picture on the wall next to our wedding picture. It brought back all the greatl memories of our wedding.
