Wedding Dress and Cost

My sister set the budget at $1500 when she got her dress 2 years before me. I lucked out and got my Dress for only $600 it was 50% since it was the floor model and was discontinued! My alterations were $250 Since I had the train removed and needed it taken in like 4 inches on each side! It turned out perfect though!

My mom also bought my dress.

Mine was Alfred Angelo, and it was only $599
We also got a $100 gift card (it was an opening day thing at the shop) so that price included the veil, blusher, and slip!

Pretty good I thought!

I got my dress as a sample for $2700 CDN, which included tax and shipping and then my mum altered it for free. It was originally over 6k, which was way out of my budget. Even now I feel a little guilty over having spent so much on a dress (we were hoping to stay under 2k), but I loved it so much! :lovestruc

I think I had in my mind that I didn't want to spend more than $2K on my entire attire (dress, shoes, alterations, jewelry, tax, etc). Lucky for me, the dress and alterations were about $1600 and got everything else on gift cards! :thumbsup2

I didn't have a budget either, I knew i didn't want to spend to much but I also knew if I found my dream dress and it was more then I wanted to spend I would have to get it anyway. I tried on a bunch of dresses, I ended up with an amazing dress and it was not expensive at all. It was amazing and I felt that way in it!!

Ok, I'll fess up. I originally thought about £500 ($700) for mine and saw the perfect one on the internet for less. By the time I had factored in customs, duty, alterations etc it was quite a bit more than that but I thought I'd find one in the UK to try on to get the size right and then order it.

The price of the dress in the UK was £850 ($2000) but I haggled and got a free headpiece (which I chose a few weeks ago and it was priced up at £180!), free alterations and reduced storage cost. They were brilliant in the bridal shop - really attentive - so I bought it. I reckon it was about the same as getting off the internet in the long run.

With the cost of the petticoat the whole thing has come to double my original budget but so worth it. I knew as soon as I saw the dress on the internet that it was the one, almost didn't need to try it on!

Oh, and like most people, my Mom insisted on giving me some money towards it :goodvibes

I got 2 dresses for about $1,500 total. I went to a small bridal shop and because I wanted 2 dresses, she gave me a deal. That $1500 included alterations, head pieces and veils for each dress.

I didn't have a budget specifically in mind, but I knew I didn't want to spend a fortune. :bride:

posted by irusbud-Later that day, we went to a small bridal shop where my sister had purchased a BM dress for a freind's wedding. We found a dress we fell in love with for about $750 and decided to purchase it. When they rang it up, it came to $99! They honored the price it came up as.

I think that means that for that dress It was meant to be...

I just payed for mine yesterday- came out to just over $1,000 with a 150 credit for the headpiece/vail. I haggled it down from $1,200 by finding it cheeper at another salon. My original budget was cheaper than my sister's dress- $1,400

I did not want to look at anything over $1000, and I found one for $900. Plus, I had a 10% off coupon from an open house, and since I am getting my bridesmaid dresses there I get an additional 10% off!! Grand total (before alterations) $720!

I had an initial budget of around $600. I bought my dress for $599, but several months later I realized that it wasn't the right dress for me. My second dress was around $600 with $400 worth of alternations. I went WAY over my budget.

I had budgeted about £800 then my Dad said he wanted to pay for it but didn't set a limit. The one I've picked costs £600 but I think it looks much more expensive as its based on an Ian Stuart design which costs thousands!

I really didn't have a set budget in mind. I tried to look at it like is the dress worth that much. I often found myself saying "it's a nice dress, but not that nice of a dress." I didn't think I did too bad on my dress ($1000). It was the other parts of my attire that I went a little crazy on.

I budgeted around £600 ($900) for mine. I found the one I really liked for £1400 ($2000) and my mum agreed to pay for it. Then we rang round loads of shops and somehow managed to get it for £1000 ($1500). It really pays to shop around.

Both of my sisters spent $1000 on their dresses (well, actually my parents paid for it) so I budgeted $800 give or take! I ended up purchasing a dress from David's for $350. I ended up being able to get my dress, tiara, undergarmets and 3 veils (blusher, cathedral and fingertip) all for just under what my sister's spent on their dresses! I was really excited! :goodvibes oh and b/c it fit so well, the sales lady let me bring it home that day. I only need it hemmed! So I'm saving on alterations as well!

I didn't have a budget really, but I knew I didn't want to spend too much! My parents bought my dress for me. For the first dress, petticoat, bra, veil, headpiece and bag was $888. It turns out they ordered the wrong dress so we ended up buying a different dress and got a refund of $275. So total for everything came to $613.

I didn't want to spend anymore than $500 for a dress...however the dress I ended up buying was $750, but they had a sale $100 off gowns, so it was a little cheaper. I feel in love with the dress and I knew it was the perfect dress for me. I felt like Cinderella... :bride:

I did not want to spend more then $500 on my dress. But the Alfred Angelo dress i choice was discontinued the dress i went there to try on. So when they told me it was discontinued & they were running 50% off the dress plus an extra $100.00 total with my head piece came to $250.00. I left there feeling like i stole the dress from them LOL.:cool1:
