Wedding Crasher: Lurkyloo’s 4 Parties in 3 Nights with 2 Cameras and 1 Fabulous Hat

yay!! An update just as I was going to bed.

I will have nice Disney dreams thanks to you.. if Im lucky.

So.... did you have nice Disney Dreams? Or horrible nightmares about being taunted by a trash-talking trash can?

Congrats on the win! The video got me all choked up.

:goodvibes Aw... thanks!

I'll tell ya what... you've definitely sold me on a Disney wedding.

Mission accomplished! Does this mean I get to come to it? ;)

Last December when I was at a show, the woman in the audience selected to think of a number and tell it to the audience decided to hold up her hands to tell us, the audience, the number instead of verbally saying it. The monster, with his eyes closed, kept asking her to tell the audience the number and reiterating that he had his eyes closed so that he couldn't "hear" the number. He became annoyed when she kept telling him that she had already informed us of the number.

There was then a stage whispered conversation between the monster onstage to do the "trick" and a monster off-stage who had to explain to the monster onstage that she had held her hands up off camera and he missed seeing what number she'd chosen was. Needless to say, the monster got the number wrong since he couldn't hear the number being spoken and the monster's off stage missed seeing what the number was since she held her hands off camera when giving it.

You're right; things such as that make it that much funnier. It's a really cute show.

That's so funny! She was really smart to hold up the number off-camera.

You last posted that the Hawaii video was way ahead - did you trounce her in the end??! Yay Disney Brides!!!!

Apparently the number of views didn't matter so much as the number of votes - whohoo!

Another great update - and power to ya for having the dedication to do the live blogging in the park! I know I couldn't do it...too selfish with each and every second I get to spend in the Parks!!!

Your're smart! I still need to figure out a way to fully enjoy every second while live-blogging...

I LOVE the pic with the balloons!!!

And how can a cupcake be too sweet?! That exists?

I know, right? I couldn't believe the thought even crossed my mind...

I have a kid in band that has a hat just like that with the feather on the top. I think it is just too funny.

Oh man, I had to wear one of those in junior high band (more on that in the next update) and they are so uncomfortable!

I'll admit...I am a (non-evil) knottie. I never understood why there was such a rift...I would have LOVED to have a Disney wedding - I just have way too big of a family!

 I think the knasty knotties are in the minority - I shouldn't make such sweeping statements (heck, I'm a Knottie - you have to be to get into the contest!)

HURRAY! I'm so happy you guys won. I voted for you! I voted for you! Lots - well, as often as I remembered. I should have set some kind of alarm to remind me to do it daily. Sorry. At least you WON!

Thank you for your support! :cutie:

Great update. Your earlier post fooled me. I was all set to suffer the disappointment and then BAM! Update. Happiness is getting a Lurkyloo update.

Hee hee! Happiness for me is *finishing* a Lurkyloo update...

Yes! But only after you said something. LOL
Did anyone see the hidden Mickey in the water fountain, page 12 installment 175, 17th picture down, it's down and slightly right of center. I think lurkeyloo may have clued us in, but I didn't see anyone mention it.

Ooh - I missed that one originally , but there it is!

It was so sickly sweet, I'm pretty sure we each ended up with two cavities per bite we took.

Ah yes - the mark of a good cupcake! :rotfl:

Love the Roots pictures. Do you think they will come around with me in January and take pictures of our trip?

Only if you wear your wedding dress everywhere! :lmao:

I've been a lurking for a while now :sail:, and just recently added a couple of posts. I just wanted to say that when I first stumbled onto your reports, (I found you by your suggestion of a dessert party for a person asking what they could do special for their parents while at WDW, the parents had paid for everyone's trip) right off the bat I was struck with awe at the talent of your writing, your so much fun to read! ... I had so much fun taking the trip with you while you were planning, I feel like I was able to share yours and Patricks amazing journey, you two are truly a special couple and I pray that the Lord will bless you both.

Wow - what a kind thing to say! Thank you! :cloud9:

Your wedding was truly beautiful and very touching. I'm a huge fan of Disney, and I've always wondered if (no flames please) Disney weddings could be done tastefully or were they kinda cheesy??? But you truly put all my wonders to rest.

I have to admit that when I first heard you could get married at Disney, cheesy is exactly what I pictured. I think that's probably why I'm always carrying on about how great Disney weddings are, because there are so many misconceptions to be dispelled.

Now because of your reports and your wedding, my daughter (mind you she's 9) thinks that she now wants a Disney wedding some day! I'm thrilled! She's young, but brain washing can be started young, right? LOL

Whohoo! Keep up the brainwashing!

BTW, Jensey is precious!

Yes she is! :cutie:

Love the "getting sassy with Push" pic - where you are shaking your finger at him/her/it????? Were you able to convince him/her/it the virtues of Disneyland???

I was totally shaking my finger at him. As I recall, he eventually conceded that Disneyland's Space Mountain is better than the MK's....

So excited for your video win!!!

Thanks a heap! :lovestruc

 I love Monsters Inc Laugh Floor! I can't beleive they got the number wrong! I'm going to try and stump him when we go! The kids will get a big kick out of that!

Definitely - they need more people like you who really get into it. I'm always surprised how stoic the "That Guy"s are... although I guess that's why they pick 'em....

I  the pics of you with Push---so cute giving him what for about Disneyland bashing.
I might consider a trippie just for you.

 HOORAY!

Another great installment, Carrie! The scuba weights comment about your sandals cracked me up. I bet you'd be so much fun to hang out with!

I watched your wedding video today. I'd followed along on your wedding TR, but never took the time to watch it. How beautiful! No wonder it won :)

Aw, thanks! Also, I do hope I'm fun to hang out with, cuz I sure inflict myself on a lotta people. :lmao:

How 'bout a thanks to me for telling you about it?

THANK YOU!!! Seriously the best. :thumbsup2

Love the part about PUSH! Hilarious!

We had a cupcake at CP on our HM. My teeth hurt after trying to eat it. I had to scrape the icing off as it was just grossly sweet!

OK, what you do any time this happens is scrape that frosting into a mailing tube and send it to ME!!! :rotfl:

My Coworker and I finally caught up on your trip report, it took us three whole days. we had to stop every time our boss walked in. didnt want to get in trouble! hee hee

That's hilarious! I am glad to hear you escaped detection. :duck:

We were married at the wedding pavillion in July 2003. It was a second marriage for both of us. At the time my daughter was only six. I have been telling her ever since. "What do you say to a boy if he asks you to marry?"

Her reply is of course to answer with a question, "Can we get married at Disney?" Poor guy I've been coaching her for years that if he says NO her answer is NO.

I like your plan! Keep me posted on the results... :)

:teeth:

Such a great report. Very funny and entertaining.

Thanks!! :flower3:

Yay! He got it wrong!

I'm also relieved to hear you enjoyed the Laugh Floor more this time. I hate when I build something up for/to you, and you end up not liking it!

Oh man, I felt the same way when I realized how not-great the peanut butter cup mousse is that I've been recommending for the last year. :guilty: But you know, we all have different taste - at least we can agree on Disney!

Have to go to a soccer tournament this weekend, so I hope there aren't 10 pages to read when I get home. Thought about taking the computer, but then I would be in the room DIS'ing instead of taking in the action on the fields.

I'm going out of town tonight until Monday afternoon and I thought this too! This TR may take up my entire Monday night (but that's ok too! ).

No worries - I'm going out of town too! I'm gonna post today's update and *may* get to work on the next one this weekend, but I don't think you'll have much to catch up on after the holiday.

I have no plans as, apparently, I have no life....hmmm.

So, please update soon Carrie - else I'll be staring at a flickering screen all weekend, and it will make me sad.

Here it comes! In 2 posts...

Ok, I'm a lurkyloo lurker - been lurking on your trip reports since your wedding planning thread days. I'm loving this one as much as all the others. I have to thank you for turning me on to cakewrecks!! I was sitting at my desk the other day BAWLING from laughter. I had to close the door to my office and I still got some weird looks from people walking by :rotfl:

We were married at the wedding pavillion in July 2003. It was a second marriage for both of us. At the time my daughter was only six. I have been telling her ever since. "What do you say to a boy if he asks you to marry?"

Her reply is of course to answer with a question, "Can we get married at Disney?" Poor guy I've been coaching her for years that if he says NO her answer is NO.

I have to let you know - I actually did this. Well, to be honest, I said yes first, and then in the same breath I said "you know we'll be getting married at Disney, right?" MY DH is all about whatever I want, so I didn't think it would be an issue, but if he'd said no we might have had a problem. :lmao:

OK, so, to bring you up to speed... Decade of Dreams is a year-long celebration of the 10th anniversary of PassPorter’s Walt Disney World guidebook. They are holding multiple celebrations around the country in 2009, but the WDW leg was special because it fell on the actual anniversary of the release of the first PassPorter. That anniversary party was ostensibly the reason for my last-minute trip to WDW, but, let’s face it—we all know I was there for the desserts.

So the kick-off event for the WDW leg was the check-in at Aloha Isle (a.k.a. the Dole Whip stand) in Adventureland. I was signed on to co-host the event, which I thought meant I would be bustling around with an official-looking clipboard, checking off names, and fielding pressing questions. I got there a little early and stood in the shade, melting quietly to myself. (Seriously, it was the kind of hot where you can be standing in the shade perfectly still and you’re still sweating from places you didn’t know you had.)

Gradually other people started to drift over, look around cautiously, and then practically whisper, “Are you... with PassPorter?” until we had a big enough group toting a reasonable number of blue guidebooks that we were easily identifiable. However, my VIP dreams faded when my boss Dave commandeered the only clipboard and began efficiently checking people in without any need of assistance. He kindly invented a job for me as Lanyard Passer-Outer, which I took very seriously. Not only did everyone get one, some people got more than one, as did a few random passersby and inanimate objects.

The badness of the only photo I took indicates just how busy and official I was!
IMG_0311.jpg

Fortunately my pal and fellow PassPorter author Cheryl Pendry is quite the shutterbug, so I will steal a couple of her shots for you:

“Curses! Foiled by Dave’s ruthless efficiency...”
DSC07165.jpg

“Dagnabbit – these people already have lanyards!!!”
DSC07168.jpg

“Sorry, I’m just too busy to look good in this photo.”
DSC07176.jpg

I’ve met a lot of people from the online Disney fan community over the last year, but never so many all at once! It was fun putting faces with screen names (which Jennifer and Dave had helpfully put on our badges) and getting to meet in person. This was also my first time meeting Jennifer in person, even though we’ve been working together on PassPorter’s e-books for more than two years!

After everyone checked in, we made our way out to the Hub, where Cheryl had arranged for a PhotoPass CM to take a group shot of us. This was accomplished through much shuffling and squooshing and squinting in the sun.

This is what being in a group photo looks like
IMG_0312.jpg

I had to steal a this shot from another PassPorter cuz I wasn’t paying no $14.95 to download the actual photo from PhotoPass.

Spot the Lurkyloo!
DoDGroupshot.jpg

The next item on the agenda was a trivia/scavenger hunt thingie, but a lot of us pooped out due to the heat. I decided I’d just go on one ride and then make tracks for my hotel room, so off I went to Haunted Mansion. What a treat! Besides being blessedly cool and dark, it’s pretty much the awesomest ride ever.

IMG_1453.jpg

This was my only day scheduled for the MK, so it was kind of depressing that I was letting the heat drive me out of the park so early. I remembered that a Mickey’s PhilharMagic do-over was on my To Do list in honor of Jensey and my friend Spanky. It’s their favorite attraction in the MK, but the only time I’d ever seen it I had been so tired from our 5am Magic Kingdom photo shoot that I fell asleep. So I wanted to give it another try.

IMG_0315.jpg

As I settled into my seat, the bored-looking grandpa next to me asked Grandma if this was one he could sleep through, and I assured him it had definitely been done (but encouraged him to give it a try first). I really enjoyed Mickey’s PhilharMagic this time! I’m no great fan of shows, and movies are only one step higher in my estimation, but how can you go wrong with 3D and Disney’s greatest hits?

After the show I stopped in the gift shop to blog a bit. It’s one of the only end-of-ride gift shops I’m interested in cuz it’s all about Donald, and Donald is my “OK, if I *have* to pick a favorite Disney character and it *has* to be one of the Big Five” pick cuz he has the most personality. And Donald always makes me think of DISer Wazzo, cuz she’s a real Donald fan.

Now Wazzo is getting married in Japan at Epcot in July, and when she was looking around for an alternative to a veil, she found a beautiful Japanese headpiece called a kanzashi:

Kanzashi.jpg

However, that day I discovered something that I think would be even better bridal headgear for a diehard Donald fan like Wazzo:

IMG_0316.jpg

I mean, it’s white and everything!

I was completely useless after expending all my brainpower on this stroke of genius, so I wandered around Fantasyland snapping crappy photos like these...

IMG_1455.jpg

IMG_1454.jpg

IMG_1456.jpg

Look! It’s PUSH’s girlfriend!
IMG_1460.jpg

I tried to get some good shots of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, but once again I found that just because you are looking at a good shot doesn’t mean it will turn out as a good shot on film, er, pixels...? (I have the same problem with drawing—somewhere between my eyeballs and my hand the message gets scrambled, cuz what comes out on paper looks like it was done by monkeys!)

IMG_1458.jpg

Well whaddya know? They have stuff to BUY here!”
IMG_1459.jpg

IMG_1466.jpg

Since nothing very interesting was happening at that point for me to write about, how about I throw in some of the photos I took earlier in the day but was too embarrassed to post up near the Roots’ photos?

I like these mirrors in the Adventureland ladies room!
IMG_1451.jpg

IMG_1432.jpg

“Clang, clang, clang went the trolley...”
IMG_1436.jpg

“Ding, ding, ding, it’s hot as hell!”
IMG_1435.jpg

“Zing, zing, zing went my hamstrings as we tripped on some horse doots and fell...”
IMG_1434.jpg

IMG_1438.jpg

“No, you gotta get my GOOD side!”
IMG_1439.jpg

IMG_1440.jpg

IMG_1441.jpg

IMG_1443.jpg

I think because of Magic Music Days they had a school band marching down Main Street, so I hopped into the crowd of proud parents to get a few pictures.

IMG_1446.jpg

These kids are lucky they don’t have to wear itchy hats with plumes in them like our band did!
IMG_1448.jpg

Whoohoo – go bells! This was me in junior high:

IMG_1449.jpg

Hardest working members of the band right there. People think it’s the bass drummer, but all that kid has to do is thump away at a big drum. The bells players have to carry 30lbs of metal and hit all the right notes.

And then came my marching-band arch nemeses... the flag girls!

IMG_1450.jpg

In our band they would march down the sides, and I was constantly getting whacked in the hat or the shoulder with a flag pole!

The last thing on my To Eat list for the Magic Kingdom was some of the fudge at the Main Street Candy Shop. I dunno if it’s the same as the fresh fudge they recently stopped selling at Disneyland, but since people make such a fuss about that stuff, I thought I’d better try the MK’s while I could.

IMG_1467.jpg

Pretty floor!
IMG_1478.jpg

“Dang... I guess I knew someday someone would get a picture of me in this hat.”
IMG_1475.jpg

IMG_1468.jpg

This fudge is celebrating Today.
IMG_1469.jpg

Flavors I got: Chocolate, Oreo, Butterfinger, Peanut Butter, Celebrate Today Flavor (vanilla with cake pieces), and S’mores. They hooked me with the “buy four, get two free” scam. I mean, it can’t be real pricing ‘cuz that would mean that four pieces of fudge cost almost EIGHTEEN DOLLARS! I’m used to overpaying at Disney, but this one made me cranky. Let me save you a $20 bill by giving you my foolproof recipe for fudge that beats the pants off Disney’s:

Dottie’s Prize-Winning Marshmallow Creme Fudge

1 jar Marshmallow Creme
1 1/2 cups sugar
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1/4 cup margarine (not butter!)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 package (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips (or peanut butter, butterscotch, etc.)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (I skip these)
1 teaspoon vanilla

In medium saucepan combine marshmallow creme, sugar, milk, margarine and salt. Bring to a full boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add chocolate chips and stir until morsels are melted and mixture is smooth. Stir in chopped nuts and vanilla. Pour into greased 8-inch square pan and chill until firm.

Now where were we..? Oh yes!

This creeps me out.... and strangely compels me to bite off Mickey’s nose!
IMG_1473.jpg

Sometimes people on the DIS Cake Thread ask about ordering chocolate-covered strawberries. I was pleased to see you can get them right in the MK, and the smaller portion makes them more affordable.

IMG_1470.jpg

“Fellows, are you too shy to propose? Why not say it with a Mickey Crispy?!”
IMG_1477.jpg

(And ladies, if you’re not ready to say “I do,” simply eat the evidence—it’ll be like he never asked!)

As I was leaving the MK, it looked like some heavy stuff was going down on Main Street:

IMG_1479.jpg

Oh wait, it’s just a Flag Family.
IMG_1480.jpg

From there I whizzed back to Pop Century for a quick shower and a change before dinner and Christin’s cocktail hour. I’m a little rusty on the wedding etiquette, but I think major B.O. is probably still frowned upon.

On my way back to my room I spotted the Hare of the Baskervilles. Unfortunately, he also spotted me (dang those glowing demon eyes!) and twitched his nose menacingly before loping into the bushes.

Up Next: bluezoo and Crashing Wedding #2!

I have to let you know - I actually did this. Well, to be honest, I said yes first, and then in the same breath I said "you know we'll be getting married at Disney, right?" MY DH is all about whatever I want, so I didn't think it would be an issue, but if he'd said no we might have had a problem. :lmao:

:rotfl2: That's hilarious! Thanks for coming out of lurkyloo lurkdom - and I'm so glad you like Cakewrecks. The day Jensey introduced me to it I spent almost an hour going back through old posts and laughing til I couldn't breathe! :lmao:

Band Geeks Unite!!! :cool1: And BOO to the snotty flag girls too!! Althought i'll have to say that as a Bell player you probably got away with slouching a bit as you had the big bell thing to carry. Clarinet players had to walk ramrod stiff in those extremely hot band uniforms and plumes (yes we wore plumes when we marched in Magic Music Days back in my day) and our dang arms were locked in position! I swear band camp marching technique is now used in torture chambers around the world! :headache:

And your pictures are still good!!!

Mmm... fudge. 6 for $18 seems like a much better deal, but they do seem like some pretty big chunks. Which flavor was the best? Celebrate Today sure looks good.

And this was me..the majorette...and we did Disney's Music Days way back in 1998. IT WAS HOT!! We wore black spandex uniforms like those girls have on and we unzipped our backs after the parade bc we were soo hot...and we got in trouble...LOL! But I am sure the band was hotter than us in full wool uniform. at least we had skirts on!

ok...i'm to lazy to repost the pic but the guy at the bakery...did he look like he had no face??? LOL!

The "Will you Marry Me" rice crispy had me rollin. Where was that when Jeff proposed? :rotfl:

I am intrigued by the kanzashi and an epcot wedding. :thumbsup2 Does Wazzo have a pj?

Your "revamped" version of the trolley song just made me laugh so loud I woke my fiance out of a dead sleep - in the next room! HIGH-larious (to quote you!)!!! :lmao:

Yup... I did have nice Disney dreams. I actually dreamt of the sci-fi.

Hum... I didn't know they sold little portions of strawberries. Yummy...Maybe some are meant for me to be eaten lol

oh my gosh, LOVING your TR so far! Can't wait for your bluezoo review.

I wanna meet Push now lol

Hey hey now I was a flag girl!!!:lmao: Then I graduated to rifles. We never hit the musicians though since we were up front.

I did play clarinet and bells in high school too but not for band only music class. :cool1: I also did the Disney Magic Music days in Disney but it was in the World Showcase way back in 1993. Good times.

Your version of the trolley song cracked me up!!!!!!!! I think it was the horse doots. :rotfl:

Ooh - good point about the slouching. Maybe that's why I'm so slouchy now! :cutie:

Mmm... fudge. 6 for $18 seems like a much better deal, but they do seem like some pretty big chunks. Which flavor was the best? Celebrate Today sure looks good.

I'm gonna go with S'mores. :thumbsup2 The non-chocolate flavors have a very weird mealy mouthfeel (as they call it in the biz :snooty:) and an aftertaste.

And this was me..the majorette...and we did Disney's Music Days way back in 1998. IT WAS HOT!! Boy, it sounds like everybody but our band got to go to Magic Music Days! You would think, though, that they would come up with some cooler uniforms for the band and the majorette these days.

ok...i'm to lazy to repost the pic but the guy at the bakery...did he look like he had no face??? LOL!

Perhaps he was trying to look anonymous in my picture so his friends couldn't spot him on the Internets!

I'm loving this trip report... food, parties and pretty pictures :thumbsup2

popcorn::

That's what it's all about... but mostly food.... :rotfl:

The "Will you Marry Me" rice crispy had me rollin. Where was that when Jeff proposed? :rotfl:

:rotfl2: It reminds me of the episode of Sex & the City when Miranda's boyfriend first said "I love you" by giving her a giant cookie with that written on it, and she was so upset that she had to eat the whole cookie so she wouldn't have to deal with it.

I am intrigued by the kanzashi and an epcot wedding. :thumbsup2 Does Wazzo have a pj?

She does not, much as I have begged and pleaded for one... :cutie:

Your "revamped" version of the trolley song just made me laugh so loud I woke my fiance out of a dead sleep - in the next room! HIGH-larious (to quote you!)!!! :lmao:

Whohoo! That one took a little brain power...

Yup... I did have nice Disney dreams. I actually dreamt of the sci-fi.

Hum... I didn't know they sold little portions of strawberries. Yummy...Maybe some are meant for me to be eaten lol

Some are meant for you to be eaten - it is your destiny. Go forth and fulfill it. :wizard:

GREAT TR YOUR SO FUNNY:goodvibes

:goodvibes Well, thanks!

oh my gosh, LOVING your TR so far! Can't wait for your bluezoo review.

I wanna meet Push now lol

:teeth: Yeah, I can't believe it took me so long to finally meet him. I think it has something to do with us only going in the off-season usually.

I am intrigued by the kanzashi and an epcot wedding. :thumbsup2 Does Wazzo have a pj?

She does not, much as I have begged and pleaded for one... :cutie:

I don't have a PJ, :sad2: but I hope to post a TR to help out future brides with vendor reviews etc. I find those super helpful, so I'd like to help too!

I don't feel that I'm creative enough to pull off a PJ at the level of the other amazing DIS Brides, but I am hopeful that my amazing vendors will be able to provide me with enough creative energy (well, pictures etc.) to post an interesting TR!

...although I'm thinking I should hire Lurkyloo as my official ghost-TR writer!

Great pics! the ones of the castle are awesome and the flowers are so vibrant! I wasn't coordinated enough to be a band geek. I played the claranet all through jr high, but when we got to high school I couldn't march and play at the same time! :lmao: So mo marching band for me - although I love to watch and hear them perform!!!
