hey there fellow disney friends!
i should start by saying that me and my DF are getting married in december. we got engaged at WDW in december 2005 and we are getting married exactly two years later.
i'm the oldest child in my family and my parents are having a really hard time with this. i will be 25 years old by the time of the wedding and they still feel that is too young. anyway, we've been butting heads a bit because of that. my DF and i moved to arizona together last year and we are having the wedding here before we escape on our disneymoon. my parents live in colorado. we finally got them on board with the wedding date and such, and now they're feeling left out of the planning. while we were working out our differences, my DF and i continued to plan (finding and booking vendors / venues, etc). you gotta start early to get the good vendors and the good prices - which we need because we're paying for it all ourselves. well, i guess my mom just thought that i should have waited until everything was cleared up before continuing to plan. now she feels left out of the planning. it's not like i didn't want to include her, it's just that i needed to get a move on. vendors / venues book up fast around here. nothing is set in stone yet, but we put down deposits on a bunch of things. i think if i go to her for advice about details, everything will be ok. which brings me to the point of my post...
i am going to my parents' house over memorial day weekend to see my youngest brother graduate. i want to take wedding cake samples with me. we found a great local place to make the wedding cake but we're having a lot of trouble choosing a flavor.
does anyone know about taking cake as a carry-on? we would freeze it the night before and wrap it up well. but i was noticing the TSA site has listings like yogurt and stuff that you can't have more than 3 oz. technically the wedding cakes have a middle layer of creamy filling. is this a problem? have any of you disney fairytale wedding brides attempted to bring home part of your wedding cake on the plane? yes, i could just overnight the a package with wedding cake samples, but we're really nickel and diming it everywhere (more money for the disneymoon). i don't want to pay the money to overnight something when i'm flying there at the same time. but, if i have to - i have to. i know it might not seem like a big deal, but i really think this small gesture will mean a lot to my mom.
thanks for your help! and hey, if you can't answer my question, maybe you can just tell me what flavor of wedding cake you chose? i would love to see some photos.
