Aren't there usually pics of the bride carrying the train and you can see the lining? Here's my lining:

On the left the dress is off the floor and on the right it's dragging

I do have to say that we only laced it in every other loop so the bodice isn't fitting as well in these pics.

Jillian, on the same day I called about the hem, the owner posted on her twitter account "Really? The customer is always right?"

This was on her wedding/event planning twitter account with company name, not her personal one. Top notch professionalism!

Wow.

Yelp. Open an account and write a review.

This is the dress when I first tried it on, before any alterations. I had to buy the sample because I was short on time. In this pic, since it's a sample, there is a place where it needs to be tacked up where a stich had fallen out. I'm holding it with my left hand (right side in pic) look at the above pic and you'll see that instead she just put these 2 huge seams right above the little decorative edge. It just lays so differently. And you now can't see the decorative part all the way down, she has it covered up about half way down.
I am wearing a crinoline in above pics and not in this one.

Thats just plain disgusting. I agree with PP, I'd make a new account and do a review. Thats totally unprofessional.

I've just looked at your pics... I can see why your unhappy.

That hem doesn't look good.... I can't believe a 'professional' has done that?

Shocking that someone would also leave the bustle and the lining in that way.

Hopefull you Mum can fix it, I think you should deffinately get some sort of refund. So what if it's out of the stores pocket -They offer a service and couldn't provide. So sorry you're having to go through this x

Oh my goodness. I can't believe she would do that. I agree with transfer girl, Yelp it. Help other brides know so they don't suffer the same issues. I'd also be on facebook letting all of my friends know.

That is unbelievable, I am so sorry this happened you to.

on the bright side, your dress is gorgeous and you look beautiful in it. Nobody is going to look at your dress, all eyes will be on you. I highly doubt anyone is going to notice the helm

Do you guys have some sort of Trading Standards or Consumer assistance in the US.I would definitely get a third party involved in this as surely she is breaking some trade description by not offering some reimbursement?

 Wow. That is really childish. I'm not familiar with twitter but if it is anything like FB then think you should reply and give full details for future customers to hear about. I think she put her own foot in her mouth by tweeting that though. I'd never shop at a store where the owner said that. Go public with your story and share the name of the shop to warn others. You'll save other brides from dealing with the same thing and out her for being unprofessional and having horrible customer service.

Your dress is stunning still with the mess ups. I think that if you fix the bustle so that the lining doesn't show then you could get away with the hem the way it is (even though it is far from ideal). I wonder if you threaten to report the shop to the Better business bureau if she'd at least refund your alterations money. You shouldn't have to pay for that. Honestly she should refund the alterations money and pay for you to have it altered properly somewhere else.

I can't believe a someone would do a job like that and claim to be a professional. Is the lining not yet cut or is it supposed to be tacked up into the bustle? It's nice to know the salon at least agrees that this is poor work, but it's ridiculous that they think that hem is in any way acceptable. It should not be twisting like that.

And the owner making comments like that on a business related account? I can't believe that. Even if the customer is wrong, you don't advertise that you don't care about the feelings of your clients on such a public forum. How exactly is that going to look to future customers?

I totally said the "S" word at my desk at work loudly when I saw your lining! Totally unexpected. I hope no one heard me! I can't imagine what your reaction was...

Wow, that is seriously unbelievable. For a store to admit that it did an unacceptable job but not give you your money back? I don't care if it took time, if you didn't do it the right way you don't deserve to be compensated for it.

If I were you I would definitely consider doing something, whether it's with the Better Business Bureau or what. They should not be able to get away with that.

i'm so sorry this is happening to you! i hope you're able to get it fixed!!

Oh no! I am so sorry this happened--- that is TOTALLY unacceptable :( :(

however, if it makes you feel better, you look AMAZING and that dress is gorgeous!

If you are looking for a fantastic bridal seamstress and you do not mind traveling to the Raleigh, NC area contact Alterations by Ruth of Cary NC.
She altered my DH's wedding dress and she was amazing. The hem of her dress needed to be cut about 7 inches and then hemmed. Along with the lining and the crinoline. She pinned every inch of that hem. It was perfect when my DH went for her fitting. She also had an amazing bustle. Her prices are very reasonable and she can do emergency alterations also.

Good Luck. And you will be a beautiful bride!

Thank you all for your support and well wishes. The salon has not heard the last of me, but for now I am putting it aside as the WEDDING IS IN 7 DAYS!!! and I don't want to continue to be upset about it during the next week. My mom has let out the hem and pressed it, and she showed me tonight what she is going to do to the draping. It's looking so much better already. She is working so hard- she and my (well, her) neighbor stayed up until 2 am this morning working on it. I will try to get pictures posted before I leave so you can see the difference.

I will have to get new shoes with a shorter heel but that's ok- I only got 3 inch heels anyway but I was kinda already thinking that was a mistake while I was standing there being inspected and pinned and inspected again. I just wish I had an extra half day to do it!

So glad things are working out and you feel better. The dress is beautiful and you will look wonderful. Put this behind you for now as your wedding is so close. I am sure you will be more comfortable in shorter heels.

Linda

I am so glad to hear that your mom is fixing your dress so that you will be happy with it...but I am so angry at the way the shop owner (didn't!!) handled this! And the twitter comment?? REALLY???? How juvenile and unprofessional. Seriously, I would probably take out a full page ad in the local paper to denounce this store and tell the story. Of course that would probably be juvenile but it would make me feel better. But I guess the potential for a libel suit is high too. but at the very least, I would notify the better business bureau and post reveiws about the poor service every place you could!

Regadless though: you chose a BEAUTFUL dress and it looks amazing on you. I can't wait to see it in your wedding pictures, you are going to look gorgeous! I think you've got the right perspective, move on enjoy your day and your fabulous dress...deal with the shop and the alterations issues later.

Enjoy your wedding!

Brooke
